Welcome to a new feature to the UK TV and Soaps forum where we battle two similar shows to find out which is your favourite. In the first battle, we have two current Daytime quiz heavyweights that have dominated the 5-6pm slot every weekday since their debuts in 2009 (and are even know appearing on weekends!). They have brought in a new wave of popularity for daytime quizzes but they still remain the most popular. They have also often battled it out in the ratings, with a close competition often being fought. Pointless is hosted by Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman and, in a reverse to Family Fortunes, contestants have to find the most obscure answers. 100 people are asked about a wide range of subjects and it is up to the contestants to give an answer that the fewest number of people have also said. To win the overall game, they must find an answer that none of the 100 people have given on a certain topic and therefore is pointless. There have been 851 episodes shown since 24th August 2009. The Chase is hosted by Bradley Walsh and contestants work as a team in the hope to beat the Chaser, a general knowledge expert. They must first work individually to take money from the chaser without being caught, the more money they take, the higher their chances are of getting caught and being knocked out of the game. The contestants that make it through this individual round then team up to answer as many questions correctly in the final round in the hope that their total will beat that of the Chaser's. There have been over 1,000 episodes broadcast since 29th June 2009. Let the battle commence! |

Between the two clashing it would be Pointless. A format that works very well.

Both are great in terms of format but The Chase is known a lot more for its funny moments (in fact I'm subscribed to a YouTube channel which uploads every funny moment!) with Pointless I'm not much of a fan of Alexander and his repeating of his phrases kind of get annoying, Richard is funny sometimes though

Always The Chase! Great concept and Bradley Walsh is a fantastic host, the banter with the chasers is always great I think. Pointless also has a great format but I can't stand Alexander Armstrong

Pointless easily! Bradley Walsh is s*** and I hate how smug the chasers are (much like the Eggheads). The Chase is just a bog standard quiz, Pointless has the much more interesting format.
Would love to team up with someone and go on Pointless. |

Tough one. The Chase has the best segment (that being the final chase) but overall Pointless is a better watch. I'd be a million times better at Pointless too.

The chasers are a bit over the top, but then I guess that's what they've been told to do. The quality of the questions on Pointless is much better and Alexander Armstrong is a much better host than Bradley Walsh.
Mind you, it does frustrate me when practically every contestant they've ever had on Pointless says "literature isn't my strongest suit" when anything to do with books comes up. Then they laugh when they score 100. |

The Chase is more tense, especially when they're about to be caught and the quickfire round (and the innuendo questions are pretty iconic), but I prefer Pointless is a more interesting format, plus I find the topics a lot more interesting and it allows you to test your knowledge in a wider way than just 'oh I know the answer to that' (and be geeky with specialist knowledge, I have been with the ones about charts *.*).

Definitely Pointless. I think its a better format for if you want to play at home, because in shows like The Chase they often give away the answer before you've had a chance to think.

I find Pointless a lot more interesting.
Having said that, I've actually met chaser Mark Labbett and technically worked with him. He was a supply teacher in one of the schools in Cardiff that I trained in. |

I adore both formats of The Chase and Pointless! But I think I'm a little more dedicated to The Chase as I love how thrilling the final chase is, plus Bradley Walsh and the chasers are better mainstays than Alexander and Richard.

I love both but as I've appeared on The Chase ... it has to be The Chase.
I have to say though - I think they're getting pretty desperate for questions on Pointless. |

I vote for Pointless ! I prefer Richard to Alistair though.
I like the format of The Chase, but can't sit through Bradley Walsh for long. A contestant gives an answer (which will turn out to be correct) and he makes a face and goes ''oooh are you sure about that , that can't be right surely'' to make them (or the audience) doubt themselves. And then it's the giggling fits. |

AS IF POINTLESS IS WINNING !!!!!
I like it as a concept but it's so dull to watch, it takes so long I end up getting bored and googling answers lmao. The Chase is so tense and I love playing along shouting out the answers and bragging that I would have won money even though I'm just sat at home with no pressure so ofc would find it easier, I'd clam up and get 0 on the actual show I still really want to go on it though. |
