It will prob keep falling fast now but its had a decent chart run so far and has managed platinum so it's a good enough improvement on wonderland.

Yes, it was enjoyable seeing Odyssey making sales improvement on the previous release.
I did potentially think Odyssey would sell in stronger numbers.

Sales have been reasonable in today's climate, but I tend to agree with you, Pippa. I don't think their sales have been that good, disappointing if I'm honest. Although I don't mind the changes it would probably have been better to stick to the originals and I would have put more of the older songs on the album.

The TV promo wasn't actually that good. It focused on the history of the group, but the album was more of an afterthought. Maybe they were told that it had to be a documentary style of programme. An Audience With Mark Two would have been a more productive way of pushing the album.

Re European tour: I've read some negative tweets, but also a lot of positive ones, so all in all a mixed reception. I know this has already been mentioned by myself and others, but Mark doesn't look well at all and I've been shocked by recent tour photographs. He is full of energy, but facial his skin tone is poor, and his face is quite sunken in many of the photographs - I do hope he's ok?

An original Greatest Hits is something i much would have preferred and i i also feel it would have done better.
I think the Tour may have benefited more from the original versions too.

A standard Greatest Hits would definitely have sold more - I think calling it Odyssey and reworking a lot of the tracks stopped it reaching the sales a greatest hits album should do. No1 is still nothing to be ashamed of though.

One of the things I'm enjoying seeing on the European leg is more spontaneity that you can get from smaller more intimate shows - Howard crowd surfed in Vienna and Gary hit an amazing falsetto note that lasted ages in Relight My Fire - the UK shows did seem extremely scripted. Also, they're changing their outfits for each show and look fantastic. Still think Europe have been short changed with the setlist though.

Today is the last show of the tour. What an experience it has been.

Agree with all of the above. European fans deserved a full set. That aside, the smaller shows seem to have been so much fun and my goodness, some of the venues have been so, so beautiful. I wish I'd booked one of the European gigs instead of two UK ones. I also agree regarding the 'scripted' nature of their shows. I've always found this quite irritating, and although I'm no fan of Rob as a live performer, I think they have a lot to learn from him in this regard.

It's been a successful tour on the whole, and the album has garnered reasonable sales, but as many of us have said, it could have been more successful. During their hiatus I hope they reassess their musical direction and return to the type of pop songs they're best known for. Whist I enjoy songs such as GRFT, Giants and Cry they simply don't connect in the same way and in recent years the quality hasn't been there - although there have been some gems that haven't received the airing they deserve. I fear if they don't return with a very strong album with an emphasis on simplicity and vocal harmonies we'll see a continued decline.

For now, this week looks likely to be Odysseys last week in the Top 100 as the album has dropped into the mid 80s region of the chart.

Interesting that some believe a straight GH comprising of the previously released singles would have done better than the Odyssey versions. I don’t really see why, when people had those versions already? I find it quite refreshing (despite not enjoying all of these new versions) that they tried something different and didn’t just take the easy road out and port 20 songs onto a CD and send it out.

I would be one of those people as there was no Greatest Hits release of all the original work from once they reformed.
The new versions could have been added to a later re-release but should not have become the main release.

I'm the same and would have far preferred a normal greatest hits.

It is likely a future Greatest Hits will get released or a 1 CD best of that will have just their biggest hits.

I would prefer it that way if given the option.
That said, this is a release i am unsure if il purchase or not as i didn't particularly enjoy Odyssey.

It has to be the DVD as I'm sure outside this Gary is fully focused on his new solo album which I cant wait for.
