Which do you prefer and which would make a better single?

It's quite soon considering we got none of these in HQ, but there's something about WTTD that is sooooo lush.

But 808 is SO catchy too...

Posted by: seantobewild Aug 3 2014, 07:13 AM

Both are good tracks - still failing to see how 808 (I think?) can be described as What About Us Pt 2? huh.gif

EDIT: I've had 808 stuck in my head - the drop bit and fight like an animal or whatever the lyrics are!

Can someone tell me what '808' means? I don't understand it.

The top one! smile.gif

So close but I think "808" for both options. Both could easily be singles though.

Posted by: Rabbit Heart Aug 3 2014, 10:31 AM

I think I prefer both songs to WAYWF but I think they would need work to both of them if they were to become actual singles. WTTD needs a better chorus rather than just really singing 'night' over and over. If they sorted that out, I think that would be the better choice for the lead single. '808' would also probably need changes to the chorus, possibly changing the lyrics so it could be called something other than 808, not a very catchy single title.

They're both less generic than WAYWF for me but, while I think they probably would both have had a bit more support, I don't think either are they stand-out moment they needed to reverse their fortunes.

Both of these are actually pretty great, which makes me question even more why they opted with the terminally dull WAYWF to lead their greatest hits.

'Walking Through The Desert' probably edges it for me. smile.gif

I prefer Walking Through The Desert, 808 is very catchy but I think it would need a single remix to be released, it needs a bit more oomph I think. I'm not convinced either would do much better than What Are You Waiting For though...

Thank you!

On first listen 808 is alright but very generic. The 'drop like' parts are catchy but what a shit, B-Side like chorus. The start reminds me of What About Us but overall it's not impressed me.

About to listen to WTTD now...

Edit - MUCH BETTER!!! Love it. biggrin.gif Sounds very On Your Radar to me.

'Walking Through The Desert' for both for me. I love '808' as well of course but I don't think it would work as a single.

Posted by: yeeeah Aug 3 2014, 12:42 PM

I picked 808 as my favourite, but WTTD as the best single. Tbh, I think they're both quality enough tracks to be a single

Posted by: -Jay- Aug 3 2014, 12:47 PM

I'm not hugely into either of them at the moment, but I lean towards '808'.

Posted by: Regina Aug 3 2014, 12:48 PM

Both pretty decent, both better than WAYWF? too. 808 slightly better for me right now.

"Bang like a cannibal"? Is that what they're saying? laugh.gif I hope to GOD it is. Drop it like Dahmer y'all.

Posted by: Liаm Aug 3 2014, 12:49 PM

Is it only me hear who doesn't hear cannibal, it's definitely cannonball laugh.gif

Posted by: Joe. Aug 3 2014, 12:52 PM

It's cannonball.

Posted by: JSG Aug 3 2014, 01:13 PM

808 *.* That would be fantastic omg!

SH-SH-SH-SHAKE ME IF I'M DREAMING.

Nah, I heard it as "cannonball" from the first listen too! I guess people are too used to Ke$ha's "animal"/"cannibal" pairing. kink.gif

I forgot she has an EP/song called Cannibal laugh.gif maybe they could change the lyric so it is cannibal and have Ke$ha feature on it? kink.gif

808 does sound very What About Us part 2. Would be wise to add it to album six perhaps and use as the lead single.

Posted by: Defaze Aug 3 2014, 01:48 PM

I've just realised what 'Walking Through The Desert' reminds me of; 'Cheating' by John Newman! Not so much the lyrics, but the instrumental for sure.

The bass is actually quite similar and there's a double chorus, but that's pretty much it I think. I do think it's not exactly so different, but I wouldn't call it "2.0" either.

They probably got one step ahead of themselves when they called it the follow up laugh.gif

If WAYWF does well, 808 would be an obvious single to release for me, for me if they released Walking Through The Desert would be the same mistake as GA made with BCYLM when it was obvious On The Metro was THE one.

Am I the only one who hears "fuck like an animal" in the chorus of 808? laugh.gif

No me and my boyfriend just had this discussion, we think it makes more sense if it says "f***" and I prefer it that way.

there was a tweet a while ago that said The Saturdays were potty mouthed in a new song laugh.gif

Why can I just watch the result without having that "You have already voted in this poll", when I didn't ?

Anyone else having this problem? I wanna give 808' some Tot O'juctice!

Posted by: Lukuzz Aug 4 2014, 09:11 PM

I think I prefer 808 but its very close, I definitely think 808 would be the better single choice though

Posted by: Sociopath Aug 5 2014, 10:07 PM

i love 808 it's easily among their best stuff for me even after only hearing it a few days ago
