Its Melanie's 2nd UK single from This Time. I know im being really optimistic in saying this, but I really think radio might love it, should go top 10! It certainly deserves it. Released 25th May in Europe so the vid should premiere by the end of April, I hope!

What are your thoughts?

Yes but look at Bev! Downloads arent really her forte, yet CD sales let her highish into the chart. And i think...possibly...Carolyna is as good as Next Best Superstar And that got to number 10 lol

It needs a different sound for the Radio Edit like "I Turn To You" because it's really boring! also a B-Side would boost it up

I don't think the public will take to any solo efforts by any of the girls any more, there just seems to be a general snubbery even with great songs such as 'Carolyna'

They need to get back together for a tour and release the GH .. with say 2/3 singles and then do solo again... it will mean everyone will want to work with them again >>> better songs>>> better albums>>>back in the spotlight>>>better sale BUT they need to wait for indie to die down abit .. and seeing emma is pregnant and stuff.. the comeback time may be right

midweeks suggest mel c may just scrape a top 30 placing on sunday this is a huge shame as this is far far better than i want candy and deserves to do much better,downloads go agsint mel c as her phyisical sales get her a high chart plaing

I prefer I Want Candy, she dances better in that too lol. Carolyna is, for me, her worst single to date. Overpriced, HORRIBLE DVD cover (tranny alert! No offense) and just boring. Natalie Imbruglia does this sort of music a million times better.

I predict no.45, shame it will chart higher than Emma All I Need To Know (though Life In Mono sold approx. 5 times This Time), but then it's not really a competition and any spice girl charting is a good thing!

I think Emma did ok, 45,000 isn't too bad, i mean she sold approx. 100k for the previos albums so I was pleased with the sales really. Think she'd have sold more too if she'd released a different song/3rd single like Life In Mono.


According to DenDen (and my memory ) it's on just over 8k at the moment... the 2nd least successful spice girl album (after Mel B )

Mel needs a mix of BI and TT for a 5th album. Both great, and blending a good mix of tracks together would work better.

But even the best music in the world wouldn't get any Spice Girl back at the top of the chart due to the snobbery of the British public

Indeed it is, 'This Time' is brilliant - love a lot of the tracks, especially 'Understand', 'Carolyna' and 'Your Mistake'

I Want Candy sold 10k (just) and This Time's current UK sales are just 8,300

No sales but its Gold in Switzerland, which is 20k+. Its had a great run in Germany so it'll have sold about 30k there probs, so I'd predict the worldwide total to be about 80k!

I know I was so shocked Carolyna didnt chart after she went on the Late Late Show but then again, that was about a month before release She needs to do some signings in Britain next time.

And sales in Germany are back on the up too!

Carolyna has charted at 37 in Germany and is looking very like to rise, 74 in Austria too and again, very likely to rise. Not released in Switzerland until 21st July.

I hope so. I think it'd be really great if Melanie would continue to release whilst touring or whatever as part of the Spice Girls...just being a Spice Girl would be all the promotion needed.

I been thinkin about this, and I can see how it might slightly increase sales of Northern Star and Schizo (poss even Free Me) but the other albums are less known so doubt it'll have an impact.

UNLESS, woolies HMV etc set about selling most at reduced price (along with spice girl stuff) on shelves - that might have an impact - otherwise, well, I doubt anyone knows Mel C This Time is out!

Apparently Life In Mono is £2 and Passion is defo £3 in FOPP (I got geri out of embarrassment of it being on the shelf at such a low price )
