It's my favourite Hot 100 #1 since I Like It, although I have a lot of time for thank u, next too. One of the biggest growers of 2018 and it's still not old for me

Yeh even I like it and it's just a pure pop song imo!

Liking the remix, although I do prefer the original still It should definitely give it an (unneeded) boost in the US though and keep her at the top a while longer

sure the only purpose of that remix is for the song to remain at #1 in the US

I believe this is the first song she’s written about her life Nah, or at least it's not the first personal song shes written. The whole of Badlands is a concept album based around how she deals with her bipolar disorder with "the badlands" being the darker/more lonely places in her mind. Even as far back as her Room93 EP shes written about relationships shes had etc. I think HFK is more about her playing into the forbidden romance story she wanted to tell with that album, there's probably elements that are true to her life in there as well, even if they're dramatized for the sake of the album but she's always striked me as someone who takes inspiration from her own life when it comes to her music. As for the genre debate a few pages ago, Halsey started out being pretty alternative/indie pop largely due to where her fan base originated from (her basically sprouting from tumblr and soundcloud or whatever) I guess, she appealed to a lot of people that were fans of music that didn't necessarily fit into one box rather than just being a mainstream pop artist. I'd agree that she's since become a lot more commercial and she is losing that alternative edge she did have but I guess we'll see where her next album takes her. It doesn't really matter tbh anyway, pop music is always gonna have crossovers with other genres since it's literally just whatever is popular at a particular time Also v happy this got #1, it's definitely not my favourite Halsey song, it's kinda basic lyrically in comparison to her earlier stuff but it is such an earworm and just a really good pop song- I do adore it, she does deserve the hit and I'm glad it is with something personal as this will hopefully help her realise that she can write that sort of song and still have it smash. I felt like a lot of her HFK era was based on trying to write something that would chart well rather than just writing bc it was something she wanted to do?? |

Halsey will host and perform on Saturday Night Live on 9th February. Unless she releases a new song before then, I imagine Eastside will be her second song

Eastside seems like it was released forever ago but it's only peaking now in the US

Eastside seems like it was released forever ago but it's only peaking now in the US Only because the US includes airplay and songs seem to take forever to peak on radio. If you go by Spotify, it actually peaked ages ago: 21-15-10-19-10-14-10-17-14-14-17-33-26-26-37-34-38-41-35-42-54-42-38-59-28-25-25-29-... If only the US didn't include airplay then their chart would be a little bit faster. |
