New Britney Single Out Early Next Year Featuring Iggy Azalea
Iggy says: “I’m going to go to Las Vegas! I am going to check out Britney Spears’ show before I perform my own thing. That’s what Im really excited about. I’ve always wanted to see a Britney Spears show.”
She continues, “Hopefully I get to officially meet her, cause we have a song that’s going to be her first single coming out next year, and I still haven’t got to really have a conversation with her, so I’m hoping New Year’s will be the time I can get her into a corner. Very excited.”
When asked how the collaboration came about, Iggy reveals it was Britney’s idea.
“She said she would like to work with me in an interview, and they kind of reached out. We recorded a few different things. One of those ended just being undeniably great. Hopefully everybody will get to hear it at the beginning of next year.”

I think its a great album, completely underrated by fans. The ballads and mid tempos showcase her voice like none of her most recent albums, and the uptempos are kickass

Britney Jean gets way too much stick just because it flopped, it has some seriously wonderful stuff on there and she sounds a lot more human than she has done in years on most of it.
I hope she can have as much involvement in this next album.

I can agree that the production was rushed (that said most will.i.am production seems pretty thoughtless!?) but I think the songs themselves were pretty good on the whole! Also obviously the campaign was half hearted to say the least!

It just feels like they started recording for the era then "Work" came along and they wanted to cash in on s&s' and vegas' success resulting in a rushed album.

That might be the case, but I still don't understand why they take forever to make an album for her. She could've recorded stuff during 2012 while she was on x-factor and hence Britney Jean wouldn't have been a rushed release.
I feel like the longer she takes to chose producers and record stuff, the better the album turns out. That's what makes albums like In The Zone and Blackout her very best.

Nah, the thing that makes 'In The Zone' and 'Blackout' the best/the albums that they are, is how personal they are, imo. Just how much involvement she herself had in those albums, which just showed how much she actually wanted to make them.

I thought she had much more input into Britney Jean, as in it's about the only album where she had writing credits on each track and she actually sounded passionate in her voice and not just like an autotuned robot (well, on the majority of the songs anyway).

Oh and Aly is correct. I still think 'Britney Jean' is a great album. It's her most "personal" in the sense that she's had a lot of involvement in the writing side of things, she just had to let will.i.am go and do everything else, which was a bit of a shame.

It's really not for that reason it gets stick. 'Work Bitch' is incredible despite flopping but the album as a whole is completely void of soul and creativity. Songs like 'Till It's Gone' sound like something your average bargain basement Romanian flopstar would create to no acclaim and for an album that has Britney co-writes on every single track I see absolute none of her in it. If you want Britney doing dance then Femme Fatale does it infinitely better.
I've never been disappointed in a Britney album like I was when I listened to Britney Jean.

I agree 'Till It's Gone' is fairly anonymous (the two duets and 'Don't Cry' are poor too), but I think songs like Alien, Perfume, Passenger and Brightest Morning Star have a lot more natural Britney than there has been in years. Tik Tik Boom is quite unique, the 'Wake Me Up' clone is solid and I love 'Body Ache' too, despite its genericness.
Femme Fatale had its moments but that was way more robotic and soulless I thought.

If it had done much better then most people would be talking about how amazing the album is and how you can really hear Britney's natural vocal and that it was great to see her with so much writing credit in an album etc etc
The album did badly because she was too lazy ass to promote it one little bit and her name alone was no longer good enough to sustain amazing sales... So it flopped and because it flopped, lots of fans are claiming it's because she didn't have much I put or will i am screwed it up or it's soulless etc. That's my opinion anyhow.
I'm just really hoping she promotes this next single because at least then she'll have a chance of actually doing well with it.

I just don't see Britney in the songs, even stuff like 'Passenger' which out to be a big emotional moment doesn't feel like it. Only great thing about that song is the amazing intro. 'Alien' I never got the fuss on and while 'Perfume' might be a more "raw" song that doesn't stop it being boring as hell (with a terrible missed opportunity of a video to boot). 'Brightest Morning Star' is actually something of a gem that I forgot but it and 'Work Bitch' can't carry an album on their own.
And frankly the existence of the generic songs just invalidates it as a "personal" album to me anyway. I am 99% certain that Britney's idea of personal music does not just happen to be what everyone was doing and getting hits with the year before, with featured artists she most likely hasn't heard a single song by.
To me Britney Jean and the existence of an Iggy Azalea collaboration just tells me that she's more happy to just follow her label's orders than ever. As far as I'm concerned the whole "every song has a Britney co-write!" thing was just a label gimmick.

But, to dismiss a track before it's released is just uncalled for? Like, you are just expecting something bad? Possibly she has created a great track with Iggy? Would it be better if it was Azalea Banks? I'd much rather her collaborate with no one, instead of the latter. Her wanting to collaborate with Iggy Is brave at this point. And it further proves Britney does what she likes and does not follow trends. THE LABEL THING TO DO would be to drop Iggy from the project.
Britney Spears is so tangible in the music market, it's crazy. She has fans that will follow her to the end, and her image is EXTREMELY marketable. I mean look at the expansion of young fans with Circus and Femme Fatale. Britney just shows an OUNCE of effort, they will come.
But, regardless. Let me tell you this. Britney's lead single always causes a commotion. After the f*** up with the era that is 'Britney Jean', it will not happen again. Bitch is still the money maker of pop music. More than any of her peers. Don't discount her because of a misstep with a second single on one album.
She may have to prove something to the UK. But, America is in the palm of her hand if she wants it to be. And America is what has always brought her the paycheck. HENCE, VEGAS. BYE.

^^I tend to agree with everything you've said but honestly, I'd rather her NOT collaborate with anyone. She doesn't need to, she just needs to release an amazing hit song that becomes a trademark song for her, a quintessential hit.
Work Bitch turned a lot better than most people make it to be... the song is bloody amazing and I'm sure its success goes way beyond its Billboard chart position would suggest. The problem with Britney Jean is that it seemed like an excuse to launch her Vegas residency more than being an album for the sake of releasing an album. And the worst of all is that it was marketed as her most personal ever, that alone generates immense expectations.

I think the label thing to do is to be completely behind the times in not realising that Iggy Azalea is not a name you want attached to your work, honestly. The label thing to do is also "omg featured artists make hits let's get more of them". I miss when Britney albums didn't come complete with random collaborations that nobody needs.
The song as a whole may not be terrible but it does mean it'll have at least a ~30 second section of nightmarish noise. I hate Iggy's feigned accent more than most anything I've heard.

I hoped if I closed my eyes, shut my ears and didn't read about any new information regarding Britney's upcoming single with Iggy Azalea that it'd go away.

A fan Tweeted Iggy saying an insider claimed their collab was "removed from Britney's album due to the fact that Iggy made the announcement on twitter," but alas... they were wrong, too.

Britney told reporters a few months ago she's aiming for an edgy pop rock album, something out of left field, so to hear about the collaboration moving on full steam ahead is slightly upsetting. I love Iggy Azalea's music, but she's quickly becoming the new Pitbull. Will they make a hot song together? Sure. Will it shake the Internet and reintroduce Britney Spears to a younger audience? Possibly. But will it be innovative? I'm leaning towards no.
As for debuting in a big way? Let's hope we can hold out long enough for a VMA premiere, shall we?

Britney has AT LEAST always laid a video down for a major single. I could see her snubbing a video with her if it were a remix. But, a lead single? Or a stand alone smash? She will record a video.
Really anything Britney releases after an extended period of time is a guaranteed top ten hit (even if for only it's debut week, hey UK), especially a lead single. Radio basically blacklisted "Work Bitch" in America for its TITLE. But, blacklisted for her in America is only going top 15 on pop radio, instead of top 3. And let's be honest 50% of her marketing strategy is releasing an epic video her fans die over.

If it's a good radio friendly track it will do well in America, on Britney's name alone. If RCA had done a halfway decent lyric video for 'Work Bitch' it would have debuted in the top ten. Without the new streaming chart it would have debuted at #6 instead of #12.

'Easy' is 2nd to 'About You Now' as my favourite Sugababes song <3 'The Show' is up there as one of GA's very best too and I loved Orson's first album. 'Never Forget You' by Noisettes is a JAM too. "So my second album, now I don't have this problem. So I hope it's a little bit more up-tempo and just really fun. I just want to have something so summer and so girly, so loud and obnoxious and braggadocios."

I'm not sure how I feel about the return of Urbaney I'm so curious as to how the general public will take to it. I love her older urban music but this feels like a slightly different direction, so it could go either way for me! But I'm glad she's mixing it up in any case.

I really feel like this is a record she wanted to make, and I think including Iggy made her want it even more. She has said numerous times how she's loved her work. Iggy overturned her self-imposed social media ban earlier this month to tweet how “extremely excited” she was about the release of “Pretty Girls” and that she was “going to perform it.” The latter comment started a global guessing game as fans tried to figure where the track would get its live showcase. Now we all know.
The two superstars join a glittering line-up of performers that already includes Kelly Clarkson, Fall Out Boy featuring Wiz Khalifa, Hozier, Nick Jonas, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Meghan Trainor and John Legend.
Britney and Iggy have each made strong impressions on the Billboard charts. Britney, a veteran of the BBMAs with six career wins, has charted six No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 and five No. 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100.

I totally disagree, I love it in a California Gurls cover type of way, it's all very cute, tongue in cheek. Does it look cheap? Yes, but in a way that seems intentional and cartoon-esque. It looks like it's had more thought put into it than a picture of Britney with her name in a logo with a bit of gradient.

Last I heard there's a copyright issue regarding the use of Britney's face from the Rolling Stones shoot Jay posted above. But that's just speculation. Hmm. I like this but I can't say it's her best lead single since anything as "Work Bitch" is in my top three Britney songs and this just doesn't compare, yet. It's insanely catchy and the production is great fun for a Britney song and I'm interested to see what the video will be like. I like that Iggy is kept to a minimum although the alternating lines in the pre-chorus was a nice addition.

I dislike 'Drop That Kitty' so the bits that sound blatantly like that are grating on me currently because i can just picture Charli's face. The rest is really good though, i love the alternating pre-chorus bit as has been mentioned and the production.
In terms of a HIT for her, i think it has a chance of doing half-decently.

June 14th seems quite reasonable. Given that it might not be playlisted by Radio 1, cause it's Britney, and she's supposedly not trendy anymore; the best thing it could happen to the song is to build the most TV airplay (and radio too if Capital FM is on board) it can and the most pre-orders so it can translate into a very successful first week chart position.

This is probably my favorite lead single by her since 'Gimme More'. Usually I fully appreciate a Britney single in the first 3 plays. But, this just gets better with every play.
A true 11/10 moment for her discography. This is EXACTLY what she needed after 'Britney Jean'. And I can't get over the fact she is actually promoting it! This is the first time she has committed to a promotional schedule right after a release (at least for the USA) since the 'In The Zone' era.

Hope Pretty Girls climbs to #1 in Ireland, it allows for a good prediction into its performance in the UK. That said, the charts in Ireland start tracking on a Thursday. If it was released on then it would probably be #1 due to the prospect of new releases that day rather than midweek as it would be now.
All charts globally need to begin sales tracking on the same day.

Very few songs get that high when they're first added so that's an EXCELLENT sign Quite unexpected too!
Taylor Swift's 'Shake It Off' took almost 12 hours to hit #1. This is at #6 and it's only been 8 hours.

Makes you wonder who the hell is awake during those hours downloading the song.
I hope it hits #1 on iTunes at least. If not, #3.

I think people forget how huge her fan base is. I mean everyone was quick to label her a flop, even in the USA, just because of her last albums performance. 'Work Bitch' was destined to underperform with no proper promo to bring it to the GP's attention. Were we really expecting a song with such an explicit title to smash pop radio? Let's remember the lead single from FF debuted at #1 and gave her the most top ten hits from a single album in the USA.
I agree she's out of touch with the UK's audience. But, she still managed to get a top ten peak with 'Work Bitch'. She's constantly underrated with her marketing power... ESPECIALLY in the USA.

She needs to get this on Streaming for the UK asap though. It'll help her as artists have stronger 2nd/3rd week streams than they do first week! I can see this doing SO well on streaming too tbh. When is this released again? 22nd June? If so, I'll be so happy if it got number 1 as it'd be the first time Britney has been number 1 on my birthday *.* (3rd July!).

Regardless even a fellow Stan has the right to dislike a singe by her. BUT HOLY SHIT. Don't pretend 'BRITNEY JEAN' is the second coming of Jesus Christ just because she releases something new! It's just so counter productive to call yourself a fan and just hate on everything she releases, but go back and praise it once she's released a new song.
