Casual/newer fans appear to love the album and think he's the best thing since sliced bread. Older fans don't like the album and said it's not him and brings nothing new, unqiue or interesting to the table. I think there is disappointment because he hyped the album so much and pushed it back 2/3 times claiming he wanted it to be perfect and the unreleased songs are synthy and autotuned. I actually got a little bored listening to the album. There is no magic, no storytelling and when he does say the right thing there is no emotion or grit that makes me believe it. He might be getting chart hits but it feels a little formulaic and everything he waited on sounds the same. That might be me as a lot of people do like the album.

oh didn't know what Sonder means... had to look it up...

sonder
n. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own—populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and inherited craziness—an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you’ll never know existed, in which you might appear only once, as an extra sipping coffee in the background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway, as a lighted window at dusk.

Um I was reading a Dutch review which rated Sonder 1 1/2 stars and called Dermot the Aldi version of Ed Sheeran oop and said your face will look like the album cover after 3 songs as they sound the same

I mean those are outlets which traditionally give fair reviews, especially Hotpress

Definitely not as good as his first album but there is some good songs on here. The stand outs for me are ‘Homeward’ and ‘One Life’

I think the problem is his label seen how well songs like ‘Giants’ did and said they want more like that and less of the songs like ‘Moments Passed’ and ‘Lost’

I love Dermot. Despite two #1 albums and some hits he still quite underrated.

His first album did have a long chart run though with over 100 weeks top 100 in the UK so hopefully this album can stick around a while and get some post Christmas singles / promotion.

I think it will stick around for a good chart life.
Not to level Without Fear reached but should spend a decent number of weeks on the chart.
A new edition is sure to be released at some point.
