It's Perfectly True - after 3 weeks at 2 Lucia & The Best Boys are back on top for a second week, I just love that guitar work and the song, holding off the fab Tape Machines off the top spot, the highest of 3 Golden songs. Kylie is up to 3 with the fab Last Chance (let's hope it's the next single) as Supernova makes it 6 top 10's off Disco, and replaces Celebrate You in the top layer. Highest new entry is a track I'd never heard until a week ago - yet it's a track I knew OF 48 years ago. I'd seen it listed in music magazines and was intrigued by the title - but in those days if radio didn't play it you never got to hear it, so despite being a European hit, I had to wait till it popped up on Twitter last week, several celebrities I follow all going apeshit over it.

So, I checked out Prisencolinensinaincuisol and it's a record ahead of it's time - rapping, and in made-up sounds designed to sound American to Italian ears, as Adriano Celentano was making a statement that American songs were so popular he could have a hit with something that sounded American but wasn't even English-language. It worked! His wife did the female vocal, though Rafaella Carra helped promote it, her of Do It Do It Again fame from 1978. She's in the video. The video is brilliant.

Two more oldies enter, Texas' career-best track, Inner Smile from 2000, pops back, written by New Radicals Gregg Alexander who was on a songwriting run at the time, having given up being a pop star; and also George Michael's heartfelt Praying For Time from 1990. Both were selling itunes, as was Adriano Celentano. A second new Christmas song debuts, Beverley Knight having a good try at a great festive future fave - that's hard to carry off, the regulars always hog the airplay, but at least radio 2 is helping a bit.

The Vamps get a 2nd of 2020, Billie Eilish a 3rd, and I manage to cut the chart down to 90. Still aiming for 75, hopefully reduced releases over Xmas and a Christmas song exodus in the New Year will do the trick!
