Would You Ever is fairly nice but it sailed a long time ago for me. Rhythm is a Dancer and new Fall Out Boy are both solid though

Shoutouts to these disappointing things * Bebe Rexha f/Florida Georgia Line - Meant To Be * Harry Styles - Two Ghosts * Jason DeRulo - If I'm Lucky * Rudimental f/James Arthur - Sun Comes Up And these that never really went anywhere or were just kinda pointless * 21 Savage - Bank Account * 5 After Midnight - Up In Here * Ed Sheeran - How Would You Feel (Paean) * J Hus - Spirit * Louis Tomlinson - Just Like You * Luke Bryan - Light It Up * Rag N Bone Man - Skin And these that were killed by overhype/overplay * Enrique Iglesias f/Sean Paul & Matt Terry - Subeme La Radio (Matt’s feature is just so pointless. The song was much better on its own.) * Lil Uzi Vert - XO Tour Lif3 * Stormzy - Big For Your Boots 20.) Julia Michaels - Uh Huh She makes Issues which was a GEM, and then she comes up with this? That chorus? No, honey. I wouldn’t have touched that with a ten foot pole. 19.) XXXTENTACION - Jocelyn Flores Look At Me was at least hilarious for what it is. This doesn’t really go anywhere. 18.) The Script - Rain This is INSANELY LAZY for The Script. We don't need another Shape Of You reject. 17.) Lil Pump - Gucci Gang NO ONE NEEDED THIS. AT ALL. 16.) Drake - Blem NO. 15.) J Hus - Did You See I’m sorry, I just don’t get it. 14.) Maroon 5 f/Future - Cold This gets the award for fastest burn rate (although idk if Cola has this beat) except the burn rate made me hate it. 13.) Artists For Greenfell - Bridge Over Troubled Water Love the sentiments, but I think it’s saying something if I can barely remember it. 12.) Imagine Dragons - Thunder Already a boring song to begin with but overplay is gonna destroy it even more. NEXT. 11.) Sam Hunt - Body Like A Back Road I really don’t have to say anything about this. But it’s saying something that I can think of 10 songs this year that are worse. 10.) Jake Paul - Jerika I just don’t understand the point of this??? 9.) Luke Combs - When It Rains It Pours Yeah, I’d rather just kill it with fire at this point. 8.) Big Shaq - Man's Not Hot To his credit, it’s not It’s Everyday Bro. It’s not good either. 7.) Louis Tomlinson f/Bebe Rexha & Digital Farm Animals - Back To You You’d think that Bebe & DFA would give a Louis track some serious edge like Steve Aoki did. Kyle f/Lil Yachty - iSpy This had to become huge. OH GOD. AS A SPECIES, WE ARE SO MUCH BETTER THAN THIS. I… expected a lot more country going into this so it’s nice to see that the genre as a whole has improved. The fact that Luke Bryan isn't in my bottom 20 says it all. Also expect me to like one of these songs in about two years. |

H8CHART comment: 20. Only heard like snippets of this from Worst Songs of 2017 lists. Meh 19. Okay-ish. 18. I like this. And oh, I wasn't the only one who was reminded of Ed Sheeran just by listening to this 17. Bit of a guilty pleasure. 16. Not familiar with this 15. I like this song. 14. I like this one too 13. It's a nice way of raising awareness for those who suffered the Grenfell tragedy 12. Okay song, except for the sub-par pitch-shifting in the chorus 11. Meh 10. Only heard snippets of it from Mr. 96's Worst Songs of 2017 list. Jake tried to do a "Mask Off" reference in the song but ended up mentioning Quavo of Migos fame instead of Future 9. Haven't heard of this song before. 8. TWO PLUS TWO IS FOUR MINUS ONE THAT'S THREE QUICK MATHS. MAN'S NEVER BEEN ON THE BLOCK, SMOKE TREES. 7. I like it 6. They were in this ITV show Love Island, in case you didn't know. 5. Pretty mixed for me. 4. Haven't heard of this one either. 3. Okay. Drink Up was a better effort from them this year 2. Who's ready for some album reviews?
*Cody's Album Review 2017* No real countdown this time, just getting down to business. Maaaaybe a little ranking if I have the time (which I probably won't). The Chainsmokers - Memories… Do Not Open  A year ago they were living off two EP’s and their first commercial success since the novelty #Selfie. This year they finally decided to get off their asses and release a full length album, and while it pales in comparison to the two EP’s that preceded it, they managed to introduce us to a flurry of new tracks and collabs. The entire album is 75% Drew singing (either solo or in a duet) and 25% whatever BJSC artist they managed to tag along. The only exceptions were Jhene Aiko, who sounded amazing, Coldplay, who let’s be honest, always sound amazing, and Florida-Georgia Line, who didn’t even sound like they were there. That’s right: Last Day Alive managed to sound decent and that was because their voices sound a lot like Drew’s with filter. It was like they weren’t even there. Earlier in the year they released Paris with backing vocals from Emily Warren and it was a nice and soothing change of pace from the more prominent drops of their 2016 singles (if it even had one, it was so minimal that it didn’t even sound like one), and Something Just Like This managed to complement this well. Then out of all the possible album tracks, they released Honest and it flopped. It charted for a while for me but it ended up getting a bit boring. The One sounded pretty amazing from what I remember but it was immediately eclipsed by Break Up Every Night, their best song on the album. With Captain Cuts in co-production, it was no doubt that this was not gonna be like their other slow jams. Phoebe Ryan’s backing vocals in “Bloodstream” were nice, and the song seemed to blend well. Consistency seems to be the album’s strong point. However, there were a few songs that sounded more like a typical Chainsmokers affair, namely Don’t Say/It Won’t Kill Ya/Wake Up Alone/Something Just Like This. Young also surprised me with being more synthpop than anything. I think I might chart the remix now that I just found out it was a promo single. I felt that this album was more of creating an atmosphere than releasing carbon copies of Closer, which is what most would have expected when they announced this album. Good. It would have probably gotten more hate if they went that route. Ranking: 1.) Break Up Every Night 2.) Young 3.) Something Just Like This 4.) It Won’t Kill Ya 5.) Paris 6.) The One 7.) Don’t Say 8.)
