A Boat Race match (I call them that) for Cambridge as the first fixture.

Thoughts and prayers are with Michael Appleton as he battles cancer.

Ipswich Town say their under-23 manager Kieron Dyer is "undertaking tests" in hospital.

The former England, Ipswich and Newcastle midfielder, 42, retired from playing in 2013 and has been in his role at Portman Road for a year.

Not really been paying attention to the League One table but it is looking pretty tight at the top! It's been a little while since Plymouth have been in the championship anyway so nice to see them topping the table for now.

Former England midfielder Kieron Dyer needs to have a liver transplant, his club Ipswich have confirmed.

Dyer, who coaches Ipswich's under-23 side, has primary sclerosing cholangitis and was admitted to hospital on Wednesday for tests.

Get well soon Kieron Dyer.

The 2022-23 English Football League season will start earlier on 30 July next year because of the World Cup.

League One will continue without a mid-season hiatus.

Let's see if he can help them stay above relegation! If he's already been in charge of the U23s then he must have a feel of the culture of the club which can only be a benefit for taking the helm.

He's got a heck of a challenge ahead of him - again the fact he's familiar with the team must be a benefit, and maybe his age (he's only 39) might bring some freshness into the management?
