BuzzJack Music Forum _ Pop _ G.R.L. - Kiss Myself

Posted by: JosephStyles 28th September 2016, 10:52 PM

The new line-up of G.R.L., consisting of original members Lauren Bennett and Natasha Slayton plus new member Jazzy Mejia, are releasing their first single as a three-piece tomorrow (29th September - guessing anyway because it's out in New Zealand etc), and it's called Kiss Myself, you can hear it below:

They're not signed and I think it's pretty clear in the song, it's a bit basic really, but it's catchy and not at all bad, I rather like it.

This is incredible!!! So happy they are kinda back ❤️

Posted by: Juliano 29th September 2016, 01:01 AM

Omg I am living for this! I hope they can get signed again.

Posted by: mdh 29th September 2016, 06:54 AM

Well this is brilliant. NEEDS to smash.

Posted by: Cucumberella 29th September 2016, 08:51 AM

Posted by: jakewild 29th September 2016, 10:36 AM

this is fun. i can't @ this lineup tho. just make a new band??

Posted by: Cameron 29th September 2016, 11:04 AM

I quite like this, hoping they can get re-signed at some point, although it will not be the same without the vocals of Simone and Emmalyn sad.gif

Posted by: skankhunt42 29th September 2016, 12:30 PM

New Sugababes.

Posted by: Davidson 29th September 2016, 02:36 PM

i do actually like this, it is very catchy and good fun

nothing that is going to stay with me but i can have a lil dance over the next few days to it

Posted by: Tombo 19th October 2016, 08:44 AM

This is a great song, I am so happy to have the band back, even though the lineup is different.

Posted by: awardinary 20th November 2016, 11:36 PM

Any chance of this making some kind of resurgence soon, or has it's moment already passed? huh.gif

Posted by: Jack 20th November 2016, 11:54 PM

It's moment passed as soon as it was released tbh.

!

I was hoping it would have some form of recognition. A video top 50 in Australia, but the girls were saying it was only a buzz single and they are releasing the first official single "Are We Good?" soon.

What sort of chart is that? Did it even have a video?

Oops, sorry, I'm some how missed out the words and/or. laugh.gif

Great girlband track, shame radio will never give it the love it deserves.

Posted by: Tombo 3rd May 2017, 11:47 AM

I love this song, I am hoping that they can get an album out cheer.gif

What are they up to these days? Still tryna make it in Oz?

Posted by: UltraGreenLight 3rd May 2017, 02:37 PM

I think they split up again?

What? Are you joking? Omfggg, not my fave girl group broken up again

Posted by: cqmerqn 5th May 2017, 10:03 PM

Well they're flops so what do you expect

Posted by: Cameron 7th May 2017, 05:48 PM

Natasha released a solo single which is awful

Posted by: tommie 7th May 2017, 10:17 PM

They were doomed once they called their "comeback" single Kiss Myself.

Posted by: Tombo 23rd February 2018, 09:45 AM

Jazzy is unsure if we're getting any more new music from G.R.L.

I wasn't quite sure where to post this but this seemed like the most recent G.R.L. thread I could find

Posted by: Jack 23rd February 2018, 09:46 AM

It's so sad what happened to them. Ugly Heart, Vacation and Show Me What You Got were all such good pop songs.

I really think they could have been the next big girlgroup.

Posted by: Tombo 23rd February 2018, 10:01 AM

Kiss Myself was a great comeback single though, it was a shame it didn't take off. Lighthouse was really good also, I guess after the whole Simone scenario, things were tricky for them.

They were still doing gigs at least up until last September though so I dunno if things are completely done but it looks like it could be going that way, their social medias are pretty dead too, they don't post much.

Posted by: Cameron 23rd February 2018, 10:03 AM

Kiss Myself was horrendous, as was Are We Good.

Ugly Heart, Vacation, Show Me What You Got, Wild Wild Love and Lighthouse were all incredible.

Posted by: Tombo 23rd February 2018, 10:06 AM

Their greatest song of all was Don't Talk About Love

Posted by: shadow2009 13th October 2020, 01:38 PM

Couldn't find another thread about them but it looks like the original four members are getting back together.

Posted by: Jack 13th October 2020, 02:08 PM

It seems a bit late....will anyone be bothered?

I mean, they never made enough of an impact the first time round to be considered 'old' and I think most people would sympathise and root for them considering the circumstances.

How did you find this out? I can’t find any announcement on Twitter, Instagram or Google.

If it’s true then this is amazing and I can’t wait.

Edit: I’ve seen the @GRLMedia tweets now. Hopefully it’s true as there doesn’t seem to be an official announcement anywhere

Yeah, I mean, remember those accounts about the "new" PCD line-up? I get a feeling there are some people within the PCD/GRL/Robin Antin girl group "community" that gets off on creating rumours.

Posted by: shadow2009 14th October 2020, 02:10 PM

Emmalyn replied to a fan on Twitter with a winking emoji when they asked about the reunion, and Jazzy said she wasn't going to be a part of it plus the group minus Lauren have been posting videos on social media together.

Posted by: Tombo 29th October 2020, 09:00 PM

It’s been nice seeing the videos of some of them together again.

It’s a shame Jazzy isn’t involved though as I do like her and it would have been nice to see her with the members she hasn’t been with

Posted by: shadow2009 11th December 2020, 03:42 PM

Paula has left already. sad.gif

Posted by: JulianNial 11th December 2020, 05:51 PM

Urgh what a mess. I was getting excited.

Posted by: Tombo 12th December 2020, 04:25 PM

What the heck??

Time to bring back Jazzy then biggrin.gif

Omg it’s about time. Listening to Rewind in HQ wub.gif

Posted by: JulianNial 26th January 2021, 09:59 PM

Yay! Now to create my fake album on Spotify laugh.gif

G.R.L. - Vacation

1. Vacation
2. Ugly Heart
3. Wild Wild Love (feat. Pitbull)
4. Show Me What You Got
5. Rewind
6. Don't Talk About Love
7. Girls Are Always Right
8. Kiss Myself
9. Are We Good?
10. Lighthouse

A GREAT playlist (Except for Serena... I mean 'Are We Good?).

Posted by: shadow2009 30th January 2021, 02:13 PM

According to an Instagram Live they did a few days ago, 'Don't Talk About Love' was going to be the next single from their EP after 'Ugly Heart'. laugh.gif

Yikes.

EDIT - And OMG I've went down a rabbit hole of GRL videos today and found this horrible interview with Natasha from 2019 -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm60QU5NRy8

The interviewers are constantly talking over her, interrupting, talking about themselves, one of them didn't even know Simone committed suicide and the way they spoke about it/asked Natasha about it was so casual and then the started speculating and making assumptions as to why it happened. Ugh. Gross.

Posted by: Tombo 6th February 2021, 07:30 AM

Don’t Talk About Love is their best song, I wish it was a single. I am glad it is finally on the U.K. Spotify..

Yes I definitely agree about that interview, it was so annoying when they kept speaking over her and especially when she was talking about Simone.

Posted by: JackTheeStallion 7th February 2021, 12:24 PM

'Show Me What You Got' and 'Rewind' are such hidden gems wub.gif

It's still such a shame what happened to them sad.gif. They were SO good.

Posted by: tommie 7th February 2021, 12:30 PM

When Lighthouse was released I was always under the impression that it was mostly done to give some sort of "statement" about Simone's tragic passing rather than trying to get a hit as it probably would've been seen as inappropriate to drop something uptempo and that a new proper single would eventually follow and then just... nothing. Not sure what happened there to be honest. Ugly Heart had obviously been a big enough hit for them.
