I can’t see an individual thread for Rihanna’s debut album so I made one here.

A place do discuss thoughts / sales / opinions etc on Rihanna’s debut album Music Of The Sun which was released in 2005.

What are your thoughts on the album now?

So I gave this a full listen for the first time ever yesterday and it's...not that bad? laugh.gif Definitely not on the level of her other albums at all but there's some nice reggae bops that are usable. I actually don't get why 'If It's Lovin' That You Want' was released as single 2, 'That La, La, La' and another one I can't remember sounded much more single-like. There were no awful songs (I mean I can't think of any Rih songs I absolutely despise although Unfaithful is probably down there x) and everything was pretty pleasant. I can see myself going back to about half of it. A Girl Like Me to listen to next *.*

(can I still be a stan and not know her first two albums for years though)

Was ‘Let Me’ a radio single on,ynanywhere? I seem to remember it was, though maybe I just imagined it.

Let Me was used as the b-side in Australia for SOS, I guess it's possible they did that because radio had picked it up.

That La La La should've been the third single! I Like the title track too but otherwise never return to this album, even for the singles.

Would it be worth considering have a listenthrough of this like the Ari and Spice Girls forums have been doing? There's lots of Rihanna fans on here and I'd imagine most haven't heard the album or don't know it particularly well (I stan this bitch and I only listened to it a week ago lol) Would anyone be up for it?

I've been advocating that 'MOTS' is a much better album than AGLM for YEARS now. Obviously there will be people who genuinely prefer AGLM but I'm convinced about 90-95% of the people who say AGLM is better haven't listened to either album in detail.

There are some bops on this album aside from the singles: 'Let Me', 'Rush', 'Music of the Sun' and to a lesser extent 'Here I Go Again' slap. The slower songs 'Willing to Wait' and 'The Last Time' are also jams to be honest.

I think this is kinda not dated despite being 15 years old but the reggae like feel to it feels sort of natural and even though there’s nothing amazing on it, it is kinda a cute listen.

I’d say this is her studio album with the least amount of high highs on it but it also doesn’t have many terrible tracks.

It’s Just “nice”
