Although I do not agree with the nature that this has been released, I bit the bullet and bought it. Mulan has been my favourite Disney film for as long as I can remember and I have been waiting so long to see it.

I really enjoyed it! I do think that you miss the music and you miss Mushu. The visuals were stunning and Liu Yifei was a convincible Mulan. I liked the addition of Xian Lang.

i thought the film really lost its heart + took itself a little too seriously.

the tone of the film had the majority of the humour ripped out due to her not having a sidekick + it felt like it was 80 minutes of pure fight. there was no real discovery of who she was or what she was capable of. she was a warrior from the start + it felt really long because of it.

i liked the idea of adding xian lang - it gave the story a little depth + some mystery but ultimately it missed the mark with it losing the incredible music + a real major character. they didn’t even give her a proxy, it was just a lot of silent thought.

in the end, it was enjoyable enough to watch but i don’t think i’d watch it again (+ i’m glad i didn’t pay for it oops)
