I won't listen this week as it'll likely just be a skim of the chart coupled with some big weekend shit (which never translates well to radio anyway), but I'll check back at the end.

Retro faves while I'm here:

2014 (totally average top 10 and gah, the start of Stay With Me's reign of terror)

2- WAVES- Mr Probz (58,495)
7- SUMMER- Calvin Harris (32,679)
8- ONLY LOVE CAN HURT LIKE THIS- Paloma Faith (28,205)
9- HIDEAWAY- Kiesza (25,370)
10- LOVE NEVER FELT SO GOOD- Michael Jackson (25,109)

2010 (I remember this being the Big Weekend week too, why do they always pick weekends where quite a bit's happening in the charts? :'()

5- STEREO LOVE- Edward Maya Ft Vika Jigulina (33,307)
8- SHE SAID- Plan B (28,500)*
9- SHE’S ALWAYS A WOMAN- Fyfe Dangerfield (25,600)*
10- LEEDS LEEDS LEEDS (MARCHING ON TOGETHER)- Leeds Utd Team & Supporters (21,102) (I remember this shite beat Muse to the top 10, one of the most frustrating chart events for me EVER pirate.gif)

2005 (good top 10 overall!)

1- LYLA- Oasis (75,124) (they'd have a much better one later in the year, but this was decent-ish, if no classic)
2- LONELY- Akon (42,409)
3- DON’T PHUNK WITH MY HEART- Black Eyed Peas (37,867)
4- FEEL GOOD INC- Gorilaz (27,749)
5- (IS THIS THE WAY TO) AMARILLO?- Tony Christie/ Peter Kay (21,549)
7- HATE IT OR LOVE IT- The Game Ft 50 Cent (14.900)*
8- SIGNS- Snoop Dogg/ J Timberlake/ C Wilson (14,300)*
9- OWNER OF A LONELY HEART- Max Graham Vs Yes (14,078)
10- EVERYDAY I LOVE YOU LESS AND LESS- Kaiser Chiefs (12,940)

2000

2- DON’T CALL ME BABY- Madison Avenue (54,000)
3- OOPS!...I DID IT AGAIN- Britney Spears (51,000)*
4- SEX BOMB- Tom Jones & Mousse T (45,000)*
6- THE BAD TOUCH- Bloodhound Gang (25,000)*

1995

3- SCATMAN- Scatman John (64,000) ( wub.gif classic)
4- DREAMER- Livin Joy (61,000)*

I'm sure he will do - he was on course for 11.4k on the Friday Update (which was before he reached the Top 15 on iTunes) which would have been enough last week.

oh so there is a condensed show then? I thought there wasn't gonna be one at all. Hopefully Jessie J misses the top 40 anyway, her song is quite dull. Not really huge on any of the new entries really, expecting Taylor to be very high tonight though (possibly #1 on sales too)

Afternoon all! Out tonight so I'll probably miss this, but very much rooting for Taylor/Kendrick.

Retro faves:

2014
2- WAVES- Mr Probz (58,495)
4- I WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN- Rita Ora (53,093)
5- EXTRAORDINARY- Clean Bandit Ft Sharna Bass (40,196)
7- SUMMER- Calvin Harris (32,679)
8- ONLY LOVE CAN HURT LIKE THIS- Paloma Faith (28,205)
9- HIDEAWAY- Kiesza (25,370)

A year since that dreary blandfest infected the chart. A much better new entry in the form of 'Extraordinary' however, if rather unmemorable.

2010
3- GOOD TIMES- Roll Deep (37,145) wub.gif
5- STEREO LOVE- Edward Maya Ft Vika Jigulina (33,307) heart.gif
6- O.M.G- Usher Ft Will.i.am (32,600)*
7- CANDY- Aggro Santos Ft Kimberly Wyatt (29,400)* heart.gif
8- SHE SAID- Plan B (28,500)*
9- SHE’S ALWAYS A WOMAN- Fyfe Dangerfield (25,600)*

Wasn't ever really huge on 'Nothin' On You'. I remember them announcing it on the big top 40 show as having an extra week at number one when it was 'Dirtee Disco' on radio 1, so that's when I discovered that BigTop40 was unofficial. laugh.gif

2005
1- LYLA- Oasis (75,124) wub.gif
2- LONELY- Akon (42,409)
3- DON’T PHUNK WITH MY HEART- Black Eyed Peas (37,867) wub.gif
4- FEEL GOOD INC- Gorilaz (27,749) wub.gif
8- SIGNS- Snoop Dogg/ J Timberlake/ C Wilson (14,300)*
9- OWNER OF A LONELY HEART- Max Graham Vs Yes (14,078) heart.gif
10- EVERYDAY I LOVE YOU LESS AND LESS- Kaiser Chiefs (12,940) wub.gif

Oh at LAST, this is the kind of stuff I have fond memories of 2005 with. 'Lyla' is one of many excellent Oasis singles, quite the comeback for them with this and 'The Importance of Being Idle' going to number one! 'Don't Phunk With My Heart' is my favourite BEP song, they were just so effortlessly cool. Cannot believe that is 10 years old! 'Feel Good Inc' is just incredible, enough said. I actually didn't discover 'Owner of a Lonely Heart' until radio 1's one hit wonder show but it's lovely and understated, the vid is rather amusing. FINALLY 'Everyday I Love You Less and Less' wub.gif My favourite KC song, the production is fab and I love how chaotic the entire effort is. Yesssss!

2000
1- DAY AND NIGHT- Billie (104,000)
2- DON’T CALL ME BABY- Madison Avenue (54,000)
3- OOPS!...I DID IT AGAIN- Britney Spears (51,000)*
4- SEX BOMB- Tom Jones & Mousse T (45,000)*
5- MASTERBLASTER 2000- DJ Luck & Mc Neat (34,000)* heart.gif
8- BOUND 4 DA RELOAD (CASUALTY)- Oxide & Neutrino (21,000)*
9- LUVSTRUCK- Southside Spinners (20,000)*

Ooh yay, 'Day and Night' is one of two Billie songs I actually like so I don't mind it being number one at all, rather 'edgy' for her as opposed to some of her previous stuff. 'Masterblaster 2000' is rather brill as well, although I bet hugely forgotten. Probably helps that I love the original so much. I wonder what DJ Luck & Mc Neat are up to these days.

1995
3- SCATMAN- Scatman John (64,000)
4- DREAMER- Livin Joy (61,000)*

Hideous number one, and rather awful top 10 overall, really. These two classics save it a bit.
