I am shocked to hear this, I thought he has at least another term in him. He is one of the rare leaders who managed to increase his party's share of votes (and seats in parliament) while pursuing wide-ranging economic reform. He will be sadly missed.

Whilst I know absolutely nothing about John Key, I have absolute respect for any politician, or any other person in a position of power, who steps down from their role in order to spend more time with their family.

That is, of course, unless they are using it as an cover for something else, ie to hide an affair, or to distract from any serious misdemeanors they might have committed & are about to be uncovered.
