wonder if one of the 50s/60s soundtrack albums will top this or if the hundreds of weeks they spent in the top 10 (or whatever number the chart was limited to) aren't enough to beat the hundreds and hundreds of weeks other albums spent in the top 100.

By number of weeks alone Abba's Greatest Hits should top the list but Queen's and Bob Marley's aren't far behind on weeks and they may have spent more time in the top end of the chart. Will be interesting to see which of those three end up being the highest.

The top 10 albums changed around quite a lot over the last 12 months so their may be a few surprises

I think it's a classic cos many album tracks have been covered by others, ie You've got a Friend

I get what people are saying but back then when it was released there was only 1 hit to promote the album, all the cover versions I assume came out years after.

no no
well first, there was the double A side with Is it too late and I Feel the Earth move, that was a massive #1 in the US
then some of the songs she recorded, she had penned them and given them to other people and had already been massive,
that includes Will You Still Love me Tomorrow for the Ronettes I think and Natural Woman for Aretha Franklin,
she had written or cowritten these tracks years ago that were super big, and now she recorded them herself for the first time

then the album also has the now-classic You've got a Friend, that would be covered later

also bare in mind that the album was up for many grammys and won album of the year, so it got the critics approval too, which always helps sales

It certainly seems like an album that has a legacy with it
