3rd March 2019

It's straight in at 1 for 1978 Eurodisco obscure goodie American Generation, giving The Ritchie Family a belated chart-topper 40 years after it peaked around 40 places lower, and thanks to my rediscovering it and entering it into the BJSC. I've gone slightly mad on it's hooks and retro-charm! The sisters first charted in 1975 for me, then hit my top 10 with The Best Disco In Town in 1976, and have had to wait a whopping 44 years to get that chart-topper.

This week I've been on holiday in Gran Canaria, and haven't had any time to listen to new music, or current music for the most part, so mostly oldies enter my charts. I was at the airport when I heard the sad news about the death of Keith Flint, hence his greatest moment back in my top 5 23 years on, on top of the loss of Talk Talk mainman Mark Hollis, which has also brought their best tracks back in my chart for the 3rd time in the case of chart-topper It's My Life, and twice top tenner Life's What You Make It.

Hi John!

American Generation is a pretty decent track, great to see it qualify for the final!

Firestarter is one of The Prodigy's best, it's tragic what's happened as I've grown up listening to their music and it doesn't feel right that he's not around anymore sad.gif

And of course Talk Talk as well sad.gif That one reminds me of being younger as well even if I wasn't around when it was released, a great song!

Great chart biggrin.gif

Hi Pete,

Thanks for dropping by! smile.gif Glad you like The Ritchie Family track, it's one I liked but got overshadowed by much more famous tracks at the time, so I'm happy to see some Eurodisco cheese make it laugh.gif

Sad about Keith & Mark yes, though Talk Talk were also really 90's as they had reissued success with some of their 80's tracks.

Cheers! cool.gif

Thanks Sven, I'm surprised you know The Ritchie Family, though it was bigger in Europe than the UK (where no-one knows it!) heart.gif

Khalid still almost top 10 this week due to an invasion of new stuff! cool.gif

cheers!

Hello John!
Nice to see the Prodigy debuts, still sad what happened to Keith.
I'm also surprised I haven't seen "Such A Shame" by Talk Talk, in your chart, but 2 other songs, one including "It's My Life", which I've heard. "Such A Shame" is actually played from time to time on a german radio I'm hearing.
I also like the huge gain for "Graffiti" and the Prodigy debuts!
Great chart!
