Posted by: TheJüpreme 31st August 2019, 08:12 AM

I would expect nearly all of 5H songs to fall out before we hit the meat of LM

Touch to win the whole thing pls.

26-33:

26. Fifth Harmony - Miss Movin' On 6.38
27. Little Mix - Little Me 6.25
28. Little Mix - Bounce Back 6.10
29. Fifth Harmony - Down 5.54
30. Fifth Harmony - I'm In Love With A Monster 4.97
---
31. Little Mix - Cannonball 4.83
32. Little Mix - Word Up! 4.27
33. Fifth Harmony - Por Favor 4.13

~~~
In the first batch of results, we lose 4 tracks by each artist! For the most part they're not really too surprising, especially the bottom 3. Cannonball is cute, but it was used and served it's purpose as a coronation single & Word Up! is about as fun as you would expect to come from a tongue in cheek charity single. Por Favor really was a huge misfire. So bland. It's disheartening to see that that was their last single as a group </3
I'm In Love With A Monster misses out on the bottom 3, just. It's alright, serves it's purpose as a soundtrack single and that's it. The biggest surprise for me is seeing Down so low. I know it wasn't a massive hit and I know there was some sort of lukewarm reaction to it, but I thought it'd get closer to the top 20 tbh. Gutted tbh, coz although it's a watered down Work From Home, it still bops! Little Mix's buzz single ( biggrin.gif ) Bounce Back fails to ignite the rate, to no ones surprise. A bop, but it's not a fave. Little Me becomes the 4th Little Mix track to fall out. I didn't think/imagine it'd do THIS poorly, but I won't say it's not deserved. It's one I rarely ever go back to. Miss Movin On is RIDICULOUSLY under appreciated. SUCH a good, anthemic, pure pop song. I really wish people gave it more love </3
Posted by: Jordan Lee 3rd September 2019, 08:30 PM
Miss Movin On is the best to go so far
Posted by: Jonjo 5th September 2019, 06:21 AM
21-25:
21. Little Mix - Think About Us 7.13
22. Little Mix - How Ya Doin'? 6.7
23. Fifth Harmony - BO$$ 6.6
24. Little Mix - Change Your Life 6.52
25. Little Mix - Woman Like Me 6.5
~~~

Before we reach the top 20 we lose 4 Little Mix singles and just the sole Fifth Harmony one. The huge marmite hit, Woman Like Me kicks this section off at #25. A huge hit for the girls but a very divisive one! Seems to get a lot of flack, but also seems to have quite a fair amount of love. Change Your Life ends up falling out at #24. This song never seems to do that well in these rates and things, it's a shame coz it's actually pretty cute. BO$$ is a feisty, uptempo and fierce pop song by 5H. It was the first of their singles to chart on a WW scale. It was a very short lived hit, but it was very welcomed. I'm kinda bored of it by the time the song's finished nowadays, but I do lose my shit to it sometimes! How Ya Doin'? finishes in 22nd place. A song I've only recently come fully around to. I actually think, ironically, this 90's throwback track, has aged pretty well and bops pretty majorly! Up next is the "was it a hit, wasn't it a hit?" Think About Us. As generic as it is, this really pops off! Every performance of it has been brilliant and seems to be improved each time. I wish it was a bigger hit for them, but it was a cute minor hit for them!

Posted by: Jade 5th September 2019, 07:40 AM

'Think About Us' higher than 'Woman Like Me'? No me gusta!

Posted by: Jonjo 6th September 2019, 07:10 PM

16-20:

16. Little Mix - Wings 7.41
17. Fifth Harmony - All In My Head (Flex) 7.37
18. Fifth Harmony - He Like That 7.30
19. Little Mix - Only You 7.19
20. Little Mix - Hair 7.18

~~~
Into the top 20 and we start things off with Hair one of the girls earliest "remix" versions with a rapper, following Missy on 'How Ya Doin'?', this time they managed to get the help from legendary reggae rapper, Sean Paul to give us an infectious, cheeky and catchy pop song. The video is SO much fun too! The underrated Only You manages to out do my expectations and finish inside the top 20 at #19! I was not expecting to see that above in the top 20 tbh! I assumed about 22-25. Very pleased though. It's a banger. Up next at #18 is my personal favourite 5H song He Like That. I honestly believe they'd have been in a far stronger position had they launched their last era with this instead of 'Down'! It's exactly what I want from them and the James Corden performance was the first time I believed in them as performers! I'm disappointed and upset that it missed the top 10, let alone top 15! At #17 is the follow up to their biggest hit (Work From Home ofc), All In My Head (Flex). It was a decent sized hit for them and is very catchy. I love the reggaeton vibe. And finally for this section we have Little Mix's very first single (after their coronation single) Wings. One of their biggest hits and a song that seems to be remembered pretty fondly amongst fans, but also seems to get a bit of flack for sounding a little dated nowadays. It has aged pretty poorly imo, but it still bops and it's a song that clearly means a LOT to the girls.
'Woman Like Me' being that low is criminal. I don't think I'll ever understand the relative disdain towards it versus their other leads.
I agree. I also expected that and OY to switch places just about! But I'm not mad about OY in all honesty. I love it!
It should’ve come dead last tbh.
Hands down the worst single they’ve ever ever done just dreadful and I’m a huge fan of the girls.
I swear if that awful work from home comes near the top...
Posted by: Jonjo 9th September 2019, 05:25 PM
11-15:
11. Little Mix - No More Sad Songs 8.12
12. Little Mix - DNA 8.08
13. Little Mix - Shout Out To My Ex 7.97
14. Fifth Harmony - Worth It 7.68
15. Little Mix - Secret Love Song 7.52
~~~

At #15 we have Secret Love Song which, ngl, I expected to see higher. Such a beautiful song and one of the best ballads of this Decade, let alone a girl group ballad. One that the girls & their LGBTQ+ fanbase hold very close to their hearts. The video ended up disappointing people, due to the nature of the song lending itself so well to an LGBTQ+ story, but ended up with the girls walking around LDN and Jason dancing in his apartment... Such a mis-match (even if the cinematography and girls looked stunning). If you ever experience them live, Jade will 100% give a little speech beforehand and it's always so genuine and sincere from her. A babe. Next at #14 is Worth It by Fifth Harmony. A song which, although I bop to, gets irritating pretty quickly. But it's cute and was their first UK hit! Shout Out To My Ex falls out next at #13, which may surprise casual members, but for some reason, SOTME gets a pretty extreme opinion from most people (one way or the other laugh.gif). It's a banger though! At #12 we see their 3rd single DNA fall out. It's becoming pretty underrated on here! A song that always deserves better in these types of things and just missing out on a top 10 placing is, for me, their best song. No More Sad Songs was always a huge highlight from their Glory Days album. The MGK remix is surprisingly strong too! I don't know what it is specifically that provokes such a reaction from me, but whenever it comes on, I just can't help but smile and bop my heart away! Such a good song that doesn't deserve to be one of their lowest peaking singles </3

The top 10:

Black Magic
Love Me Like You
Move
Power
Reggaeton Lento
Salute
Sledgehammer
That's My Girl
Touch
Work From Home

Any predictions?
Any surprises?

Surprised to see 'Sledgehammer' in the top 10 over 'Worth It'! ohmy.gif

Posted by: Jonjo 9th September 2019, 05:41 PM

I'm surprised by both That's My Girl and Sledgehammer making it over that tbh. I'm also quite surprised Reggaeton Lento is top 10 too!

Starting off the top 10 is the last single to be taken from Little Mix's 'Glory Days' era. Reggaetón Lento was a huge smash for Latin boyband CNCO, then Little Mix were asked to remix it and use it as the lead single from the re-release of the 'Glory Days' album. It smashed the charts and has become one of the girls biggest hits. The video is infuriating though coz the potential for an all out, fully choreographed kinda dance battle between these two groups was RIGHT THERE. But they wasted it by having it set in a club where they're trying to seduce each other from the opposite sides of the room! Ugh. But meh, this song is a bop!

I mean, 'Only You' beating it is the real shock to me. I thought that was wayyy more reviled.

RL making the top 10 is iconic. It's crazy how overlooked it is given how huge it was at the time. Its longevity was one of the best of any LM singles was it not? 'Bounce Back' truly cannot relate.

At #9 and tying with #8 & Reggaetón Lento, is Fifth Harmony's 1st of 3 entries into the top 10, Sledgehammer. This was the B-Side to 'Worth It' over here in the UK iirc. It seems incredibly popular for a song that was never fully pushed as a single here. It's a great pop song and very different to 'Worth It', which had a slightly more Urban-Pop vibe in contrast to this more bubblegum poppy bop. I imagine it would've been a safe top 40 hit had it been pushed and actually promoted as a single. It's very cute and absolutely deserved to be top 3 in Fifth Harmony's ranks!

Posted by: Jade 15th September 2019, 12:05 AM

Jumping on 'Reggaetón Lento' was such a good move for the girls *.* one of my favourite songs to come out of the 2017 Latin craze over here for sure. I remember the song only being shown on the screen when I saw them on the 'Glory Days' tour. Would've loved to have seen them attempt their parts live!

Pleasantly surprised by how well 'Sledgehammer' has done as aforementioned! One of their better moments, it's punchy.

Posted by: TheJüpreme 15th September 2019, 11:41 AM

Shocked that 5th Harmony got three into the top ten, and that its NOT including Worth It!

Revisiting Sledgehammer,its got a great hook but the rest of it has not aged so well unfortunately!

Posted by: George.keh 15th September 2019, 12:09 PM

Very pleased to see Sledgehammer this high! Far better than some of their more popular efforts. (Worth It being possibly their worst single ever)

The almighty, all conquering, all empowering ANTHEM Salute by Little Mix, ends in 8th position in this rate. 6 years later and it's still one of their fiercest and sassiest moments. This song serves as THE perfect tour opener and I feel like it is the song that best represents the album/era. The video is also one of their best videos. The fierce choreography, mixed with sharp and piercing visuals as well as incredible camerawork and direction really sells the song for the dark and gritty anthem it is! The marching percussion kinda sound really suited the girls and seeing this become the smash it was right after the under performance and floppage of 'Word Up!' was a HUGE relief. It went to #6 in the UK and is one of their signature hits!

Fifth Harmony's own female empowering song is next. That's My Girl finishes in 7th position and out performs, what I thought was the more popular of the 2, 'Salute'! Personally I find the song a little bit of a racket. It has a melody but it's quite irritating at times for me. But it's empowering and I kind of see why it's as popular as it is, even if I am surprised it's higher than their own, 'Worth It', as well as the aforementioned 'Salute'. A good song, but one I tire of pretty quickly.

Posted by: Jade 18th September 2019, 11:32 PM

'Salute' is still such a highlight of their discography wub.gif what a dynamic and empowering song. Weird to see 'That's My Girl' higher than it!

Falling short of the top 5 is one of Little Mix's most universally adored singles... or so I thought (ALL those 11's & 10's and couldn't get top 5... WTF!) Move remains one of the boldest singles choices for a mainstream, pop group in recent times. The beat is infectious and will definitely worm it's way into your affections. The slick production and vocals, the song with about 2000 hooks and the choreo and video are up there with their best. It's one I always forget just how much I love, until I listen to it! I probably should've given it a 10 in all honesty as it's pretty much perfect in actuality.

Alphabetical:

Black Magic
Love Me Like You
Power

'Move' missing the top 5? That's unacceptable tbh sad.gif still one of their most unique and fresh songs <3

'Touch' would definitely be my preferred winner from all that's left, even if obvious.

Love Me Like You making top 5!!!

Power and Love Me Like You are far from LMs best in my opinion.

Move though wub.gif such a unique fresh sounding track. I like the structure of it and that it sounds both new yet quite retro too.

Not one I was sold on at first if I’m honest but over time it’s held up very well.

Touch to win wub.gif

I adore both LMLY & Power, but I am low-key surprised that, although they always do well in the LM rates, a rate with 5H songs mixed in I wasn't sure they'd do as well. But I'm happy to be proven wrong. I'd have guessed that both Salute & Worth It would have been in the top 5 instead had I made a prediction beforehand!

Into the top 5 we go and kick starting it is the female empowering anthem Power which followed No More Sad Songs to become the 4th single from the Glory Days era. Ever since first listen of the album, fans were crying out for this to be a single. It was so different for them and from the first note right through to the end, it gives you a massive punch in the face and you feel good for it! Hooks and melodies aplenty, it went on to be one of their biggest hits, thanks to a featured verse by Stormzy who adds an empowering verse! The video is one of the girls very best, for sure. Just an all round ANTHEM.

At number 4 is Love Me Like You by Little Mix. It must be some unwritten rule, that every British girl band must release a 60's inspired, doo-wop, pop BOP. This was the 2nd single to Little Mix's 'Get Weird' era and peaked at #11. I remember it being such a disappointment chart-success wise. But in hindsight, except for 'Touch' they've had the absolute WORST luck with 2nd singles. But, lucky for them, this seemed to have longevity and managed to help GW get a huge opening. The video, again, is stellar. One of their very best in my opinion. This is such a banger. One of my fave girl group 60's inspired pop bops!

The career saving, pure pop ANTHEM Black Magic by Little Mix is up next at #3. This really was such a pivotal point in their career at the time. After the successful, but ultimately disappointing Salute era, it was touch and go for the girls. Especially as they were reality TV show winners and we know that success beyond a 2nd album is v rare for the winners. But they knocked it out of the park and THEN some. 'Black Magic' is the song that single handedly turned it all around for them. They went from stars to superstars with this release they lost the number 1 to Elvis' first Philharmonic album, but were comfortably ahead of their neaxt rival Ellie as they beat her with a 21k sales gap. This song has also been responsible for MANY iconic performances, like the BRITS in 2016 where they ABSOLUTELY STOLE THE DAMN SHOW. WHAT A PERFORMANCE. This song is just utter pop perfection and such a joy! The video is also, imo, their best! Fantastic!

In at #2 is Fifth Harmony's SMASH hit Work From Home. This was an instant smash WW and it's really not hard to see why. The repetitive "work work work work" hook is INFECTIOUS and really worms it's way into your affections. The production is stellar too and then we have the video... imagine K***e H*****s & P***s M****n if LM released that!? Amazing. I believe this is the biggest girl group song of the Decade, right? In fact isn't it one of the biggest of the 21st Century? An amazing feat for them! BANGER.

So, there we have it. The winner of the Little Mix vs Fifth Harmony rate is Touch by Little Mix! An unsurprising but thoroughly deserving winner. Touch became an instant girl group classic the moment fans had heard it when the Glory Days album had been released. The girls said numerous times that this was the song they were most looking forward to the fans hearing and DID THEY ABSOLUTELY DELIVER. It's just nice to finally have a song that brought in a new legion of fans for the girls. I feel like this was the first "cool" song for Little Mix. Everyone would lose their shit the moment Leigh's verse started in the clubs. It's all just several hooks rolled into one. It's gone on to become one of the girls signature hits and the video seemed to have been met with mixed reactions from everyone, but I am firmly in a "love it in a charismatic way"! It's so good! Jade absolutely steals the song for me which is always a plus! <3
