That top 3 is my top 3 GA songs Long Hot Summer is comfortably last but it's aged very well I think, quite underrated still.

It's not my least favourite by far, but I don't think Long Hot Summer really belongs here - at the time it was meant to be a one-off rather than a teaser from the next album (much like Jump, which was later included on What Will The Neighbours Say?).
The proper lead single from Chemistry, Biology would have topped my list.

I think regardless of whether Long Hot Summer was intended to be the lead single or not, it actually was the lead single in the end so it certainly belongs here! Jump on the other hand was included on Sound of the Underground's re-issue and therefore the fourth single from that album, it's a totally different case.

Controversial maybe but...

I had 'Long Hot Summer' on repeat during the Summer and it it still holds its position well, plus I've always found it never deserved to be considered one of their weaker songs. Really feel-good and I think it's a lot more remembered than people give it credit for.

'Sound of the Underground' is a classic and I'll always treasure it, but I just feel they've had bigger songs since which is surely just credit to how much they've developed?

'Something New' was certainly a killer comeback and is guaranteed to put me in the party spirit; the only fault is that 2002-2009 is just a magical period that brings such untouchable feelings and memories. I certainly have strong memories of 'Something New' but I just feel their comeback has been somewhat tarnished - I wanted Girls Aloud to be back on top like they used to, but obviously there's rarely any coming back from a hiatus.

'The Show' is ridiculously overrated on here. I certainly like it but it's easily near-bottom of their singles discography.

Only by the fans it seems. To me it sounds like a song that's desperately trying to be a GA song with the unusual structure and all, but it ultimately fails to be interesting because they had already done it before and much better. At the same time the production is just a tad too ''generic'' making it very unlike GA. Unfortunately I think all the new songs on 'Ten' suffered from this.

They made some wonderful choices for lead singles, that said, they made terrible ones to, those been Long Hot Summer and Sexy! No No No...

Oh yeah I sort of meant their biggest hit that wasn't a reality TV show coronation single, but I guess SOTU has transcended that tag anyway with its classic status.

Sales aside, The Promise sort of felt bigger to me than anything else they'd done as it crashed in at #1 with a large sale for the time, six years deep into their career, got them probably more airplay than they'd ever had before and took their career up to another gear. They felt completely ubiquitous and all-conquering at the time.

That top 3 is absolutely incredible. GA were very on point with their lead singles, besides 'Long Hot Summer' which is one of their weakest and should have really been 'Biology'. I'm so glad that 'Sexy! No No No...' got its moment in the sun as the lead (it's my favourite single of theirs) as it was far more risky than 'Call The Shots'; they were smart to save that one for the second single as the longevity for it was superb.
