Couldn't find a topic on the second album, but several on her singles (that were eventually scrapped etc..). If there is a thread, please feel free to merge!
She's set to release her 2nd studio album (finally!) at some point this year, I guess, what with X Factor and all that. All three singles so far have been nothing short of brilliance. She debuted the track she wrote with ultimate "friend-zoned" popstar, Ed Sheeran. It's called 'Us' and below is a low quality, live rip of it.
Beautiful <3
Not too sure on the official tracklisting as of yet, but the songs likely to be on the album are -

• https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwL9vOBxeXY (feat. Chris Brown)

Not too sure if GALC is going to be on this album after it was scrapped as the follow up single to 'I Will Never Let You Down'... but we'll see.
I dunno if IWNLYD will make the album?
I don't think Calvin will allow her to include IWNLYD in the album in any form or shape.
That was my thinking.
Really wish we were getting Get a Little Closer, it sounded SO good from the live performances
Will Calvin have any control over I Will Never Let You Down? It's been released, unlike the other tracks from the original album. I hope it's on there anyway, it's her best song!
I think so? He managed to stop her performing it on the Kids Choice Awards? I think because he wrote and produced it he owns it? I'm guessing??
Yeah he stopped her from promoting it in the US, so I imagine he can stop her from.putting it on her album as well
Too bad that happened with Calvin as IWNLYD was by far her best song to date and 'Get a Little Closer' sounded very interesting as well. 'Poison' and 'Body on Me' don't do anything for me.
Rita recently performed a track called 'Religion' with Wiz Khalifa. Maybe that will make the album!
It's a shame that we may not get to hear the studio version of 'Get a Little Closer', I was expecting it to be an absolute gem
I agree, I doubt Calvin will give permission for I Will Never Let You Down to be put on the album which is a shame.
Surely the company will try everything they can to keep IWNLYD? A #1 would be a great help in towards selling the album!
Can Calvin Harris just stop acting like a petulant child, and learn to separate business from one's personal life?
Rita performed IWNLYD at the Summertime Ball this year so it's not that she's not allowed to sing it or anything but it won't be on the album because Rita's said several times that Poison was the first single
Always here for a bit of StarGate! Excited to see what else they can muster up together. Obviously ADORED 'R.I.P.' and a lot of other stuff for other people
What Calvin did to Rita with regard to this album was blackmail and awful on his part, she would have had so much success off the back of IWNLYD last year if it wasn't for him
You're all commenting on something where you have no idea of the circumstances of what happened.
I may be reading a bit too much into things but I still think Poison and its music video has an underlying message as to what happened between them
he broke ha heart and took ha album. she was like noooooo and he was like take that bitch i never loved ya get money bitch is my motto you stupid bitch. and she was like noooooo calvin i love you you broke ma heart nooo *cries*
it's the truestest fact, froot! don't you read the sun?!?
I have been living under a rock for the last few months apparently but Poison is absolutely fantastic. Utterly obsessed!
Looks like things could FINALLY be happening.
I have a feeling her previous three singles will have been scrapped from this album, which would be a shame as 'I Will Never Let You Down' is perhaps my favourite from her and 'Body On Me' suited her very well and was a sound that be good to continue with.
Finally some news! Good to see her back on track. It would be nice to at least have Body on Me as part of the album, but I wouldn't be surprised if they left all the previous singles off.
'bout time!
Ready to be slayed.
Finally! I guess she really did milk her celebrity status for years without releasing another album
If all the previous singles are scrapped, especially as they were with her previous label, I can see it being about a year before this is out. They will need to rebuild her. People have probably forgotten that she's a singer and not some random blonde.
I'm happy for this, I was wondering what she is up to.
First new music from her in over a year is a Target Deluxe Track on the Fifty Shades Soundtrack. RIP.
http://ritaora.com.br/ouca-kiss-me-nova-musica-de-rita-ora-para-a-trilha-de-cinquenta-tons-mais-escuros/
Called "Kiss Me". It's actually quite good though and a shame it wasn't included on the main soundtrack.
I've got a feeling she won't actually release again tbh.
Single's coming March, album May, apparently. Ingest with several grains of salt.
I hope so! But for now, the 'After the Afterparty' remix will have to do!
New single in April apparently!
Does anyone really care for new Rita Ora anymore?
yes!!!!
i'm actually excited for this tho
Despite the long wait, I'm still hyped for new Rita.
Also it wasn't her fault, she's had Calvin-gate followed by label issues. I'm glad things seem to finally be working out for her to release another album though.
I'm really hoping she can deliver, I've loved most of her singles so far!
I didn't care about her debut whatsoever, but everything since has been pure 🔥 so I couldn't be more excited for it to be honest :') Really hope she has a huge comeback.
IWNLYD/Poison/Body On Me were all fantastic! She really should have just shoved the album out after them so she had her new era now
Am I missing something about label issues?
Edit: Googled, never mind
Wasn't it the odd release strategy that killed 'Body On Me' over here? Wasn't it her first on air/on sale single and released mid-week? (I might have made some of that up though lmao)

She is proper amazing like almost all of the time, I know the hype has probably faded because she's been away so long but some of her songs are utter pop tunes. I hope she can knock it out of the park with her return single and get a chart hit She's done a good job of staying famous at least even if most people have probably forgotten she makes music too

She posted this teaser on Twitter: https://twitter.com/RitaOra/status/854146717649780737
Everyone thinks it means her lead single will be produced by Marshmello! It must be coming quite soon if she's starting teasing it now ;o
A Marshmello produced pop banger - I approve *.*

Omg Marshmello would be an absolutely FAB fit for Rita, I'd be here for that!
She's going to be at Radio 1's big weekend. So I suspect newness is coming very soon.
Anything as fantastic as Poison and I'm here. Not here for the crap she served up for her debut (minus RIP).
Come and serve us the bops Rita.
In the mean time, I will try out the rate.

Apparently, new single is coming on Friday!!!
YESSSS!! SO HYPED.
Bring it please Rita
Supposedly called Your Song and is coming on the 26th May!
So the original lead single was a song called "Girls" featuring Charli XCX & MO A dancehall inspired banger!!!!! But the label wanted the Ed Sheeran song to be lead, so I'm guess that's why there was a delay.
Also some more about the album:
Oh OF COURSE they'd drop Charli and MO for Ed bloody Sheeran I'm just glad it's actually happening now either way
Gutting that a collab between three pop QUEENS was snubbed over an Ed Sheeran wrote track for lead I'm sure it'll be a banger though, judging by what we know so far!
Seriously I feel like she'll be HUGE this era, it's all shaping up so well and some of the names she's got on board scream smash after smash from this album <3
The Charli/MØ collab will probably be my song of the year, judging by everything we've heard about it.
I'm not really here for an Ed Sheeran co-write whatsoever but I'll reserve judgement until I've heard it. Bet I'll love it anyway 💁🏼♂️
She performed "Girls" with Charli XCX and RAYE and a new track called "Summer Love" at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Her 1 Big Weekend set was incredible. As a performer she handed the likes of Katy and Zara their asses on a plate. Girl slayed.
Both new songs sound great but Summer Love is the huge hit surely. That perf of I Will Never has to be the best of her career. WOO RITA
Watching now!
Exciting!
GIRLS IS LIFE CHANGING
jesus if summer love doesn't smash i GIVE UP
rita is rlly giving us everything <3333
im listening to girls again and the studio of this could easily go straight into my top 10 of this year
I LOVE IT GIVE IT TO US SOON RITA
Omg what a bop
Tbh Halsey should take notes on how to write a bisexual anthem
Omg yeeeeesss at Rita's comeback, why did it take so long I love her tbh, she is so nice in terms of personality and she always brings it musically too!! Her look was quite something too but she pulled it off *-* It gave me Whoopi Goldberg teas
I really enjoyed that set, my highlights being I Will Never Let You Down (still her best song!) and Coming Home was very nice too. Both new songs sounded good too, more so Summer Love which sounds like a hit single to my ears!! I'm still kind of gutted that we never got Get A Little Closer in studio form though, I know that I would have ADORED that
I heard Hot Right Now on the radio the other day and it still completely goes OFF, what a banger! Was a great way to end a great set.
What a set!
'Girls' was my favourite of the two new songs, but I love both already. 'I Will Never Let You Down' NEVER fails to bring a smile to my face!
Summer Love is a banger omg! I'm not even a Rita fan tbh and I'm exciited for this era.
I am shocked she never sang Doing It if Charli was there
'Girls' is amazing. Can't wait to hear the studio version of that. Charli ❤️
Hopefully we'll hear something about the album soon.
She looked amazing as well. She's so stunning.
all of the songs r very cute and at the very worst i expect a decent album!
YASSSS <3
Her set was really good! Girls and Summer Love sound amazing. This album is already shaping up to be far better than her weak debut.
I really enjoyed her R1 set.. I'm baffled by some of the song choices but she really has had some major bops.
It's strange to think that Rita, as a pop girl, hasn't even released a second album yet. Her debut being 5 years ago.. she's done extremely well to stay relevant all that time.
Imagine where you were 5 years ago and enjoying songs from Rita's first album to where you are now and enjoying songs from her second.. it's kinda crazy to me!
She performed a new song yesterday called 'Lonely Together':
https://twitter.com/emileyisabella/status/879845274277085184
Sounds nice.
this sounds rlly cute!! gutted we have to wait til november for the album
I need the studio version of 'Girls' NOW
I think she's doing quite well considering she went away for two years and was on rather shaky foundations when she last released something.
She said this morning that the album will be coming "early next year"
I mean, at least the material sounds promising, but I really thought she would release this along with the release of a second single in a couple months time.
2018? Why.... Your Song has been a big hit but if single 2 flops then she has no chance!
Oh dear I mean I think Q1 is probably a quieter time for her to release and it may give her a better peak but another pushback is the last thing we need!
I've got faith in her new team/label, everything so far has been on point.
Yeah I've got faith that they know what they're doing this time around. Infuriating having to wait even longer though!
'Girls' to be released ASAP please. I want it to be top 40 at the same time as 'Boys' 💖
It would be nice to have Girls for UK / Europe / Australia while they're pushing Your Song in America to tide us over!
Yeah definitely! Sounds much more Europe-friendly so that would make sense
Apparently Rita said in an interview 'Girls' is gonna be next release and it's coming in October.
THANK THE LORD. Wish it was sooner though.
She really is ridiculous with the amount of time she leaves between releases. Thankfully it looks like the Avicii track is going to become a hit in the meantime (although I'm still not loving it unforch), otherwise any and all momentum for the second album will be lost and she may as well start the campaign again in January.
Yasss. Hopefully an XF perf!
So in her interview with Clara following her Live Lounge performance, regarding the album, she stated that she's never been prouder of anything in her whole life - then said that as it's her birthday in November (!), something might happen then, before saying that she just loves putting out songs and at one point we will get the whole package.
Honestly this girl is a MESS. December 2018 it is?
In other words, we ain't getting the album
If she loves putting out songs so much she can hurry up and give us Girls.
I'm here for Rita Ora ft. Gemma Collins tbh
I have faith in her new team, everything has been so on point with Your Song and now Lonely Together blowing up. At the start of this year, who'd have thought Rita would be getting such huge hits!!
She's hosting and performing at the EMAs at Wembley Arena on 12 November. Hope there's a new solo single to perform by then
https://www.theguardian.com/music/2017/oct/26/rita-ora-on-breakups-and-burnout-terry-richardson
Yeah that is ridiculous! If this turns into another 'So Good'/'Dua Lipa' situation where the lead-in single isn't as successful as the previous singles and the album peaks lower than it should've, I will be mad! Girl deserves 2 for 2 #1 albums 😏
So the OCC have said that "Lonely Together" will appear on the album, alongside Rita's two singles from this year. She's also worked on songs with Stargate and Julia Michaels.
Girls supposedly featuring Bebe & Charli now! <3
I wonder what the deal is with RAYE and why she isn't on it anymore?
Bebe basically confirmed that someone else will feature on the track.
I reckon it’s Dua Lipa.
The deal is basically they didn't think she'd be this successful with this era and are getting more 'relevant' artists to feature now she is.
Also it was never RAYE on the studio - there's a demo with MO singing Charli's part from the live performance!
How is Bebe getting all these features? First Louis? Now Rita? Shes literally never had a hit
at this point can we just get Rita Ora ft MO, Charli XCX, RAYE & Bebe Rexha - Girls
Coming out in March apparently!! https://twitter.com/bigtop40/status/952609715099504640
How can she just casually mention a release date for such a specific time but not actually announce anything officially? On such a redundant chart programme too! This girl trolls too much 😏
I'm hoping that means we've got news coming soon!
Makes sense to be March, we'll probably also get Girls a little before too!
Yaaaasss! Finally. Hopefully. Ugh. I guess we won't actually find out until March
I'm ready for her album so much. I had a lot of requests for it over Christmas at work (more than usual) so people are anticipating it! I reckon she could have a big album, despite the delays!
Not Anne Marie managing to get out an alum pre-order before Rita.
Such a shame there was no pre-order last night for her Brits performance.
Should’ve put out a pre-order a few weeks ago, even if it’s not released I’ll September.
I'm sure I read a article saying it's definitely out in May and we're getting a new single 'very soon'.
Album delayed to the autumn
I'm literally not believing it until I see it on the shelf the day of release tbh. :')
Way to lose all momentum. Ffs.
It's never gonna happen.
Seriously though, what are they doing? 'Anywhere' was 6 months ago now, where is the follow-up?
I suppose 'For You' bridged the gap and will probably be on the album but we need something new now, hopefully it's coming, especially with the tour next month!
Omg, I can't believe it has been pushed back again
So she’s going on tour next month without a new album of content to be promoting? I really hope the next single is soon..
It’s quite funny that she got signed to her first label in 2008 to release her debut album, and a whole ten years later she’s still yet to follow that debut up
It's ridiculous. What will it take for her label to release the album?! She's had 4 top 10s in a row and they still won't release it :s
Maybe said album doesn't even exist?
It's a mess that this hasn't been released yet, she had several hits last year, it would have been ideal to have had it after Anywhere was big as Lonely Together and Your Song would have still been fresh in people's minds
I am literally in need of this so so much!
6 year since her debut almost.
2018 surely has got to be the year / time it eventually comes!
Apparently this is pushed to November?!
Why all the delays, at this rate, the album will be almost like a Greatest Hits by the time she releases it.
November sounds about right to me?
Girls clearly isn’t going to be the big hit they were expecting (and I was hoping ) it to be, and the gaps between singles are always forever. Especially if it’s going to be the single to launch the album from, they need to make sure it’s he right choice.
Just hope if it is released in November it doesn’t get too lost amongst the other q4 releases, which I can easily see happening.
I'm just shocked at how wrong Atlantic/Warner have got this campaign. If they released it after "Anywhere" with the solo version of "Girls" included, they could have responded to some of the criticism over the lyrics and edited them before the collab was released.
"Your Song" is going to sound so out of place, if they even include it.
The album should have been put out in January as Anywhere was still riding high in the charts at that point but beginning to die
It would've been perfect timing really, like Syco got Camila's timing just right between Havana and the album.
No posts in the Rita forum since 16th June! :') It seems Rita is only keeping her name out there at the moment due to the outfits she's wearing on holiday, which I suppose is a discussion point that most of us aren't interested in, lol.
I think it's fair to say that 'Girls' was borderline disastrous for her. I mean sure, it's managed 2 months in the UK Top 40 which some artists would kill for, but for someone of Rita's calibre, clearly far more than that was aimed for/expected. I'm convinced that her label was confident that this was a surefire #1 smash and that it would be the song to finally break her in the US. The fact that it's actually one of the worst performing of her career to date must have come as a shock. I really hope a new single is imminent that is really undeniably great, and that she can effectively sweep Girls under the carpet.
It's a pity to think that Rita achieved a string of huge hits last year and yet there's still no second album in sight. All the goodwill towards those hits (in terms of making a second album a viably successful prospect) is essentially wasted, because they're old news. It's now been a whole year since Your Song impacted in the UK Top 10, and over six months since Anywhere became massive. She'll essentially be starting from scratch yet again to try and launch an album era.
Anyway ,I'll keep everything crossed that she gets back on track with her next release. Surely her label can't let the rest of this year slip by without an album?
If and when she releases another album I'm gonna need a few weeks off work just to cope with the emotions.
Ideally, the album would have been released on the back of Anywhere and a different song (not Girls) as a follow up single.
Had it gone that way i am of the belief the album would have performed well for her.
It does feel that some of the momentum is now gone.
That said, she may have another strong song lined up, with hope, she has another Anywhere size hit to come.
If it is a Q4 release her sales should still be high but it may mean it won't be another #1 album for her.
The gag is ‘anywhere’ was released as an in between single as expectations for ‘girls’ were huge and its the bigger song
Remember when she had had two massive hits and could have released the album off the back of that but released For You instead which did okay but then released Girls which was a but of a flop comparatively. MESS.
Hype thrown away! Jonjo said people were actually ASKING for her album in HMV at Christmas!
She was in the studio recently and has just posted a video preview on Instagram so it looks like they're finally moving on! I'm sure the next single will be out by Christmas
The album will be like a mini Greatest Hits by the time it gets released.
She’ll probably release an album late this year made up of all new songs and just count everything else as non-album like IWNLYD, Poison etc.
Girls was an extreme misfire. I was really looking forward to the album after Anywhere, Lonely Together & Your Song - For You less so but Girls just kinda put that fire out instantly. Not only because of how controversial (to say the least) the song itself was but also the responses of everyone involved :’) Charli had the right idea to move on with the much better Bitches but tough luck for everyone else
Girls was a bad move after the awesome Anywhere and it has put a big dampener on the album.
Literally at that point now, where I'm thinking neither Your Song, Anywhere OR Girls are gonna be on the album...
FFS. How did she go from being one of the best marketed debut eras of this Decade, to being such a shambles?! Arghhhh
She should just chuck an EP atm
I at this point feel we will get news that the second album has been scrapped and they are starting again.
The 2nd album, as it stands now, or wherever it is, looks likely never to see the light of day.
This era started so promising but now looks like a disaster.
Babes is too busy pursuing her modelling career - she's just signed with Kate Moss's agency.
Rita wot u doing
It's infuriating how things have turned out. That run of major hits in Your Song/Lonely Together/Anywhere (and to an extent For You)... there couldn't have been a more perfect time to release the second album, and it would have undoubtedly been to great success given how strong her streaming was for the singles.
This month marks 6 years since the release of her debut album, and at this point it feels like she's no closer to releasing her second album than she was when she released I Will Never Let You Down. She's had three different sets of material that could have formed her second album, and with how quiet things have gone recently, it makes me wonder if she'll be going back to the drawing board yet again?
Crazy to think, but Ariana Grande released her debut album a year after ORA, and she's days away from releasing her fourth album. With Rita's length of career, at this stage she probably should have completed a fourth album era and be looking to get to work on the fifth. Sigh.
She seems to have confirmed to Glamour Magazine that this is coming in November, the same month that her birthday falls. I really hope this is true as it just feels ridiculous that we've waited almost a full year since her biggest hit to get it.
OCC posted the article including quotes from ha interview: http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/rita-ora-confirms-when-her-second-album-is-finally-coming-out-i-ve-had-to-fight-so-hard-for-this__23703/
She doesn't mention a year tho, ready for this to come in November 2065 x
!
Not believing anything until I have the CD in my hand. And even then I wouldn't be surprised for her to recall all copies and postpone it once again.
i believe she’s now doing an intensive part time hairdressing course so the records delayed until april/tbc
Well she’s gotta make a living somehow
"I have my album coming in November, I have my new single, which is called 'Let You Love Me', coming at the end of this month, so yeah, good things are coming and I'm excited" - Rita Ora right now on BBC Radio 2
Still coming this year seemingly!
Album seems to be called Phoenix, released 23rd November!! https://store.hmv.com/music/cd/phoenix-(2)
I want to believe it's happening but because of all the delays I still can't! I'ma wait until I see it sitting on the iTunes chart tbh
It should’ve been released last year when Anywhere was smashing. It could’ve helped Anywhere go #1!
Does anyone else think that Anywhere is one of the best pop songs of all time?
Anywhere has held up so well for me over the past ~year or so, it's a stormer of a pop song and seeing it become such a huge smash was so satisfying For me she's not put a foot wrong this era (even if Girls was a commercial misfire, I still love it)
Not her releasing on my birthday. Worst birthday ever, hope ot gets delayed xxx
Girls was DREADFUL!
Is this real life? x
Love the title especially as the meaning is so obvious
READY. TO. BE. SLAYED.
Was https://images.store.hmv.com/app_/responsive/HMVStore/media/product/431854/01-431854.jpg (not embedding because it's too big) in the HMV link before? I'm asking this because I didn't see it when I was on mobile and I'm wondering if this is a placeholder or the actual album artwork.
Oooh, no that wasn't showing up earlier! This is actually starting to feel real. A 12" Vinyl preorder for only £12.99 too.
This must be a mistake surely, randomly popping up on HMV without any hype/announcement?
If this is it definitely happening now I'm ready!
The HMV link didn't work for me! Are they trolling or is this actually happening?!
I hope this is actually happening!
It fits in with her wanting to release the album on her birthday as well (as close as possible at least)!
The fact that HMV removed the links seems that they put it earlier, so I guess they will work again once there's an official annoucement, which I assume it will be this week. An insider said that "Let You Love Me" is going to be released on Friday (they didn't mention if it's going to be as a standalone release or as an instant grat, but I guess it's going to be the latter) and "Summer Love" will be included in the album, plus her singles ("Your Song", "Anywhere" and "Girls") and "For You".
She’s confirmed the title and November 23rd release now. FINALLY.
Tracklist is out!
All singles since your song are on there (including lonely together) and Anywhere opens the album 😍

8 For You (Fifty Shades Freed) (Rita Ora & Liam Payne)
9 Summer Love (Rita Ora & Rudimental)
10 Girls (feat. Cardi B, Bebe Rexha & Charli XCX)
11 TBA
12 Hell of A Life
13 Velvet Rope

16 Soul Survivor
12 tracks on the standard, 16 on the deluxe, the pre-order will be live on iTunes at midnight! https://itunes.apple.com/nz/album/phoenix-deluxe/1436290232
EDIT: the other track titles have been edited in from her official store, track 11 is marked as "unannounced" on there.
Oh my god! I'm glad she's reverted to using the artwork style from "Your Song" and "Anywhere" for this. Maybe they'll use the original "Girls" artwork for "Let You Love Me" Can't wait to hear that and the finished version of "Summer Love" too! 16 songs is a decent amount for such a long wait.
She's also announced a 2019 European tour, with presale codes for those who pre order the album
Excited to hear the studio version of Soul Survivor, that was incredible on the tour.
I can't help but feel like 'Let You Love Me' is going to have to really pull it out of the bag for her to recover this.
Nice to see all the singles since Your Song on there! Also glad to see them reverting back to the original artwork style after Girls :')
I will never let you down deserves to be on the album
So I've ordered the vinyl of this because it's so cheap and I figured that I'd probably never listen to the CD regardless if I were to buy it so I thought why not. During checkout, I noticed that the url for the pre-order has /cd/ instead of /vinyl/ (https://store.hmv.com/music/cd/phoenix-(3)) and it is listed as being a Deluxe Edition with no Deluxe CD or Standard Vinyl listed on HMV's website. Could this be a mistake on HMV's part and there actually is no vinyl available?
Definitely CDs only (in HMV), this is the HMV banner that mentions the formats:
https://images.store.hmv.com/app_/responsive/HMVStore/media/banners/RITA_internal_hero_panel.jpg
I guess they'll have a lot of unhappy customers if they've pre-ordered thinking they're going to be receiving a vinyl D:
So her official store is now listing a vinyl for £21.99 but HMV are still listing the deluxe CD as a vinyl...
Do we think track 11 will be "Nowhere", then?
Also, I just realised the other day that "Proud" hasn't been included on the album A shame, issa cute bop.
I don't think it will be the Clean Bandit track, supposedly the unannounced song is a collaboration with a majorly successful rapper!
Unless she counts Kyle as ‘majorly successful’ 😂
...hopefully not
Ha, I'd hope not!
I'm not actually sure which rapper I'd like to see her collaborate with. I've seen some speculation about it being Eminem... we'll see!
She’s tweeted about Nowhere and hasn’t mentioned it being on the album so I’m sure it’s something else.
Yeah I’ve seen people say it’s Eminem too. Not sure how I feel about that but he’s a huge name and I can imagine the two going together well.
Rita said on Capital there’s a Marshmello collab on the album. Presumably that’s the TBC?
The Marshmallo collab has been teased since before Your Song was released I'm glad to see it's actually real still!
Rita confirmed the Marshmello collab on Kiss FM! It's called "Wake Up with You".
Ooh! Intriguing, I wonder whether it could have post-album release potential as a single. Excited to hear it!
By the way, HMV finally corrected the listing of Phoenix Deluxe to show as a CD.
Marshmello is shit.
I’m so excited for this album. It’s been a long time coming.
Should easily be as big as her debut era as well if not bigger. Not expecting a #1 debut but expecting similar opening sales.

16. Soul Survivor
Lol posted by 3 different people.
So two new tracks ("New Look" and "Keep Talking") and one removed ("Goldfinger"). No Marshmello collab though Interested to hear the Julia collab.
Rita did an interview with Clash magazine and they gave details about some of the new songs:
RIP Goldfinger!
Cashmere upgraded from deluxe track to standard - will be interesting to eventually hear that one and determine whether it was indeed too good to leave off the standard.
Rita previewed a song from the album on her Insta story last night - she's already deleted one of the clips but you can hear them on this Twitter post:
https://twitter.com/RitaOraUSA/status/1056390072621248513
Sounds like a bop!
Which song is that? I don't think it's on the album is it?
Brilliant article, so much I agree with!! (especially the Girls part)
HMV album signings confirmed for Liverpool (23rd) and London (24th) November! Fingers crossed she adds one for Leeds ❤
Going to the London one!!!
Velvet Rope is being released as an instant grat on 16th November apparently!
"Velvet Rope" is out!
It's quite a shock to hear Rita singing a song in this style, it's obviously not single material but I do like the gospel feel to it.
It's cute yet unexpected
"Cashmere" is coming tomorrow! Sounds good from the preview:
https://www.instagram.com/p/BqUsW8fHBfk/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=18q6jaqqputnj
"Cashmere" slaps! It's mid tempo but not in a shocking 'this is Rita?!' way that "Velvet Rope" was. It's made me really excited for the rest of the album though and I can't believe we'll finally have it in less than four days! *_*
oh this is lush! <3
This is shaping up to be a fab album and what she deserves (especially after how weak ORA was)!! I'm ready for her to pull through and deliver a Dua Lipa strength pop perfection album.
OMG my album's been dispatched! 😭 It's happening
"Falling to Pieces" coming tomorrow 😭
Let us breathe Rita
Cashmere sounds AMAZING. WOW
Loving ‘Fallling to Pieces’ as well, those trumpets at the end! *.*
I really wasn’t sure what to expect from the album after loving all the singles but everything so far has been amazing.
I wasn’t too keen on ‘Soul Survivor’ or ‘Summer Love’ live so I’m not sure about those two but apart from that, the album is looking to be great 😍
I liked Velvet Rope but not in love with the other two but I can see FTP growing
Velvet Rope it is good from her, looking forward to the rest of the album.
Only 2 more hours for me to get listen this album. Aus and NZ should be able to listen by now.
Edit 1: I heard the early feedback on the Rudimental collaboration was generic and 'certainly a choice' oops.
Edit 2: Apparently Chris Martin was doing back vocal on Keep Talking?
I was hoping my copy would arrive in the post today but alas not! I've waited 6 years for this, I don't mind waiting another 12 hours to listen to it.
"Falling to Pieces" is another really strong song, I love the trumpets. The intro also momentarily sounds like "Lush Life" though
Surely this album is going to debut at #1 ?
Summer Love is such an album track it hurts
Just been reading through this thread. The amount of times the album has been pushed back and the amount of times it seems like Rita was over only for her to save it again, then rinse and repeat... Rita is like the luckiest popstar ever and it's incredible to think the album is actually in a position to be a success!
Also makes me laugh the amount of people who were pleading for Girls to be released.
Is Summer Love really the one they’re pushing? 😬
It’s so Rudimental by numbers and didn’t like it when she played it at Big Weekend or when I saw it live :’)
Ha Liam, I’ve just had a read back through too, what a journey haha, so glad it’s finally being released. And I still stand by the fact that ‘Girls’ is incredible and should’ve been a huge hit :’(
So Summer Love's studio version is so flat compared to the live version. What a disappointment!
It's a very solid pop album and far better than ORA! Cashmere is such a fave as is New Look and Hell of a Life. Keeping Talking is such an interesting collab!
In terms of future singles, Cashmere is sfg it NEEDS to be next *.*
'Only Want You' is #1 on NMF, and it's a bop!
Can’t believe the day has finally come and the album is actually now out
6 years we’ve waited for this!!
So excited to listen later today my orders coming in the post.
Really liking this album so far, more than Little Mix’s last week (I know they’re wildly different but two hyped up albums coming within two weeks of each other).
Album #1 on iTunes!
Only Want You is the rightful 5th single. Also love New Look, Hell Of A Life, Velvet Rope and Falling To Pieces also favourites of mine.
Hell Of A Life, Cashmere, New Look and Soul Survivor are the ones I clicked with on listen one!
Congratulations Rita! On finally being able to release album 2 and it being better than the first!
There’s a lot of stand outs! ‘Velvet Rope’, ‘only want you’ and all the singles bae ‘girls’
Really need Klaus's old "listening to Anti" meme right about now 😭
I'm so happy that this album is finally here! I'm only up to "Summer Love" but it's already FAR better than 'ORA'. Really really proud of Rita for sticking at it and I'm glad that it looks to be a $ucce$$ for her (apart from in the US, of course).
Tidal doesn't let me play "Lonely Together", is that a problem on other streaming sites because if so she could be losing loads of streams? 😬
The album is cute and if she had not released 5 and a half of the best songs already over the past year, and it was a normal release with one or two pre-release singles, a lot less people would be disappointed. Even though the deluxe is a bit of a waste of time, the standard edition is a really solid pop album.
Are people disappointed though?
Cashmere and Falling to Pieces are two of the strongest on there so I wouldn’t call the deluxe a waste of time.
What a great album, definitely worth the wait. I’ve always thought the album tracks would be very filler compared to the singles but they’re not at all. I even really like Summer Love, which I was expecting to dislike after the live version. Love how chilled it is, perfectly captures that end of summer vibe. I thought it’d be a lot more standard Rudimental but it’s a bit more pared back for them.
And yep, same on Apple Music, Theo! Lonely Together is greyed out.
Ah ok! I haven’t seen anything negative but haven’t been on popjustice and don’t follow many people who’d be tweeting about it
It’s got four star reviews in the Independent and the Times so that’s good to see 🙌🏼
On spotify lonely together isn't blacked out! I def remember listening to that in my listen of Phoenix last nigh
The radiation is increasing
Imagine if she beats Take That
I think "Summer Love" would make a good next single actually! It's not very summery but neither is the weather right now. It's the perfect song to reminisce about the summer we just had.
Looking forward to seeing the figures on Spotify tomorrow!
I actually disagree with Joe that the deluxe is a waste of time, Soul Survivor and Cashmere are two of the best tracks for me.
I will type up a longer review later but this is SUCH a good album, the criticism is unnecessarily harsh and I don't think it warrants it at all. Her voice suits the ballads so much in a way we've not really heard before, and the new bops (First Time High and Only Want You notably) are fantastic.
FIRST TIME HIGH
OMFG 😍😍
Summer Love is amazing!
Genuinely only one dud on this whole album for me! I could do without the chorus-less Velvet Rope but everything else... oh my!
I love this kinda euro dance sound she has going.
This is #1 on iTunes worldwide! I'm actually shook at how strong this is - I've listened about 4 times already, I rarely go back to an album this much so soon after its release.
I'll give highlights later but I really like "New Look" and I completely disagree that the deluxe tracks are pointless. "Falling to Pieces" is stunning and "Soul Survivor" is the perfect closer.
Only Want You, First Time High, Falling to Pieces and Soul Surviour were my faves from the non singles so far.
Soul Surviour sounded familiar and then I realised she had performed it when I seen her on tour, setlist fm also say Summer Love was performed on tour but I remembered that less probably the weakest on the album for me actually but still a good 7/10.
Also You Love Me is a JAM. Really don’t get why it took so long to click with me I really didn’t go back to it all that often but now I’m obsessed with it
Really good album and so worth the wait. Rita’s just got better and better for me. It’s a shame her #1s happened so early as pretty much every Phoenix single (esp Anywhere and Let You Love Me) deserve #1!
Such a step up from her debut album too.
I just hope it doesn’t take her till 2025 to release album 3
Also on a random note has anyone else who’s pretty high profile had a six year gap without releasing any albums yet hasn’t actually had a break? I mean Rita’s never went away really so many singles just not an album until now.
Geez, Q4 this has really been crankin out solid albums. Cashmere/Hell Of A Life/Summer Love/Only Want You/New Look come around as major standouts out of the current album tracks.
I keep forgetting Anywhere didn’t actually get to #1 officially. It did pretty much everywhere on Buzzjack but Camila snubbed Rita of the #1 right? Somehow it didn’t even go top 10 in Australia (nor have any of her other Phoenix singles... somehow) but it is SUCH a banger. Dance-pop done right, managing to be easily accessible without being basic streaming slop like half of Anne-Marie’s album
I really like the album. It reinforces how great ‘anywhrre’ is
I take it from Mint Royales Twitter shes #4 after the first day on sale; no sales figures but Take That who are number one sold more in one day than last weeks #1 album by Michael Buble did in its entire week.
Cliff Richard and Alfie Bowe are also ahead.
Not sure if any of Michael, Mumford and Little Mix are also ahead as they had strong sales last week the tweets only stated that the other new releases those were ahead of her.
Still, I imagine her sales should be pretty good though.
I predicted a #4 debut but with TT, Buble and LM ahead.
I’m thinking that the album might get a new peak position in the new year like the week after Christmas?
A lot of the albums ahead will appeal to an older generation so she’ll benefit from the gift buys affect that tends to happen after Christmas.
Top 5 would be a good result for the album, especially when we consider we thought it would never arrive.
Top 5 and if the album can stay steady for a few weeks she should easily achieve Gold status.
Not completely sure how I feel about this album. It's very meh, basic and nothing surprising.. Nothing really bad to say about it either just extremely MOR with no risks.
'Falling to Pieces' stood out for me of the tracks we hadn't already heard.
This whole album keeps on growing me but I ADORE "First Time High"! The strings on it are gorgeous and have made me super excited to hear her Clean Bandit collaboration next week 😍
Does anyone know what the Target bonus tracks are? The Japanese ones were just remixes that we'd already heard of "Anywhere" and "Let You Love Me" unfortunately.
Yeah 'First Time High' is the one that's really standing out for me atm.
So beautiful.
I actually expected better than this album debuting at around #5, I honestly thought she had a strong chance of debuting with around 50,000 just due to the amount of promotion and success every single bar 'Girls' has had this era and even to an extent 'Girls' got a lot of exposure and sold decently.
Going to listen to the album tonight but have high hopes it will be the pop album of the year as every single has been a 7/10+ so far (blame Your Song)
I was fully expecting a low Top 10 debut due to how competitive the market is now, but I imagine it stands a chance at climbing to a better peak in the New Year, especially if that's when they start pushing the next single.
Yeah. Once I found out Alfie Boe, Roy Orbison and Cliff Rihard were releasing same day, I knew she'd struggle for top 5.
Sales will be strong though regardless of where it'll be, I think.
Think the record company were quite brave to release this close to Christmas. They must have been confident that Let Me Love You would be a hit otherwise I could have seen this album get pretty lost.
Saw this a couple of days ago and still cackling https://twitter.com/AtlanticRcrdsUK/status/1066028419182407680
Yeah I think a top 3 debut would've been pretty huge for her given a late Q4 release! A top 5 position with strong opening sales would be a good result for her!
Apparently, this was #3 in the mids with 9k sold yesterday.
Projected to finish at #10 - a disappointing position but it's selling consistently so far, so I'm hoping it can impress with its longevity and repeak after Christmas!
11.4 K sold for the #5 album so far and she’s currently #6.
I think this is gonna peak in position after Christmas.
I'm guessing that she's a prime example of an artist whose album sales will suffer due to her audience being mainly restricted to streaming her singles rather than sitting down and listening to a full album.
Having so many singles released prior to the album makes it harder to keep the album going long term.
I’m somewhat surprised the album isn’t T5 at least. It features 4 hit singles but maybe that’s the problem when the singles have been staggered over a lengthy period before the album comes out !
I don't understand how this is doing so poorly - Jess Glynne also released multiple singles before her album was out and they all reached the top 10 as well, and she's arguably had less promotion than Rita, yet she still went straight to #1. I've only listened to that once and it's so inferior, I'm really sad that Rita can't even manage the same level of success as her
As has been said though, I'm hopeful that she can re-peak after Christmas or in the New Year but for this to be nowhere near top five officially is #sad
#9 in today's mids and projected to stay there by Friday!
I hope it falls no lower than Number 9.
I’d say Jess caters a lot more to beige ‘real music’ fans, which is why she manages to sell albums so much better.
f***. My. Life.
This ended up at #11

The Wednesday midweek data we had was quite deceiving, it was VERY comfortable in the top 10 so obviously things changed quite drastically since then. Typical Rita, saving this album for 6 years and picking the busiest week of the whole year for new albums
Ouch I can't believe people are trying to say this has done well. Shame as it's a really good pop album
strong sales yet shit position I’m guessing?
I wonder what will happen in its second week now
Stan glasses put down, this has been the busiest week of the entire year for albums.
I think the album will serve longevity. Like, I can see it remaining top 25 for a long time and re-peaking in January.
The sales are decent and there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s just that the position doesn’t scream “good first impression”. it’s too close to call anything at this point but... I’m less optimistic than usual
All you f**king w***rs who didnt want Rita Ora to be #1 suck my d!!!
Jess Glynne didnt f**king deserve it again,, PATHETIC just like all you Rita O haters!!!
I can see Rita dropping out of top 20 next week.
The sales are good, but i would have preferred the album to have entered in the Top 10.
I was hesitant all week believing she was safe when she was dropping through the week.
At some point, i hope she can climb into the Top 10.
If the album can hold steady positions for the month of December it will help build sales.
Realistcially, it wont do better than achieving Gold and possibly Silver if it falls fast.
Not even 20k is definitely bad for a Q4 release by someone so well-known with 4 big singles
This is a sign of a flop but let’s see how it goes next week. The streaming is nice so I’d say she has some chances to stay in the top-20.
The thing is, I think Rita's album would've opened with very similar numbers whether it was Q4 or not. In fact, I'd argue a bit and say that a lot of her target audience are probably asking for it for Christmas, so sales (not just for Rita ofc - most pop acts) are gonna be staggered out a bit more than the OAP faves/artists that are heavily promoting in their release weeks.
Disappointing position, but healthy sales. Would I have liked/expected 20k? Ofc. But I feel we just over estimated Q4 in general. The fact we're a few months into Q4 and have ONLY JUST got our first 100k+ seller in a single week is shocking.
Obviously starting at #11 is disappointing to see, but hopefully Phoenix will prove itself to be a steady seller and fingers crossed achieve a better position in the new year.
Down to 31 in the midweeks is bitterly disappointing and slightly worrying too.
wrong thread
Holding on tight to my copy of the album before her team demands they're all sent back for the real 2nd album that we're never gonna get 👀
I personally thought she'd do at least 30-35k for her opening week (as she feels bigger now than the time she released her first album), but I do think this will do fine in the longrun and that 'Only Want You' will be a sizeable hit to boost it.
Rita will be performing a medley of hits on the Graham Norton Show on New Year's Eve *_* Slay a bit
That will provide good exposure and if the Clean Bandit duet takes off and becomes a hit it will help draw attention to the album.
"Only" down to #26 this week, which is a lot better than the Monday midweeks!
It is a relief to see it recover from Mondays position.
After the Monday update i had feared it would leave the Top 40.
This album was a let down after such a long wait. It just felt lacklustre when I listened to it and the last few singles have not been good. She is some one who seems to cycle through good and shit music.
I liked the singles Anywhere and Your Song so I was looking forward to this but some of the album tracks were a bit dull.
Remains Top 30.
After an initial bad start it has started to steady itself on the chart now.
4 weeks Top 30, when the midweeks for week 2 came through i feared the album would fall very fast.
Any idea on the sales for this week?
Hopefully they’ll remain more steady this week too with Xmas falling mid week I think she should sell around the same or maybe even slightly more.
I think the album will get a good few more weeks top 40 now even if it doesn’t go top ten in the new year.
Good TOTP performance she’s so underrated vocally.
Still glad we actually got a second album, I hold out hope it goes top ten in the new year but less confident than I initially was likewise with LM going to #1 I think I got carried away
#31 in midweeks so far so looking set to stay top 40 again this week anyways and I imagine it’ll probably spend a while in the 41-75 region of the charts and could possibly spend longer in the charts than ORA did.
I feel we’ve probably had most of the promo for the album as most of the singles were released well before the album! If the album came sooner it could’ve been a Dua Lipa style era.
I think we’ll get two more singles max then the tour then either a rest until late 2020 for album 3.
First Time High is my JAM.
The album will easily manage Gold status now as it has reasonably good sales through Christmas.
#31 this week down just one place.
Graham Norton promo this week too although it’s on NYE so I don’t one what effect that’ll have as many will be out.
Her performance on Graham was everything! I loved the staging and the outfit and the segues were very clever. The album was already set to climb this week according to yesterday's midweeks so hopefully that will boost it further.
Its current sales are 60,000 from my estimations and with it still in the charts and more to come, Gold is what i believe safe.
#20 in the mids *.*
Yay at this recovering a bit!
The album remains so, so solid. "Let You Love Me" is possibly my song of last year whilst "New Look" is a huge bop and is great to work out to. "Only Want You" is the perfect breakup bop for me rn and "Soul Survivor" is her most stunning ballad to date.
I'm also rediscovering "For You" as well which really deserved to be bigger than it was, obviously it doesn't help that "Anywhere" was still huge when it was released so it overshadowed it a bit.
I don't believe Rita will ever top Anywhere, the the song is just wonderful.
That said, Let You Love Me has grown on me immensely.
I think the material from Phoenix is much stronger and appealing than that of her debut.
Album up to #18
Nice to see it spend a second week top 20.
Wonderful to see it back in the Top 20.
A new single now to do well may help it have some further weeks Top 20.
Certified Silver! Took a bit longer than I'd hoped but it's a decent start
Glad that it's certified and back in the Top 20! Hopefully it can hang around for a while and make its way to gold. Seems like now would be a good time to start making Only Want You happen.
Album back up to 15 in the midweeks <3 It's verrry stable at the moment
We love a slow burner
It would be wonderful if it could make its way into the top 10.
Summer Love is hitting me! I'm really enjoying that atm!!
#16 this week up two places since last week.
3 weeks top 20 now so recovering well.
Can easily see this spending longer in the charts than ORA now especially since Streaming plays a larger part in album sales now too.
I am hopeful it might eventually make the Top 10 just like Clean Bandit managed to do so this week.
Gold is something i would firmly see happening for this album but it will come in no way near to platinum status.
Number 17 in the midweek information released today.
Rita was on Jimmy Fallon last night and she had an interview and a performance.
Her performance hasn't been uploaded yet (she performed Let Me Love You)
Her US Promo has been phenomenal
The start!!! *.*
That was amazing!! What a STAR!
Ugh she slays EVERY SINGLE PERFORMANCE. One of the best live performers around
"What's a tuba?!" 😂
Wonderful to see the album remaining Top 20 this week at Number 19.
The greatest popstar of our time soundtracking the greatest athlete of our time 😍 Iconic
Lyric video of Soul Survivor!
Tying in with the above campaign I expect, as this commercial is set to air with the SuperBowl tonight:
Rita is performing Soul Survivor at the VH1 Trailblazer Honors on International Women's Day, 8th March
Phoenix on vinyl is out today! I’ve got mine *.*
Still holding up well in the Albums charts - I thought after it’s disappointing debut it would have a few weeks top 40 max but it’s yet to leave after a few months
The album has remained steady outside its week 2 performance and as a result has built of sales and a steady chart run.
Gold certification is a certainty.
Thanks Pippa.
Yeah, I thought it might stablise a bit after Christmas but the Graham Norton medley seems to have done wonders for her.
I suspected the album would hang around despite its perhaps disappointing debut. It has enough hit singles to keep the album afloat streaming wise and I feel it could really start shifting numbers once Only Want You finally gets a push.
The album is on 93k sales now, so should go gold soon.
*.* we love a slow burner!
Should reach gold by the end of the month.
Ugh, I love her so much. She sounded so good with the mini orchestra and choir. I'm really surprised that this isn't taking off at all in the US given it had the Super Bowl commercial, which I imagine is still being shown, and now this
I honestly don't know what else she can do in order to get a US hit, her promotion has been phenomenal.
Rita will never get a US hit (excluding Black Widow, which would’ve smashed regardless of her being on it).
Come to think of it actually, how many British females do well in the US? Adele, Dua Lipa, Ellie Goulding? Even Anne-Marie has 2 hits there.
GOLD certified. She retweeted a tweet today what the BRITs account posted.
And #32 this week in the UK.
It’s never left the top 40 since release which is great news 17 weeks there to date just 5 more to go until it matches ORAs 22 week
run.
So glad I was proven right that after the week two drop she’d stabilise and then climb after Christmas. Just wish it peaked one position
higher #10 would’ve been so much more pleasing than #11
Albums still top 40.
21 weeks there now if it stays there this week then it’ll match what her debut spent in the top 40.
I wonder if the album will be reissued later this year with extra content to boost sales?
That's actually a pretty solid top 40 run! Just a shame about the peak, one week earlier and things would be so different...
The peak doesn't reflect the success of the album.
Thankfully it has sold steadily and a steady chart run to back it up.
150,000 is very manageable for the album.
Lol. That's really impressive but out of context it screams of Dua Lipa: Complete Edition leaping straight to #1 most streamed album by a female artist on release. I'm more surprised that Carry On, Ritual (and to an extent R.I.P.) haven't been added to the digital editions for an even bigger inflated number
A new edition of the album may come due to its steady performance and also that she now has enough to add to the original album to make it worth purchasing again.
Phoenix has now outlasted ORA in the UK Top 100.
(Well it did two weeks ago tbh)
32 weeks in there where as ORA managed 30.
I could also see a re release too. Maybe a Dua like re release where the album ends up having like 24/25 tracks on it
Ritual and Carry On seem obvious ones? Maybe we’ll get a new solo single in the fall and the album re release will be tied with the one year anniversary.
Watch her re peak at #11 again and get a big drop in week two and have a similar chart run year too
The albums at #66 this week.
Rise this coming week hopefully with New Look video?
Full sales of 134,716
They album will easily account to 150,000.
A strong new edition could help Phoenix near 200,000.
I think the metadata for Lonely Together has been messed up on Spotify because the version on Phoenix is now the Alan Walker remix
the album has left UK top 100
It's had an amazing run tbh!!! I'm really pleased with how well it's done in the long run, especially after the disappointing peak!
It managed to outlast her debut album in the top 100
And we’re getting to a stage where there’s many new releases each week now so it’s done well to last as long as it did.
There’s always a chance of it re entering too.
Amazinh chart run and the album exceeded many of our expectations.
Phoenix returns to the Top 100 this week, re-enters the chart at Number 89.
One year old today!!!
An album
One year ago since the infamous "She's definitely going to be top 10" :')
I so remember this chart week last year I thought it was gonna enter at like #4 when it went in at #11 I thought whaaaat! Thankfully it turned around and become quite successful and a long runner despite the low peak and big drop in week two.
I was worried at its Number 11 debut and also its 2nd week fall but it made a good recovery.
It achieved a good chart run but i think Rita should have done a re-issue adding the singles she had features on as the album would have achieved a further boost.
First Time High still sounds so good my favourite non single off this album.
I think I’ll revisit the entire album over the weekend whilst m I’m running. Been a while since I’ve heard this in full don’t think I’ve given it a full spin since it turned one in November.
I seen that and was thinking why would she add R.I.P on as it was on her debut album. Totally forgot about the other track with the same name
I was listening to this album on the way to work this morning and I'd forgotten just how good it is - with any justice, Only Want You would've smashed and we could've had two more hits in New Look and First Time High. One of my favourite pop albums of the past few years
'Only Want You' truly was robbed, my love for that song has grown exponentially since then.
Phoenix looked like Rita was firmly back the map but the next album looks though it's facing an uphill struggle.
