Source?

Posted by: Red Blooded Man Jul 5 2015, 12:00 PM

It's time for a Christmas album really.

Posted by: Dannyboy Jul 5 2015, 02:08 PM

Its been confirmed by inside sources on pop justice and Say Hey

Posted by: Regina Jul 5 2015, 02:19 PM

I won't believe anything until she cofirms it herself.

Posted by: Dannyboy Jul 5 2015, 02:50 PM

Normally I would agree but the source on Sayhey is rarely wrong, I hope this time he is

Posted by: Regina Jul 5 2015, 02:53 PM

She's got nothing to lose from doing a X-mas album though. It's not like anything else she does will be much of a success.
Besides, people love Santa Baby and Let It Snow.
Something jazzy/orchestral with a few new songs and some duets would be nice. If promoted like the Abby Road Sessions she could possibly get another Gold album.

Ready for The North Pole Sessions tbh.

Posted by: Dannyboy Jul 5 2015, 05:55 PM

Its embarrassing, cringy and cheesy, for years ive always said I was happy she didn't lower herself to do something like this cry.gif

Posted by: Regina Jul 5 2015, 05:57 PM

Not if handled properly. Kelly Clarkson's one is stunning and Leona Lewis's helped her regain much needed limelight and success,

Posted by: Aphrodite Jul 5 2015, 07:08 PM

In general I hate Christmas albums so I hope it's not true. If it is true and it is promoted well it could outsell kiss me once. It's an album I would purchase to keep my collection complete but its likely I'd wait to purchase until going cheap.

I agree that a Kylie Christmas album could work perfectly if handled the right way. Certainly could do with an original song as lead single a la Kelly and Leona.

It's not embarrassing or cringy. Lots of artists release a Christmas album at some point in their career. I just hope it will include some original songs and not all covers.

Yeah usually at the end of their careers, the only person who has done it well is Mariah, no one wants it and it just adds to the publics view that she just isn't remotely relevant other than a heritage artist

Posted by: Regina Jul 12 2015, 02:12 PM

She isn't relevent though laugh.gif and hasn't been for years now.
I can think of so many artists in recent time who released an X-mas album early on in their careers and it working well for them. Just because you don't want her
to do it, doesn't mean that nobody wants it.

I agree with your first comment but I cant think of any credible artist other than Mariah who has done well with a Christmas album and im sorry but no fan wants this album, by far more of the majority of the kylie forums clearly show that, obviously ill buy it, I hope it does well but this is the first time in nearly 30 years where I have no interest in a kylie album.

Posted by: Regina Jul 12 2015, 02:22 PM

Saying "no fans" want this is utter bollocks when there are people in this very thread who would want one.
Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis all had success with their Christmas albums.

Posted by: Dannyboy Jul 12 2015, 02:38 PM

ok 99% of her fans don't want a Christmas album, this is based on her main forum say hey, not a few fans on here.

Kelly Clarkson did well in America/Canada, not surprising, most her stuff does, bombed in every other market massively though, and yeah ill give you Leona, only because of that great single which I hope Kylie will have, a classic Christmas album, as for the other 2, mums annual Christmas prezzies lol

I just don't think that if you are trying to be relevant which she does on every album recently, this will not help, final nail in the coffin after the brilliant abbey road album.

I was all excited about the new kylie era with Fernando Garibay, was hoping it may give her a boost musically, make her maybe slightly cooler (wouldn't take much lol), then I heard about a bloody Christmas album

Posted by: Regina Jul 12 2015, 02:46 PM

SayHey is full of nutters tho, horrible place to visit.

If Kylie were to do an album like Michael or Josh then it'd be much better received than if she did a Mariah though, Kylie always gets praise for her more classical sounding stuff. Besides, Michael and Josh have a much wider appeal than just Mums and anyway is that such a bad thing when you see how much they have both sold? Kylie would KILL for an album to sell millions of copies.

She hasn't been trying to be relevent with her recent albums, she hasn't been trying full stop.

Posted by: pippa Jul 13 2015, 08:33 AM

I do not think a Christmas album would be the right move for Kylie. Kylie needs to concentrate on brand new music and work out the direction she wants to go for the future. I would suggest she works harder on a brand new album as she vastly needs to improve on what she delivered with Kiss Me Once.

Posted by: liamk97 Jul 13 2015, 02:45 PM

Apparently this Christmas album is to be disco influenced: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a657977/kylie-minogue-is-apparently-going-to-release-a-christmas-album-of-disco-hits.html#~pikGNqdtHnhkRz So the same sound she's done the past 15 years! laugh.gif

So "Your Christmas Disco Needs You" is coming after all...

Posted by: slowdown73 Jul 13 2015, 08:59 PM

I don't know what all the fuss is about in terms of Kylie doing a Christmas album. I think we should be grateful to be getting another album. It might do well and then again it might not but I'm just happy we are getting some new material. Christmas albums can work well for some artists. Celine Dion did well with hers in the 90s.

Posted by: Regina Jul 13 2015, 09:04 PM

Celine Dion was at the height of her career though.

Posted by: mr_aly Jul 13 2015, 09:33 PM

I can't say the prospect of this enthuses me greatly, but at least it's something and will make the festive season that extra bit more special for me this year.

I could see it maybe doing okay for her, I'm confident it'll outsell Kiss Me Once at any rate.

Posted by: pippa Jul 14 2015, 07:58 AM

Celine Dion was huge in the era she released her Christmas album, that said,it did not chart too highly in the UK, considering at that time she was selling a million plus with each album released her Christmas album very much under performed.

I kind of feel that way too. I know I'll enjoy it but it would have to be like Leona's - new songs and covers that are made her own - for me to really like it.

I'm pretty confident it'll do well as Kylie always gets good promo in the Christmas period if she has a release out.

The Celine Christmas album reached no20 but made platinum status. Kylie might struggle with sales for a Christmas album but if they get the single release right then who knows. Good original Christmas songs are thin on the ground so hopefully Kylie can make an impact.

Posted by: Regina Jul 14 2015, 09:55 PM

It went Gold, not Platinum.

Posted by: pippa Jul 15 2015, 07:31 AM

If Kylie and her team could come up with a decent brand new Christmas song she could do well and as Mr Aly said the album should outsell Kiss Me Once at any rate.

Actually most of her albums released towards the end of the year have actually sold well, reaching past at least platinum.

Christmas style albums can struggle unless they get the right exposure but Buble has sold over 2 million of his xmas album so they can do well.

Part of me thinks "WTF YOU STUPID HOBBIT WOMAN" but then, he is pretty big in America, so this might get her some much needed suport? He'd surely have her on
his show, loads of artists have been getting big boosts after that car Karaoke thing.

True, although being trapped in a small recording room for hours on end with James flaming Corden wouldn't be my first idea of fun! tongue.gif

Posted by: mr_pmt Sep 18 2015, 10:37 PM

If (very big IF) he can help Kylie bag another top 10 to her name I'd possibly overlook his involvement. Otherwise, it's of no use to me.

Yes, there are some brand new original tracks. There are 3 brand new songs on the standard version called 'White December', 'Christmas Isn't Christmas 'Til You Get Here' and 'Every Day's Like Christmas', the latter of which was written by Coldplay's Chris Martin.

The deluxe edition features three further new songs, including the special Dannii team-up '100 Degrees'.

Posted by: mr_pmt Oct 2 2015, 09:34 AM

I've merged the topics.

I'm quite looking forward to 'Christmas Wrapping', I was hoping she'd do that. The prospect of a James Corden duet repulses me though, I won't lie.

Do Christmas albums count as studio albums then? If so, this is Kylie's 13th. Watch this out-sell Kiss Me Once! laugh.gif

I know it will be an album that in large I won't like as im not a fan of these types of albums but il buy it and give it a go. Thank god she hasn't covered the horrid last Christmas as I was horrified by the rumour it would be the lead single and feature Dannii. If she does loads of promo and against the odds gets a hit this could sell on the same lines of Abbey road which isn't bad.

What?

It's a nice enough cover, though her face looks overly airbrushed.

Posted by: Umi Oct 5 2015, 04:09 PM

I don't massively like the cover, personally. Even for a Christmas album it's just much too saccharine. A lot of the stuff that's unlikable about Kylie to the young generation is represented in that artwork.

Posted by: Regina Oct 5 2015, 04:28 PM

How so? She's stood infront of a glittery K, there's nothing overly sentimental or OTT about the cover. It's just a bad angle and overly photoshopped.

Posted by: Umi Oct 5 2015, 06:47 PM

I find it very fake. It's not a sentimental type of saccharine, but it has that "Look how lovely and happy I always am" quality to it that I find Kylie has had a real overabundance of recently (most notably in interviews, but her more notable recent singles too). I don't think "Kylie is so lovely" is something that really washes with people anymore, it always feels so forced with her.

Posted by: Regina Oct 5 2015, 06:50 PM

She's always been that way though. She is a genuinely happy and lovely person.

Posted by: Umi Oct 5 2015, 08:02 PM

I know that, I'm certainly not accusing her of being a bad person or whatever. I just think it's got to the point where her loveliness is one-dimensional to the point of making one wonder why exactly it's the only thing we ever really see from her. Of course, she has made efforts to show other sides to her recently with big parts of the KMO album for one part, but not many people actually got to experience that.

Part of Kylie's appeal has always been "she's so nice!" but I feel like as she heads into this stage of her career, where the other parts of her personality are less in demand (she's not a sex symbol anymore, stuff like 'Sexercise' doesn't excite the public now), the nice factor gets pushed to the forefront so much that it starts to make her look bland.

Posted by: Regina Oct 5 2015, 08:33 PM

We see plenty of other sides to her though, not just her niceness, I don't see what's wrong with being a nice person? You said she comes off as fake by being nice, but
if she was to change herself to not be nice then she IS going to come off as fake, everyone knows and loves her for being nice. You don't go to Kylie to see her shade another popstar or swear on live tv etc.
Your KMO comment make me laugh, she never showed anything there she hasn't already, and in a better light.

I say she is still a sex symbol, to a different fanbase maybe, but she's still got it.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Oct 5 2015, 10:13 PM

Course she will be doing TV appearances . 100% Strictly. probably G Norton, A Carr and maybe X-factor plus other stuff...... Children In Need the day after album release..... etc. She will want this album to go top 10 and stay around for Xmas and gain sales even if lower down chart.

The songs should get some very good Xmas streaming......

I am looking forward to Christmas Wrapping with Iggy Pop and also 100 degrees with Dannii.....

wonder if there will be a lead single? 6th Nov to early for a Xmas release? Maybe the J Corden will be released as its not just an Xmas record...

Posted by: Aphrodite Oct 5 2015, 11:06 PM

She needs to push the album and promote as much as possible. Kylie hasnt the selling power she once had so she needs to throw everything she can to do well which i think she can do. I would be happy if she can get another top 10 album with this, any higher is a bonus. I know very different artists, but Leona Lewis didnt get a top 10 with her Christmas album and she managed a decent sized hit which is probably unlikely to happen for Kylie.

Posted by: Regina Oct 6 2015, 08:28 AM

Wanting to do promo and actually getting the promo are two different things. Shows will be less likely to book her to sing Christmas songs till mid to late December and by then, a lot of shows are off air.

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE Oct 6 2015, 12:20 PM

She should get Strictly. She's got a good relationship with the Beeb.

Posted by: liamk97 Oct 6 2015, 01:25 PM

Yeah, I'd say Strictly could be pretty likely. X Factor would be less likely but they did after all get her on the show to perform a decade-old hit that hadn't been transformed too much, plus she always gets a big reaction from the audience. Chat shows from Jonathan Ross, Graham Norton and Alan Carr will still be on during December and all three hosts seem to be fans. Kylie usually has decent promo in the lead up to Christmas and I suspect it shall be good this time.

I get what Umi is saying about Kylie and her nice image not appealing to younger audiences. Not that she has to be a bitch, I don't think there's anything wrong with the way she presents herself in interviews because people like it when celebrities are down to earth, just her things like her releases need to have a little bit of edge to them. I think the record company would have been better off at pushing 'Sexercise' as a single as the video I thought was genuinely sexy opposed to embarrassing, plus the music on her two EPs with Fernando Garibay have shown something a little more interesting.

Isn't Kylie Christmas her last release with Parlophone (I don't know what happened after the reports her contracted ended)? If so, then I think this is a good closing chapter and her Garibay collaborative EPs are a little taste of the future.

Posted by: Regina Oct 6 2015, 01:49 PM

Her contract with Parlo has ended, this is a "one off" type thing.

Posted by: liamk97 Oct 6 2015, 02:01 PM

I thought as much. Like I say, it's a good closing chapter as obviously a greatest hits would be pointless.

Posted by: Regina Oct 6 2015, 04:07 PM

Especially after the turd that came out in 2012.

Posted by: liamk97 Oct 6 2015, 05:02 PM

I'll never get over how 'Timebomb' wasn't included, not to mention how the tracking list that was supposedly chosen by the fans had 'Celebration' on it.

I suppose it's at least appealing to casual fans of her Parlophone work and the odd hit from 80s/90s.

Posted by: Regina Oct 6 2015, 05:02 PM

My view is always that had "Timebomb" been included in the Greatest Hits, it would've pushed GH into a Top 10 position, rather than the annoying No.11 spot. sleep.gif

Posted by: liamk97 Oct 6 2015, 05:06 PM

I like it too but I just find it hard to believe fans would actually pick it when they have the rest of her singles discography to choose from (like '2 Hearts' for instance. smoke.gif).

Indeed. I mean it probably wouldn't have sold a lot more but it would at least make the collection more appealing to fans who already own the rest of the songs in some way or another.

There must have been some issue with adding 'Timebomb' because I don't see why they left it off through choice.

As far as I'm aware she 100% not with Parlo but she has a relationship with them that its open ended, she takes the project to them and they distribute it, should be interesting how the next album project goes in 2016, from what ive heard it all depends on how big the Christmas album is for them commercial.

One would hope she actually gets another label for the studio album rather than just go back to Parlo and have them bugger it up like they have done with her last few.

The New Cover>>>>>

Posted by: Regina Oct 13 2015, 12:50 PM

It seems like Let It Snow and Santa Baby are the same versions we've already heard, no surprise tbh, but it'd be nice if she put other songs in their place.

Posted by: slowdown73 Oct 13 2015, 02:29 PM

I still think this album will struggle and might not even sell as much as kiss me once. I hope I'm wrong but Christmas albums can be difficult to market and Kylie is at a time in her career which is rapidly in decline.

Posted by: Aphrodite Oct 14 2015, 12:02 AM

Fair point slowdown, while i think it will sell more than Kiss Me Once, many Christmas albums have bombed for artists so it could go either way.

Posted by: Regina Oct 14 2015, 06:40 PM

If Leona Lewis can sell decently then Kylie can. This won't sell like Rod Stewart or Michael Buble did, but it can still do decently. Plus, this is the sorta thing that will
gain sales year on year.

Shame if it is the exact same, would have thought it would have some new production.

Will seek out previews if they are out there now.....

I think you will all be surprised by this.

She has some original material on here and a DVD with some fun videos. She knows how to package so fans buy multiple copies etc. She will get and actually do promo, she is not lazy like some artists who release Xmas music then don't promote etc. Her James Corden duet will get publicity easily, her Dannii duet also. Plus she has a RAH concert so she is in London and ready to work. Radios will play her Xmas, shops will play and many fans will buy this album to give to as presents smile.gif, plus the usual Xmas market will shift a few extra sales easily.

Of course it only has a limited selling time as no one will want it after Xmas, until Xmas 2016 that is etc.....

Lets see

KMO was all new material and that hardly set the world alight.
People will likely just buy the deluxe, I don't know anyone who will buy a standard edition and then the deluxe too.
X-mas promo won't be until December, a good month after the album comes out, it might have sunk without a trace by then.
I don't see why her duets would get that much publicity unless James himself mentions it on his show.
We don't know that radio or shops will play her songs.

Posted by: Mullo Oct 15 2015, 03:18 PM

Looks like the RAH show will be televised in some format before Xmas too

Posted by: Regina Oct 15 2015, 03:43 PM

I hope so, that should help matters.

Regina Regina..... Bah Humbug......

This is Kylie Christmas...... it is exactly the camp, extravagant music that most of her fans want. It will do ok. 13th November isn't that long away from Xmas .... we will be listening to Xmas songs by then.... J Corden will of course mention it, he has already tweeted he cannot wait for its release..... its 'Only You' so can be for XMas but also anytime of the year etc.

Posted by: Regina Oct 15 2015, 10:35 PM

She's been doing camp, extravagant music for 15 years now and most are bored of it.

I imagine it'll be a case of promoting different songs at once (one sent to radio, one with a simple video, performances of a couple others etc.) instead of one song getting the single treatment.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Oct 31 2015, 10:25 PM

I agree...... those album releases are stacked for 6th,13th, 20th Nov..... I would like her to get a top 10 album but now am thinking more like top 20... but she can get promo to keep longevity until Xmas so lets see.....

TFI should be good promo, she needs Radio play from somewhere and a single.... Her James Corden duet could well be her saviour......

Posted by: Regina Oct 31 2015, 11:17 PM

It is more likely to be the nail in the coffin for the album campaign. People will see it as nothing more than a naff jokey song.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 2 2015, 12:27 AM

Regina - why be so negative?

everyone has albums out in next few weeks. I think 13th Nov maybe a week to early, but at least it gets the songs streaming etc for the festive season. The James Corden song could do well and he has his talk show in USA so could pick up a few sales over there.

Posted by: mr_pmt Nov 2 2015, 02:59 PM

The original song certainly isn't a naff or jokey song, but I am trying to pretend that duet isn't actually happening. I seriously can't stand that man.

There isn't any hype around this, I've only seen passing mentions of it in news articles that are about her. I've thought for a while this will most likely not make the top 10.

Posted by: liamk97 Nov 2 2015, 03:12 PM

I can see it clearing 10k which would usually be a guaranteed place in the Top 10 but, given the amount of releases for the 13th November, as well as Ellie and Little Mix' albums the week before and Elvis and Rod Stewart's albums out now which should all still be Top 10, it could miss out.

Posted by: Regina Nov 2 2015, 03:30 PM

People will hear that she has a song with James Corden and go straight to "oh it's going to be naff, no thanks" no matter how good the original song is and no matter how
big his talk show is.

Britney Jean sold 13k early December 2013 and it was only enough to chart at #34, so Kylie would need to be looking at selling 20k+ to go Top 10 I would have thought.

Oh that's better, haha! Yeah, chances are the #10 position will be closer to 20k when Kylie debuts so Top 10 for her does seem slim, but I've no doubt the album will have a consistent run in the Top 40 until New Year as promo picks up.

Posted by: pippa Nov 2 2015, 07:56 PM

Kylie i would believe has a strong loyal fan base to get enough opening week sales to make the top 10.

Posted by: Regina Nov 2 2015, 08:26 PM

Her loyal fanbase isn't big enough to get her to topple the other acts releasing that week though.

Yes, it was only during Fever she was able to take in all comers. 14 years ago, eeeeeek.

She would kill for an Ultimate Kylie style run this time round. Sales will be a way down due to the marketplace for albums but that would result in at least 200k.

However I think the best we can hope for is first week top ten, a drop to low top 40 then a climb back to top 20 in the fortnight preceding Chrimbo. As Pippa says she does still have a fanbase, we will surely get her top ten week one, even with the big guns all releasing.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 2 2015, 11:00 PM

She could get quite good streaming figures... only takes 1 advert to use an Xmas song.... there are G Norton, A Carr, J Ross, X-factor, Strictly.... she s bound to get promo on at least 3 of those I would say.. usually One Show, ITV This morning, Lorraine all should get bits of promo even if she not actually in studios..... She has TFI and Royal Variety also.... she releases vinyl version 27th so should get around 1.5k extra that week. Also radio play.... she is bound to get some.... she needs to release a single next Friday really but it is too early for an Xmas single? so maybe no lead single, especially as she has 6 videos on the CD deluxe already.....

Lets see!!!!!

Plus we have RAH gig on 11th Dec.... will they film and show before Xmas or wait til next year? you would think that everyone attending her gig there would buy a copy of the album!!

Posted by: slowdown73 Nov 2 2015, 11:11 PM

I expect the album will go top10 in the first week - given album sales are fairly low this year and it will be mainly hardcore fans buying this. It will drop after that and unlikely to recover to the top10 status but depending on the success of the album promotion, it might hang around down the lower end of the charts. Its unlikely to sell more than KMO in total and might well sell less.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 3 2015, 10:21 AM

it didn't with KMO when they gave it to Guardian to stream and stream and lost sales

Posted by: Regina Nov 3 2015, 11:53 AM

I hardly think so, I think the poor quality of the album is what lost sales.

Posted by: aeroco Nov 3 2015, 11:53 AM

Regina - I think you were spot on, Santa Baby and LIS are the same versions, according to the previews :-(

Posted by: Regina Nov 3 2015, 12:07 PM

Her voice really does not go well with Frank's :/ and I hate HATE that whispery vocal thing she does in some tracks. Iggy Pop ruins Christmas Wrapping.
Who the f*** told James Corden he could sing? Jesus Christ.....
Some of it sounds pretty decent though, Every Day’s Like Christmas sounds pretty fab, so it's not all hopeless.

Posted by: aeroco Nov 3 2015, 12:18 PM

Not sure I agree with your assessment of the duets however, James Corden sings like he speaks, no range or power. But it is passable. Certainly not the horror of Jason Donovan - appalling singer, nasty voice.

It is much better than I thought, hope the bonus tracks have something disco tinged but not naff. Is the duet with Trannii is supposed to be disco?

Just checked Amazon and there are SOOOO many albums coming out 6th, 13th, 20th November from big acts.... I fear she will miss the top 10, but as long as it stays top 40 until Xmas I will be happy.

She is going to Australia to do some promo too so needs to fit in as much on UK as possible.

She is singing at the Post Office Children In Need Ball tonight ...... not sure if she will sing an Xmas song.... doubtful (just seen a clip, and its the same KMO set and costumes zzzzzz)

Its not a release im excited about, i know i wont like it but i will be buying it for the collection. I hope she can go top 10 with it at some stage, if her loyal fans stick by her and a few casual buyers she should make the top 10.

Posted by: Regina Nov 4 2015, 09:26 PM

I must confess, I am more excited about the Kylie wrapping paper than the actual album.

Posted by: mr_pmt Nov 4 2015, 11:06 PM

Dannii posted about this on Instagram, and asked people to pre-order from Kylie's website... except her iPhone autocorrect made an error and it said "pre-order from Julie.com". laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Yes. I am hoping she is selling a lot more off her website than Amazon......... the wrapping paper could be the saviour of Kylie Christmas!!! smile.gif

Kylie Tweeted a pic of a holly wreath and said she was filiming.......

would love a Kylie TV special.... or maybe a TV advert?

cant think she would be filming so early for anything else yet?

Posted by: Regina Nov 5 2015, 07:43 PM

They film the Royal Variety show around this time.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 5 2015, 08:38 PM

no, Royal Variety is on the 13th and shown on tv the following week

on 13th also is cinema premier of A Christmas Gift, Kylie has a cameo appearance in this Northern Irish youth made movie - great cause. maybe she sings a song...

The Headless Postman, very reliable insider on Sayhey, is dropping hints she is filming the video for the lead single and that is has a decent budget. 2 day shoot.

Going to need to be a quick edit, unlike The Other Boys video.

Posted by: Regina Nov 6 2015, 03:40 PM

Leaving it WAY too late if true.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 6 2015, 03:53 PM

Maybe she is going for 'big single' after album released..... interesting tactic....... Regina she cant release an Xmas song in mid October..... lol

Nice interview about her 'boyfriend' 'new album etc http://www.pridesource.com/article.html?article=73992

Posted by: Regina Nov 6 2015, 03:57 PM

Why did you air quote boyfriend? laugh.gif he's real y'know.

Posted by: Regina Nov 6 2015, 04:31 PM

She better hold onto this one, easily the best looking one she's had since....ever.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 7 2015, 02:12 AM

Kylie in the Matalan Xmas advert it seems...... is that what she was filming..... would be good if they used one of her songs..

oh no sorry its just an campaign for Matalan and a hospital charity.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 7 2015, 02:57 AM

So I am now very doubtful Kylie will get a top 10 album

Already in/going to be in charts and will sell loads Ellie Goulding, Coldplay, Elvis, Little Mix, Sam Smith etc

Released same day - ben Haenow, Justin Bieber, Eva Cassidy, Ed Sherran re-issue, One Direction, Andre Rieu etc

Plus many more that will sell lots...

No one is buying normal version..... people just buying deluxe version, no vinyl sales until 27th and not many downloaded it on ITunes..... hopefully Kylie fans will get behind it

Posted by: Ja˙ Nov 7 2015, 07:23 AM

I don't think it's too much of a big deal if it misses the Top 10. A lot of Christmas albums by popular artists haven't managed that:

QUOTE
Justin Bieber - Under The Mistletoe - #13
Leona Lewis - Christmas With Love - #13
Celine Dion - These Are Special Times - #20
Mary J. Blige - A Mary Christmas - #28
Mariah Carey - Merry Christmas - #33 I'm amazed that this didn't chart higher, particularly as she released it between two #1 studio albums.
Idina Menzel - Holiday Wishes - #42
Kelly Clarkson - Wrapped In Red - #65
Mariah Carey - Merry Christmas II You - #101
Destiny's Child - 8 Days of Christmas - #117

So yeah, if Kylie peaked within the Top 10 that would actually be very good. As you say, the competition is hotting up, so I'd be happy enough if it went Top 15.

Obviously there's some notable Christmas albums that did go Top 10, for instance Susan Boyle's The Gift and Home For Christmas reached #1 & #9 respectively. Then of course there's Michael Bublé's Christmas which was phenomenally successful (#1, 2,200,000+ sales!).

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 7 2015, 11:16 AM

Interesting....

Lets see how it goes.... I think she is going to put effort into this....

I would actually like to see one of the songs get into the top 40 again for her more than the album. LOL

Posted by: Regina Nov 7 2015, 11:21 AM

She shouda gotten Josh Groban involved, his X-mas album is one of the best selling ever and a song with him would do more for her than the likes of Iggy Pop or
James Corden.

He's also a babe but that's irrelevant.

I see no effort so far tbh.

Posted by: Qween Nov 7 2015, 11:22 AM

Christmas albums aren't really a huge deal in the UK, so if she does manage a decent peak with this then it'll be down to HER as much as anything. At this time of year though, sales are far more important than where it actually lands on the chart. If she does all the promo out there it should sell nicely until January and rack up a good total.

Anyway, I'm guessing #18 (for now) with a total of about 70k before years end.

Posted by: Regina Nov 7 2015, 08:35 PM

Chances are she is just promoting CIN and the snazzy shirt, but maybe she has a spot? Wishful thinking I guess.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 8 2015, 12:51 AM

well she is doing Royal Variety filming on Friday 13th but that may well be early on and she could zoom over to somewhere to perform later on........

I can see her doing lots of promo.... she is going to Australia also to promote so she wants sales...... she will no doubt be performing on Australian X-factor... maybe her duet with Dannii........

She will definitely do either X-factor or Strictly....... she has TFI Friday..... she will do 1 of either G Norton or Alan Carr also.........and I think she will do J Ross........

small interviews with This Morning, Breakfast TV/Lorraine also will defo happen.

I guess it is just choosing the right songs off the album.... will she go new or will she go covers.......

Posted by: Regina Nov 8 2015, 12:27 PM

You're just speculating here, there's no guarantee of any of that.

Posted by: jark Nov 8 2015, 09:18 PM

Also seems to be the first instant grat.

And world exclusive play on BBC Radio 2 this morning on Ken Bruce show .

Posted by: slowdown73 Nov 9 2015, 10:47 AM

Just heard clip of only you on iTunes. I quite like it. It sounds mature and her voice is great. Well produced. If it gets appropriate radio support and promotion, it could be a minor hit as the original is popular and Kylie has done a good version here.

Posted by: Red Blooded Man Nov 9 2015, 12:19 PM

It sounds great, in some ways, it outruns my expectation. I didn't think it would work but yeah, this can do for me.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 9 2015, 12:30 PM

Doing well for the album as the album back up into ITunes top 100 pre-order and the single is already top 200

Got a good premiere on BBC Radio 2 with Ken Bruce.

Posted by: liamk97 Nov 9 2015, 01:28 PM

It's passable, but not wowable, although that's the best that can be expected of something James Cordon is related to.

Posted by: Regina Nov 9 2015, 01:56 PM

"As a fan and friend, I'm so excited to have James Corden duetting with me on the song 'Only You'. He suggested the song for my Kylie Christmas album and I just knew he would sound amazing on it. It's so subtle and lovely and I think it will surprise a lot of people." - Kylie

It's not bad, but not amazing either. Kinda like when you buy a cupcake but there is only a thin layer of icing on top and the crema filling inside is almost non existant. You still eat it and like it, but you are left wanting more.

I like her voice in this and I suppose he's not as bad as I expected, but there's nothing to greatly excite me here.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 9 2015, 05:21 PM

78 now

and more importantly the album is back charting up to 38th in UK ITunes albums so with pre-orders should b high up and get noticed a little on Friday's release

Posted by: Regina Nov 9 2015, 05:25 PM

Pre-orders don't get counted with a new release on itunes anymore I don't think, so it won't start off high.

Posted by: Qween Nov 9 2015, 05:42 PM

I do think this is her best shot at a single doing well, or rather denting the charts at all. I'm not a huge fan of it personally as it's a bit too stripped back for me. They do sound lovely together though and as much as I hate Corden this is him at tolerable levels (mainly because I can't see him and he isn't trying and failing to be funny).

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 9 2015, 05:56 PM

I actually think streaming will help Kylie this Xmas rather than denting her chances ....... it also got played on Radio which none of her Garibay/Nervo stuff did

She will get some Xtra sales if she performs it with James on Late Late Show in USA

think she will do her Dannii duet on Aussie Xfactor when she goes there for promo

its given the album a boost on ITunes up to 35th

Its good start now as she has all her promo still to come.....

Posted by: Regina Nov 9 2015, 06:03 PM

We only have a few confirmed promo spots though.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 9 2015, 06:11 PM

Posted by: Regina Nov 9 2015, 06:13 PM

She didn't for KMO, so why suddenly do it for a X-mas album? Randomly chucking out a song a few days before the album comes out, turning on the Oxford lights but
not doing any kind of performance, it doesn't give much hope.

Aus X-factor finishes next week apparantly.

Posted by: Liаm Nov 9 2015, 06:41 PM

I highly doubt Dannii will sing live on XF. Also there is only the semis next week and the finals the week after left, she won't be doing a duet with the contestants in the final either as none of them left remotely suit her. She'll probably get Strictly.

Posted by: Regina Nov 9 2015, 06:43 PM

Those last two words aren't needed in that first sentence tbh LiLi.

Posted by: ▲Rob▲ Nov 9 2015, 07:24 PM

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 9 2015, 11:26 PM

She has Royal Variety performance on Friday to be shown next week...

you cant sing Xmas songs too early!! Hence she has released a non-Xmas song but Xmassie

up to 58 on UK singles and 32 on Albums so it is doing ok on very little promo/media attention.

She said in a interview I put on here that she is going Australia soon to promote so may well do a week promo here the to aus for the final then back to UK for her vinyl release and Xmas promo etc.

Lets see.

Stop being negative......

Posted by: Aphrodite Nov 10 2015, 01:50 AM

Single/song is much higher than i thought. This time next week we will a good idea of how the album is shaping to make or miss the top 10.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 10 2015, 10:39 AM

A Children in Need performance would have been great...... I cant see it though sadly as she will be at Royal Albert Hall doing Variety performance say day. though......

Well she shouldn't have released the album so early then.

I'm not being negative, I'm being realistic. Kylie is not as in demand or in vogue as she was, shows are gonna be less likely to want to book her, it's just how it is.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 10 2015, 06:05 PM

No.....

Kylie is in demand for TV shows - everyone wants her. its radio stations that don't want to play her songs......

Will Baker is one of the creative directors for X-factor now so hopefully he will get her on there

She was out doing promo this morning early on not sure what for.

single stalling but album doing nicely which is what I think they hoped for

streaming for yesterday totalled 6,000 on Spotify so lets hope that doubles today and so on..... streaming of Xmas songs over Xmas could be important for this release

Posted by: Regina Nov 10 2015, 06:12 PM

Then why was she not on more when she promoted KMO?

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 10 2015, 06:46 PM

She had contractual stuff with The Voice that restricted her somewhat..... and it was all a mess......

She has more control over this release

Posted by: Regina Nov 10 2015, 06:55 PM

She might have more control, but that doesn't change the fact that she is just not in demand anymore.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 10 2015, 07:16 PM

Strictly have had Brian Adams and Seal the last 2 guests....... hardly 'current mega stars'

Alan Carr LOVES Kylie, J Ross LOVES Kylie, BBC LOVES Kylie, she is very well liked and respected and easily likeable.

Posted by: Regina Nov 10 2015, 07:20 PM

They're generally bigger stars than Kylie is though.

She might be liked but she isn't seen as someone who will bring in big viewers to shows.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 10 2015, 10:24 PM

in the world they maybe but not in the UK. Seal was awful. he is having to appear on Sunday Brunch etc

Posted by: Regina Nov 10 2015, 10:38 PM

Posted by: Liаm Nov 12 2015, 02:57 PM

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 12 2015, 03:19 PM

Why cant she just be on it singing rather than having to duet?

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 13 2015, 01:14 AM

Stand Out tracks: 100 degrees, Christmas Wrapping, Christmas Isnt Christmas til you get here, Everyday's like Christmas, 2000 Miles

Very good album, Kylie sounds spot on with vocals in this. Nicely produced.

Posted by: slowdown73 Nov 13 2015, 07:21 AM

Album is no32 on iTunes and much higher than Ben Haenow who will flop. I would imagine she will sell better on physicals so still hoping for top 10 position.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 13 2015, 09:55 AM

Ben haenow moving up quickly as he was on Lorraine.

Kylie got a quick mention on Lorraine and video clip. up to 15th on ITunes. not bad for her.

100% degrees moving nicely.... 383 on UK ITunes smile.gif

Also........... Kylie confirmed to be appearing at Aria Music Awards on 26th Nov... not sure if performing though. So looks like she will be doing a week or so of Promo in Austrialia then back for UK promo

I wasn't wanting this album at all but not gonna lie, I'm loving it ha ha

Posted by: mr_pmt Nov 13 2015, 12:19 PM

They made a MASSIVE mistake not releasing '100 Degrees' as the single and instead going with that James Corden thing. That is all.

Posted by: Regina Nov 13 2015, 12:25 PM

So much for a Disco inspired album, anyway, some of the tracks are a bit too naff for me, but some are actually pretty decent.

Posted by: mr_pmt Nov 13 2015, 12:35 PM

I know, I would have been slightly enthused about this had she full on disco camped it up. It just sounds like cheap, nasty and identical reworkings of the originals for a lot of it.

Posted by: Regina Nov 13 2015, 12:37 PM

It's too much like a watered down mash-up of The Abby Roads Session and one of her PWL albums. Shame.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 13 2015, 01:52 PM

I really enjoying it.

Its camp enough! I was humming the songs while shopping in Tesco which is always a good sign.

LOVE Christmas Wrapping.

positive start too. Move up on ITunes

the Dannii/Kylie duet may well still do ok. its 261 on UK ITunes, J Corden 86. Need some streaming and radio play..

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 13 2015, 01:53 PM

Now the BIG question is......

Which song will she sing at Royal Variety today???

I am guessing a little mash up of 2/3 songs...... Everyday is like Christmas is really catchy!

Posted by: Regina Nov 13 2015, 02:10 PM

Considering her track record, it'll be Santa Baby.

Posted by: mr_pmt Nov 13 2015, 02:20 PM

I know it's camp enough, but the originals themselves are and she's essentially just re-vocalised them. I'd have liked some pizzazz, some sparkle, some of her 'magic' in it.

Christmas Wrapping, It's Not Christmas Til... and 100 Degrees are worthwhile enough though. I'll keep those.

Posted by: Regina Nov 13 2015, 02:27 PM

100 Degrees is annoyingly catchy.

Does she really rhyme Llama with Obama in Oh Santa? laugh.gif

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 13 2015, 02:47 PM

100 degrees zooming up those ITunes charts..... number 238 now on ITunes UK smile.gif

I think the Karen Poole penned Christmas isn't Christmas is very catchy

Think Chris Martin's Everyday is Christmas has a really nice feel to it and can see it being played in shops etc

If she is going to go with Only You in a serious way then it needs a proper video and a performance..... I didn't think it would be and was just to get a few more pre=orders but it is C listed on Radio 2 which signals they are going with it for a few weeks at least...

Santa Baby - Just a class song and Kylie suits it so well

Christmas Wrapping - Fun Fun Fun!

I think Kylie was on Irish radio this morinnig and it did the trick........ the album is number 4 on Irish ITunes only behind Bieber, Adele and 1D

Posted by: Regina Nov 13 2015, 03:00 PM

Having given this a few listens:

09 | It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year Nice and traditional, always liked this song, good verison
05 | Santa Claus Is Coming To Town The voices do not go together, poor version, Faith Hill does it better
05 | Winter Wonderland Faith Hill does it better [2]
07 | Christmas Wrapping Thankfully not much Iggy, no real change to the original but it's a perfect song as it is
07 | Only You James Corden cannot sing. Pointless addition
6.5 | I'm Gonna Be Warm This Winter Not bad, but kinda filler-ish
09 | Every Day's Like Christmas Really liking this one
08 | Let It Snow Pointless to put it on the album, nice version but it's 5 years old now
08 | White December I'm not familiar with this song, but I liked it
10 | 2000 Miles Always loved this, she does it justice. Glad it's not changed much.
07 | Santa Baby Totally pointless addition, ruins the flow for me, a good version though, has been for 15 odd years
07 | Christmas Isn't Christmas 'Til You Get Here Decent, her voice is a bit annoying in it
10 | Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas Same as 2,000 Miles really.
8.5 | Oh Santa Essentially just Santa Baby but more modern and I like how it kicks up in the second half
08 | 100 Degrees Lovely song, Christmassy in lyrics but not in sound which I quite liked
05 | Cried Out Christmas Messy production, annoying vocals, it doesn't know if it's a ballad or uptempo

It's consistant, better than I thought, but there's a lack of proper Kylie magic, it only hints at it in a few tracks. I'd have liked maybe one or two more traditional songs like O Holy Night or Silent Night to have her show off her voice more.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 13 2015, 03:03 PM

From a few photos I just saw looks like she has had a bit of botox/fillers ready for promo.... it needs to settle down!

Posted by: Regina Nov 13 2015, 03:07 PM

What does her appearence have to do with the quality or chart performance of her album?

For her public/press appearances and any photographs taken for the promo is why she's done it.

Posted by: Regina Nov 13 2015, 03:28 PM

It doesn't affect the quality of the album, if she wants to botox up then it's her choice. That's probably me being nit picky though.

Posted by: Cameron Nov 13 2015, 03:47 PM

On my first listen, really enjoying Christmas Wrapping but Iggy Pop should not have been included.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 13 2015, 04:44 PM

I never comment on her appearance etc but she didn't look good on Australian TV, though I think she filmed that a few days ago so hopefully it has settled down. I sont want the media/public to attack her but just enjoy her performances etc smile.gif

anyway the album is 86 on USA ITunes...... that's not too bad smile.gif

Ireland are loving Kylie Christmas... even Only You is up to 28th there on ITunes....

Posted by: Regina Nov 13 2015, 05:07 PM

She'll get attacked no matter what though, it's a sad reality of life. People like to make themselves feel better by trying to being down others.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 13 2015, 05:31 PM

Royal Variety being filmed today, on TV 7th December.......

Wonder if Kylie will do more promo this week or let the album sell itself. Think she is guaranteed a top 20 next Friday without promo. She needs to work on this James Corden song but isn't he is USA all the time doing his late late show....

Anyway quite happy so far with this.... Just needs to stay around until that big Promo starts

Posted by: mr_pmt Nov 13 2015, 05:39 PM

I am really intrigued to see where this will chart this time next week, gotta admit.

Posted by: aeroco Nov 13 2015, 05:58 PM

It's a good, fun addition to her catalogue. The 3 new songs on the standard and the Dannii duet are all good songs, all could be used for promo. Plus 2000 miles, wrapping, good new versions. Plenty of promo in this one.

Expect it will be a Christmas song on Royal variety as it will be shown in December.

Ordered the deluxe from Amazon so have been listening to the free MP3 rip every moment I was alone in the office. Love it. Love Kylie. Forever!

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 13 2015, 08:28 PM

Kylie sang 'Its the most wonderful time of the year' at the Royal Variety performance dressed in white 'very showgirl' outfit https://instagram.com/p/-CW57Mgfwm/

Also they are splashing out.... the album advertised in the Coronation Street adverts!!! Must have cost a bit

Posted by: Regina Nov 13 2015, 09:00 PM

Glad she did one of the better ones, looked good too. Nice mix between sexy and Christmassy.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 13 2015, 09:02 PM

Yep agree.... am she was very good according to a few people on twitter.

A variety of songs promoted over different shows is good for the album and the streaming of the singles over Xmas.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 13 2015, 09:07 PM

Anastasia sold 10.5k to get top 10 this week, Erasure 6.5k for 15th...... it was 27k for a top 5 album. I am hoping Kylie can shift 15k and get a top 10 but like I say those albums releases are stacked this week + Elvis, Beatles, Little Mix, Rod Stewart already selling big numbers.......

Posted by: Regina Nov 13 2015, 09:17 PM

I'd be very worried if she couldn't get over 10K.

Posted by: liamk97 Nov 13 2015, 11:43 PM

Just seen the advert, got a preview of a handful of songs so gives a good insight, but not really wow-worthy. Should still give the album a boost.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 14 2015, 12:14 AM

Cool. well I guess we will see in the first updates of the weeks progress. Just hoping she can snatch a top 10 placing in week one so it gets mentioned.

Posted by: mr_pmt Nov 14 2015, 05:12 AM

She looks utterly stunning in that Instagram pic prepping for the Royal Variety. wub.gif

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 14 2015, 01:47 PM

Great to see the album climb from 12th to 10th on ITunes today.........good sign

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 14 2015, 02:42 PM

More good promo Kylie switching on Liberty Xmas window tomorrow and Liberty on twitter doing a competition for 30 fans to meet Kylie etc......

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CTxB5HFWIAAK0hW.jpg:large

Nice window of Kylie too!!!!!

Posted by: slowdown73 Nov 14 2015, 02:54 PM

Kylie is no5 in first set of midweeks according to Mint Royale.

Posted by: mr_pmt Nov 14 2015, 04:38 PM

cheer.gif

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 14 2015, 05:30 PM

number 5 is good but it will probably drop as mot much promo planned.

Only You got 27k of plays on Spotify UK yesterday its best day by far yet.... all the other tracks got 2.9-4.8k of plays... not bad all day......

Posted by: Regina Nov 14 2015, 06:35 PM

I really wish Kylie coulda done a properly poppy disco Xmas tune, like this:

Easily my favourite Christmas song, something like this would suit Kylie so well.

Also, Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree shoulda been covered.

Posted by: Aphrodite Nov 14 2015, 07:45 PM

Good start for sales so hopefully she will stay top 10,id be happy with anywhere in the top 10 as sales should be ok. I bought it today, i didnt bother listening to samples before, its not as horrific as i thought it would be. Its ok, it will be good background music when im cooking the dinner on Christmas day but its not an album that will have to worry about getting overplayed cry.gif

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 14 2015, 08:12 PM

I am loving the Chris Martin track more and more and White December also!!!!!!

bit worried it may miss top 10 as all the pre-orders on Kylie.com will have kept this high and she is lacking promo this week.

will need to see the sales margins between 5th and 10th...

Posted by: mr_pmt Nov 14 2015, 08:24 PM

I guess we'll know more about those either tomorrow or later in the week.

Her version of 'Santa Claus Is Coming To Town' is actual torture, no exaggeration.

That is high, 270 sales towards the singles chart?

I didn't realise you could split UK streams out of the figures?

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 15 2015, 12:11 PM

Oh is that total streams not UK? I thought it was UK..... oh well maybe not

its been dropping.... was 52nd last week and dropping as no promo, radio play etc..... but streaming increasing

Ireland it went to 21 but dropping now too

The number of streams listed for a song on Spotify represents its worldwide figure.

Kylie doing her bit for Text Santa.... hopefully a performance too on 18th December......

Big crowds for her a Liberties ... lets hope they buy a copy or 2 of the album

Posted by: Regina Nov 15 2015, 12:41 PM

Multiple buying is utterly useless unless they go away and come back with a different method of paying though.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 15 2015, 12:44 PM

but it must count as 2 sales in the long run..... each album has an individual barcode no?

Posted by: Regina Nov 15 2015, 12:52 PM

I think if they are bought in one go, it doesn't count as two, I might be wrong though, I seem to recall it being like that with songs.

Posted by: Aphrodite Nov 15 2015, 03:47 PM

If Only You got good promotion it stands a chance of getting a official top 40 or higher.

Posted by: Regina Nov 15 2015, 03:53 PM

I think the best thing to do is repeat what she did for ARS, perform a range of songs showing the variety of songs on the album. The mix of old and new, uptempo and slower, poppy and traditional is hard to convey with one song.

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE Nov 15 2015, 03:57 PM

It has to be one CD per purchase. It used to be. Not sure how that equates online?

Posted by: Regina Nov 15 2015, 08:33 PM

Every Day's Like Christmas is such the grower *.* perfectly suited to Kylie, the bells near the end, argh, so good.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 15 2015, 09:44 PM

Yes I agree.... Everyday is Christmas is excellent .can see this on X-factor or Strictly with dancers.......

also seem to be humming Chrismas isn't Christmas til you get here all the time lol

I agree new song for every TV promo

Dannii confirmed a performance with Kylie on X-Factor Australia of '100 Degrees'. biggrin.gif

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 15 2015, 11:13 PM

Yes just seen this. Kylie on the X-factor final 24/11 performing 100 degrees!!!

Posted by: Liаm Nov 15 2015, 11:19 PM

Oh christ, Dannii performing live rotf.gif She'll be worse than Mahalia was from week 2 to her elimination.

Posted by: mr_pmt Nov 15 2015, 11:26 PM

Dannii's a good live performer!

She was excellent when I saw her recently.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 16 2015, 01:56 AM

have a feeling this won't make the top 10 next Friday.

Kylie going to Aus tomorrow for 2 weeks..... so no promo and its slipping on Amazon and ITunes quite rapidly.....

Posted by: Aphrodite Nov 16 2015, 03:22 AM

Hopefully her sales are already strong, its hard to call if it will go top 10 or not.

Posted by: slowdown73 Nov 16 2015, 11:56 AM

The album is dropping quickly on iTunes. It's now at 24 but peaked at 10. I'm sure Kylie will stay top 10 but will fall from no5 midweek position as week progresses. She deserves to be top 10 with this album anyway.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 16 2015, 12:01 PM

I just worry about no more promo..... the likes of Andre Rieu, Rod Stewart, The Beatles could all sell very well all week + Elvis, Little Mix, Goulding, ELO etc......lets see sales Margins when published today

Number 7 in the latest midweeks on 10500 sales - that is decent numbers in the current market.

Just shows what a big week this is for new albums.

Posted by: Red Blooded Man Nov 16 2015, 01:02 PM

I have a feeling that it may end up at No.11 sad.gif

Posted by: gooddelta Nov 16 2015, 01:10 PM

It's a nice listen. Nothing groundbreaking but it has some lovely moments. 100 Degrees is great though, what a shame more of the album couldn't have sounded like that!

Posted by: mr_pmt Nov 16 2015, 01:16 PM

I'm okay with #7 today, I thought she'd be around 10,000 for the entire week so pleased with the sales!

Nice basic but fun video they've thrown together for '100 Degrees'. I hope they cancel that dreary Corden thing and push with that instead.

Posted by: Red Blooded Man Nov 16 2015, 01:58 PM

The damn Spotify just won't include the deluxe version which includes 100 Degrees. sleep.gif

Posted by: aeroco Nov 16 2015, 02:04 PM

Hopefully it will mean more sales/ cherry picking of the bonus tracks.

Posted by: liamk97 Nov 16 2015, 02:13 PM

I can confirm that Kylie is actually #6 with almost 10.6k. She sold 1.9k yesterday and must have been overtaken by Little Mix.

Unfortunately, at the current rate albums are selling, Kylie is looking at #12 or #13 tops.

Furthermore, 'Only You' is #160.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 16 2015, 03:19 PM

Oh well Kylie didn't do enough promo this week simples.....

its a pity because a top 10 album would have given it an extra boost in the media..... next week when she is in Australia it could drop quickly....

she has the vinyl coming on 27th so with some promo that week when she is back from Aus then she should stay top 40

Posted by: liamk97 Nov 16 2015, 03:23 PM

I doubt it would have seen a boost from being Top 10, but it would have been nice to see, aside from Let's Get to It, Kylie keep up her run of Top 10 studio albums. Still, it at least has a decent shot at going Gold when promo does eventually kick in.

Posted by: Regina Nov 16 2015, 03:25 PM

OMFG The CD actually came wrapped in the Kylie paper *.*

Also, the artwork is a little different, it has a cute little golden bow added onto it, really cute.

Posted by: Qween Nov 16 2015, 03:25 PM

To be fair, if she does a well timed promo event in the 2/3 weeks leading up to Christmas she may well make the top 10. Something like a BBC/ITV special would do the trick I reckon.

Posted by: liamk97 Nov 16 2015, 03:26 PM

Aw that artwork/packaging is cute.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 16 2015, 03:30 PM

8 Andrea Rieus

11 Jess

13 Ellie

cant watch This Morning yet but Only You just jumped 157 to 117 on ITunes... did they play a snippet? or did it get a play on radio?

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 17 2015, 12:55 PM

Well ITunes Kylie moved up from 25th to 19th and Only You moved up from 179 to 102 so I guess the This Morning Text Santa promo sold a couple of extra copies smile.gif

Posted by: pippa Nov 17 2015, 02:56 PM

Wonderful the interview had some impact. I look forward to the next set of midweek chart information to see how Kylie is holding up.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 17 2015, 03:47 PM

Just watched it.

She looked nice, spoke nicely and album mentioned, duet with J Corden mentioned and 3 different songs played a bit of each

Posted by: Red Blooded Man Nov 17 2015, 04:30 PM

100 Degrees is No.1 on Australian Itunes video from Kylie's facebook page.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 17 2015, 04:37 PM

it number 1 in UK too... but sadly videos are not bought that often compared with songs...... its a good sign though

to be fair I really like the video from the album. and cost nothing to make smile.gif

Posted by: mr_pmt Nov 17 2015, 04:40 PM

Posted by: pippa Nov 17 2015, 10:16 PM

No chance of top 10 now.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 17 2015, 11:06 PM

lets hope it stays top 15.....then top 30-40 next week and rebounds with promo in December

looking at Album releases for 20th and 27th Kylie will do well to stay top 40!!! She needs a single to take off somehow......

Posted by: Red Blooded Man Nov 18 2015, 11:16 AM

One has to ponder why she didn't choose to release the album at the beginning of December...

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 18 2015, 11:50 AM

i would think she wanted to get the album songs out there and pick up streaming numbers ready for her assault in December when Xmas songs will dominate Spotify

She is releasing the Vinyl on 27th Nov so she knows she wants a boost this week which is when she has done some Aussie promo and is on her way back to UK for Xmas promo

13th Nov was RV performance date & Xmas Liberty date so maybe this

To be fair it looks like selling 13-14k at least this week and that would give her a top 3 album some weeks in the past year......

Fingers crossed she really goes all out and hope 100 degrees picks up.... 1 performance with J Corden could also boost that song big time but still lots of people haven't heard it......

Radio Play and TV appearances singing live are vital for any artist and Kylie got neither yet.......

Kylie is #11 in the mids - sold 1.2k yesterday and 13.6k in total (on track for 16k). No sign of 'Only You'.

Posted by: Regina Nov 18 2015, 02:44 PM

Still good opening sales, which is all that matters really.

Posted by: liamk97 Nov 18 2015, 02:49 PM

Yeah definitely, I'm quite satisfied with them. Could potentially get higher sales later in December too.

Posted by: Qween Nov 18 2015, 02:55 PM

Top 15/15k or so is a good result given how early it is in the season for most people. Should see quite small drops, sales wise, at least for the next few weeks and end up with a healthy total. Especially given how poorly Christmas albums do here generally.

Posted by: pippa Nov 18 2015, 02:59 PM

16,000 is respectable, but i had believed, Kylie had enough hardcore fans alone to buy that amount, that would not include any casual buyers. Therefore, it looks like even some of her loyal fans have yet to support this release.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 18 2015, 03:19 PM

Not bad not bad........ She is holding up well on ITunes at 19-25th region...... lots are slipping faster....... so she may stick around. Will have to wait and see week 2 sales could be very low and it could drop A lot while she is in Australia........ will it drop out of top 30 in week 2? probably

She does well from TV promo so we have to wait until beginning of December.

If she had released vinyl at same time I think she could have sold another 1.5k of those and gone top 10 but hey ho she didn't deliberately so that's good

Posted by: mr_pmt Nov 18 2015, 03:49 PM

That's that then, no top 10.

I'm satisfied with 16k.

Who's behind her and likely to overtake at this stage?

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 18 2015, 03:55 PM

Only You dropped to 179th yesterday and now back up to 97th in UK ITunes... just shows what 1 play does on a radio station can do... if only it was sustained

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 18 2015, 03:57 PM

Love how Santa Baby has now had 6,750,000 plays on Spotify in its lifespan.

QUOTE(mr_pmt @ Nov 18 2015, 03:49 PM) *
Who's behind her and likely to overtake at this stage?

The Beatles are #12 and are on track to overtake but, at the rate albums were selling yesterday, no-one else is on track to do so, but that's not baring in mind whether Kylie will slow down further or who may have missing streams etc.

I'd say there was a very high chance of her being Top 15 though.

Posted by: pippa Nov 18 2015, 05:29 PM

Kylie has nothing left to attract sales, also if missing streams are added i fear Kylie falling further. Could Michael Buble chart higher than her this week?

Posted by: mr_pmt Nov 18 2015, 05:40 PM

I think she may have sold more than she ordinarily would yesterday due to her This Morning appearance.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 18 2015, 06:30 PM

So we are looking at 15k for Kylie Christmas first week......

2nd week probably around 3-4k?

Just all depends if people will buy it as Xmas season kicks into full swing.

or will they cherry pick songs?

I am hoping her 100 degrees performance on Australian X-factor will get some UK media interest even if it just on some Showbiz news.....

I don't think streaming sales for albums is that great is it? singles yes but albums? I mean Elvis had sales of approx. 88k last week and streaming points where on 863..... so down where Kylie is I cant see streaming being more than 100-200 sales

Kylie with Only You will have a 2nd week 'C' listed on Radio 2..... A listed are Corrs, Elton, Paul Heaton, Adele etc

Posted by: slowdown73 Nov 18 2015, 08:30 PM

I'm disappointed with the album position on first week but not the actual sales. I hoped this would make top10. I think it will drop quickly next week and will recover slightly over the next few weeks but can't see it selling more than KMO to be honest.

Posted by: pippa Nov 18 2015, 09:07 PM

It at best may match Kiss Me Once total sales which is disappointing as that sold very poorly. Annoyingly, the promotion for the albums appears to be declining on each release and sadly so is the quality. While the current and previous release are enjoyable in parts they are both a long way off what Kylie does best.

Posted by: Acidburn Nov 18 2015, 09:27 PM

I think having "Only You" was a good choice for the lead single, and hopefully it will get a video shot and generate more interest in the album, and also hopefully she might have a video shot for "Santa Baby" for a possible promo release and then it could climb back up the charts. I dunno maybe "OY" might become a surprise hit for her.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 18 2015, 10:07 PM

Its all about what she will promote

for example - Royal Variety on 7th Dec she sings Most Wonderful Time Of Year.....

so I guess she is going to do different songs for each show.....

she had to send 1 song to radio and it was Only You..... that just needs a performance and would sell a lot but as it is people still do not know much about it...

Streaming - I listen to a lot on Spotify but Kylie fans probably just listen to CD on media player or CD player smile.gif ... they could stream most songs and help but they don't.... so she loses out .... for instance Only You has had only 168,000 streams worldwide in 2 weeks......... very low

Posted by: mr_pmt Nov 18 2015, 10:16 PM

I've streamed it a few times. Though it's just a drop in the ocean really.

Posted by: pippa Nov 19 2015, 05:28 PM

I have to agree, the top 10 is more important to Ben Haenow's career than Kylie's and it has to be said Ben's album is by far the superior of the two.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 19 2015, 07:28 PM

Not sure why people are so dismissive of Kylie Christmas

She performs the songs really well. It causes no harm and the new songs are very nice.

Posted by: Regina Nov 19 2015, 07:35 PM

It's not being dismissive, it's preferring another album over this.

She might claw back a little on Ben by tomorrow. I think the last of Ben's HMV Signings was yesterday, so he won't have that to boost his sales for today.
It won't be enough though.
I guess the real question is, will The Beatles leapfrog Kylie & Ben to take the #10 spot??

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 19 2015, 08:14 PM

doubt it... its Thursday....... cant think it will be a busy day........ promo for everyone starts again on Friday!

Posted by: mr_pmt Nov 19 2015, 08:34 PM

I think The Beatles will find it hard to do promo with half of their members deceased.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 19 2015, 09:38 PM

Kylie going for that I'm a Celeb advertisement sales....... Again must have paid a lot for that slot..... 9m viewers for that show.

Posted by: mr_pmt Nov 19 2015, 09:45 PM

Was there an advert for it? Hopefully that can give it a small last minute sales boost.

(I don't know as I don't watch I'm A 'Celeb')

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 19 2015, 10:12 PM

Yep.

But only for the 13 song normal album. Kylie looks very cute but doesn't sing any of the brand new songs just he staple covers and a tiny bit of J Corden song.

albums jumped from 290 to 256 and 31 to 27 on UK iTunes probably an extra 10 album sales smile.gif

Posted by: mr_pmt Nov 19 2015, 10:14 PM

I've seen the advert, it's unfortunate that the worst songs are featured. (pretty much)

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 19 2015, 10:29 PM

Yes.... I think when promo starts they may edit it a little if a song takes off.....

Posted by: Regina Nov 19 2015, 10:34 PM

They are clearly not wanting to spend money on this so i doubt it.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 19 2015, 10:43 PM

Pity they didn't do a video for J Corden Only You like they did with 100 degrees where they are both just messing about in the studio....

the reason why............. they weren't in the studio together..... it was just another Enrique moment where they merged both recordings together from different locations

The Guardian 'review' wouldn't qualify as a review. It doesn't critique the album at all and would almost make you think he hadn't actually listened to the full album

Posted by: pippa Nov 20 2015, 12:12 PM

I would never expect Christmas albums to get very strong reviews. On the whole this style of releases are cover version albums that have been done again and again.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 20 2015, 03:25 PM

Lots of new releases this week and Kylie way down to 36 on UK ITunes

can see her possibly in danger of dropping out of the top 40 this coming week while she is in Australia.

I hardly see any copies of her album in the supermarkets and when she is £13 a copy and Buble is selling for £5 if you want an Xmas album he is going to win

Well a week old album is obviously gonna be more expensive than a 3 odd years old one.

Number 12. That's Ok. Now fingers crossed it can stay top 40 this week. Just need some people to get in Xmas mood.

I am guessing she will be on TFI Friday on 4th Dec?

Hope she does sing a mixture of songs on her TV promo

anyone know the sudden jump from 53 to 39 today on ITunes? Nice to see

if it can hold a decent top 40 spot this week and sell over 5k which it looks like then that is very good

1st week sales in Australia around 3.3k ....digitals sold 1.1k....... the 100 degrees perfmance has given it a boost in Aus and hopefully it will stay top 30 this week there...

now we just need the promo to start....I have watched the Royal Variety performance and its cute. dancers with candy sticks and fluffy fur coats. Kylie sounds good but doesn't exactly bust a gut energy wise, sounds good though.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 25 2015, 04:01 PM

Why am I getting VERY good vibes for this #shouldhavebeenkylie campaign for John Lewis advert.......

MTV UK just tweeted it to its 2m followers.... shortly followed by Metro......

i also heard a rumour that Parlophone rang the video's maker......

I just wonder if something originally behind the scenes or is it just co-inicvidence?

Posted by: Red Blooded Man Nov 26 2015, 02:41 PM

Had a couple of listen on the album, it's alright so far, the highlights are Winter Wonderland, Everyday's like Christmas, White December and 100 Degrees.

Christmas Wrapping is utterly vile.

MTV, Metro, Telegraph all have articles on it already

Only You gone from 352 to 100 on ITunes again.....

Also mention for Kylie Christmas in Sweden...... up to number 9 on Swedish ITunes

Kylie was 30th in yesterdays midweeks lets hope it can stay there until tonight

iTunes are selling the standard at £4.99.

Just purchased it for £3.21 because I already had downloaded S B and LIS!!!

Of course I have the deluxe cd already so this is just so I can play "legally" on my other devices haha.

Standard now rapidly climbing iTunes album chart, now top 100 - hardly huge sales but it all helps.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 27 2015, 12:48 PM

Yep.

She is getting some sales

she is now 45th and 65th on UK ITunes

She needs to get the standard CD in that 2 for £15 HMV promo too

Fingers crossed she gets back from OZ asap and starts her promo.

The vinyl also out today so hoping that will add a few hundred sales to her 3rd week total.....

Posted by: Regina Nov 27 2015, 12:50 PM

Kylie Christmas Deluxe currently #48 in Amazon's chart. The standard is #258. Vinyl #1644. kink.gif

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 27 2015, 04:49 PM

Vinyl is 15.99 on her website wrapped in Xmas wrapping paper and sold out, but new stock in now. Amazon is 18.99 hence it not selling

She is selling OK on Amazon and lots of weird things happen in those charts ie 99p downloads make the album top sellers etc. and lots of Various.....

She is 49 and 52 on UK ITunes... take away all the EPs, double versions, various artists and she is 31 and 33rd so I am hopeful she can have a third week top 40 again this coming week and sell around 5k before promo starts in week 4.

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 27 2015, 05:43 PM

To be fair the albums are 45 and 49 now on ITunes and with over 25 new releases today I would say she is doing very well.

Kylie Christmas is officially number 31 this week in UK chart

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 27 2015, 08:16 PM

No!

this week she is already doing ok..... the 4.99 ITunes album gone from 200 to 36 on ITunes but this only a 1 day offer.... delux is 46 so holding up well

Vinyl release sales also today so that should add a couple of hundred of sales

She announced a Spotify competition and an Amazon competition today also.

She will be back in UK this week so hopefully some more radio promo.

Think it will finish top 30 this week in next Fridays chart

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 27 2015, 08:22 PM

Maroon 5 sold 5.6k at 35, T Chapman sold 7.2k at 30...... so Kylie about 6.9k me thinks..... that's not bad again.....

total UK sales over 22k in 2 weeks. Still 4 weeks of Xmas to go.

The good news is............. she is on TFI Friday next week 4th Dec

Posted by: florenceminogue Nov 27 2015, 10:58 PM

The vinyl sales should help a lttle bit this week but not a massive amount.

The Amazon deal will give a slight boost but it's not a very visible on the site - nor is it as big an offer as a lot of the other albums.

One big problem could be that it needs to be charting on the instore Supermarket charts again ASAP - so that it'll draw the casual buyers that this type of release is relying on.
Hope there is some sort of boost to get it there sooner rather than later

Posted by: SmileyKylie Nov 27 2015, 11:04 PM

I have been to supermarkets and can hardly find.... even a HMV I went to I struggled

I'm wondering has the #shouldhavebeenkylie campaign for it to replace Aurora in the John Lewis ad become a possibility?

Moreso because (from what we are led to believe) Kylie has filmed a video for her 'proper' Christmas single which is surely going to arrive over the course of the next week & I would hope it's a better contender for chart action than 'Only You'

Gonna be interesting to see what unfolds.
