Eek, still no sign of Iggy? YAY at Tom though
Surprised Cheryl's out already! / Hurrah for Tom Odell! / No Taylor yet is a shame, but they'll obviously add it soon.
- REALLY surprised they snubbed Iggy's new single. That's very odd to me.
My former Unknown Pleasures top 5 smash 'Out Of The Blue' on the playlist *.*! Fabulous song, I recommend to people who like CHVRCHES (and aren't biased against male vocals). Top 100 hit plz.
Dulldulldull otherwise. Yay for Tom Odell I guess.
Great to see early adds for Pro Green and Sam Smith and also good to see Kiesza and The Script A-listed.
Not at all surprised Cheryl's off already. Didn't think they would support Ella Henderson but I guess they might add it next week. Thought Jessie J would be on this week though, would they snub her?
wish chvrches were pushing dead air instead, its much much better than get away.. but the latter is still nice anyway so thats cool
that labrinth track is abysmal, was kinda hoping they wouldn't support it but i can see it being quite big tbh
yay at sam smith, hope this is another top 10 for him soon
and yay for oliver heldens too, would like this to do well
Mary still a-list why isn't she climbing already
Bring Me The Horizon, CHVRCHES, Oliver Heldens Ft K.Stewart, Prides, Professor Green, Sam Smith, Tom Odell for me this week
I really don't get why Radio 1 didn't get more behind "I don't care", especially when it's doing so well on sales and on streaming...
OMG, I totally felt in love with Oliver Heldens' Koala some months ago...and now it's here! What a surprise!
Same feelings about Pro Green\Probz. Sounds absolutely smashing.
LOL 4 Pharrell & Cheryl. Shame for Becky's "losing".
And, tbh, I can't remember the new Smith song.
Pity theyve added Chvrches instead of Chemical Bros/Miguel from the Hunger Games soundtrack!
EDIT Just realised I was getting my soundtracks mixed up Chem Bros was from Hunger Games & Chvrches was from radio 1 does Drive!
Still the point remains
I'm hoping Kiesza's moving up to the A-list can help encourage more pre-orders, such a brilliant track.
(I'm clutching at straws here though, the prospects are looking pretty grim for that right now)
I'm surprised Calvin's not been A Listed yet. Maybe they will next week.
'Koala'
Still no Tulisa
I have this feeling that they're slowly discontinuing their support of Cheryl because she's getting 'too old for them'. Crazy Stupid Love didn't do too great on R1 either :/
Out of The Blue added How I would love for that to smash, still a great song even if it's a year and a half since I first heard it in UP. Hooray for new CHVRCHES too (which I really need to listen to).
Or the fact it gets played on all the commercial stations so they don't need to support it as much? So they give it a few weeks on the playlist then give someone else a shot.
Good additions for Sam Smith and Pro Green. Not heard Labrinth's new track yet, but heard its a ballad so probably not for me!
Also, Pull Up by Sticky and General Levy is a tune Glad to see its getting support.
I don't think it's that much of a problem whether Cheryl makes the A-list or the B-list. She's still on the list so still relevant and Radio 1 still like her music/think she appeals to their audience. As Joe said, they probably just don't like the song as much. 'I Don't Care' and 'Crazy Stupid Love' are pretty different to 'Call My Name' for instance.
I also think Red is spot on by saying Cheryl gets massive rotation on commercial radio so they don't need to push it as much and she's on solo album 4 now. It means they can push more alt-pop like FKA Twiggs which is much better!
It's all about 'Koala' this week!
Still gobsmacked that they haven't added Avicii!
I think it's good that all the TOTDs don't get playlisted it makes the overall songs the station plays a bit more varied!
