Thanks for the information Rob Do you know if I've missed any other 500,000+ sellers? I've heard Bangles - Eternal Flame was the 161st biggest seller of the 80s and was the biggest non half million seller? Eternal Flame sold 498,000 copies - it was Alan Jones who mentioned this at the same time that he mentioned the top 160 had all passed 500,000 sales and Eternal Flame was at #161 for the decade.Off the top of my head I can't think of any other records that may have sold 500,000 but I'll have a look around what I've got, sales wise, and see if I can find anything else... Found some more sales figures- some of the sales here are definitely too high but I have those same sales as you have - they were guesstimates made by a poster at Haven a couple of years ago.The bangles-eternal flame 598,000 Tiffany-i think we're alone now 535,000 Glenn mederious-nothings gonna change my love for you 517,000 Jason donovan-too many broken hearts 507,000 Eternal Flame sold 498,000 copies which would put Too Many Broken Hearts on lower sales too. The Tiffany and Glenn Medeiros sales are also guesstimates but I don't know how accurate they are. I'd imagine they are probably close as both records were certified Gold for shipments of over 500,000 each. |

Don't think Holiday passed 500,000+ until 1991 (but I could be wrong). Plus in 1989, only two singles passed half million mark. I think Like A Prayer passed the half million mark since, but not in 1989. Saving All My Love For You probably sold 500,000+, but I'm not sure about the others. Anyone else know? but even if the sales are from, letīs say 1991, LAP was out in 1989...doesnīt it count as an 80īs single? |

I was shocked to find that "Stay" by Shakespears Sister did not make the top 100 biggest sellers of the 90s even though it peaked at #1 for eight weeks back in 1992, so does anybody know how many copies it sold and also what position it would come in the top 200 sellers of the 90s. Thanks.

'Stay' was the 4th Best Seller of 1992. Despite 8 Weeks at No.1, it only sold around 490,000 copies! |

'Walk Like An Egyptian' reached No.3 in 1986. It was the 23rd Best Seller of that Year - around 390,000 Sales. 'Stay' by Shakespears Sister, would only have been the 13th Best Seller of 1986, had it been a Hit that Year. And had The Bangles Hit been a 1992 Single, it would have been the 9th Best Seller of 1992. |

The OCC have the Top 50 Singles of each Year of the 1980's
- with all their estimated and/or announced Sales. However, I don't know what they plan to do with them. All I know is that they were compiled for them - at their request - in July 2008. No doubt, The OCC will use them - for some purpose - one day. A Top 300 of The 1980's was created from the Year End Top 50's. This post has been edited by zeus555: 8th April 2009, 06:03 PM |
