Fascinating reading all of this - couple of pointers though:

The chart entry date for "Two In A Million / You're My Number One" appears to be 2001 rather than December 1999 as it should be?

Do Upper Street, the short lived MTV boyband that Bradley was a member of in 2006, not count towards this thread? (They had the one single, admittedly, but still!)

Thanks for the correction, I've changed the date! No doubt just a copy and past failure when I typed this up a while back.

I mentioned Upper Street in post 1, I decided not to count them as it'd also open the door to The Saturdays as well as Paul's other band and I had to draw the line somewhere! kink.gif So solo music I've included but not music the members have made as part of other groups.

There isn’t but I wonder if anyone would be up for the challenge to create one? ohmy.gif

I'd be really interested to see where they charted abroad, apart from the USA #10 for NHADCT I am not aware of any others.

A lot of the international peaks are on Wiki but I wouldn't be any good with sales information or chart runs!

Thank you for posting! wub.gif

Those were huge sales at Christmas time for Two in a Million/You're My Number One! Thankfully it was able to get a much better peak of #2 in the new year.

Natural was sadly a bit of a dip for them. Interesting to see that You did quite a bit better than it as a post-album single - with its second week sales coming rather close to Natural's first week!

26.5k for Alive as a lead single was such a comedown for them. cry.gif Every S Club Juniors single in 2002 did better than that - One Step Closer: 84,383 / Automatic High: 51,000 / New Direction: 38,000 / Puppy Love: 29,000. 2003's dwindling sales saw S Club 8 singles have worse first weeks though. Fool No More: 19,000 / Sundown: 24,000.

Thanks for posting that Nina!

Looking at that, was Natural the wrong choice as second single?

I think Bring the House Down would've been a safer choice but I'm glad they went with Natural, it's much more in line with the vibe of '7' than Reach is so it made sense to have a single that represented the album better!

Thanks for posting those Nina West, they're really interesting! Insane at how huge those first four singles were from the get go (and Two in a Million / You're My Number One having a bigger opening than S Club Party ohmy.gif )

Natural having that huge dip is a surprise as its a very good song!!

Id live to know what songs prevented all the number 2’s hitting the top!

I know it feels so good stopped reach!

'S Club Party' was #2 for two weeks, and in both weeks it was held off by Eiffel 65 - Blue (Da Ba Dee).

Westlife's 'I Have a Dream'/'Seasons in the Sun' stayed at #1 in its third week when 'Two in a Million'/'You're My Number One' climbed to #2, also in its third week!

As you mentioned, Sonique - 'It Feels So Good' kept 'Reach' off the top spot for 3 weeks in a row. cry.gif

'You' couldn't remove Enrique Iglesias - 'Hero' from the top spot despite it being its fourth week at the top!

The same happened to 'Say Goodbye'/'Love Ain't Gonna Wait for You', unable to replace R. Kelly - 'Ignition Remix' at #1 despite that being its fourth week at #1. (I honestly prefer every song that 'Ignition Remix' kept off #1: Big Brovaz - 'Favourite Things', Girls Aloud - 'No Good Advice', Justin Timberlake - 'Rock Your Body' and of course S Club. Official Charts to retroactively strip R. Kelly of his chart history and make all of those singles #1s instead, please xox

The singles that didn't make the Top 2:

'Natural' at #3 (#1: Modjo - 'Lady (Hear Me Tonight)' [2nd week at #1] / #2: Kylie Minogue - On a Night Like This [new entry])

'Alive' at #5 (#1: Christina Aguilera - 'Dirrty' [2nd week at #1] / #2: Will Young - 'Don't Let Me Down'/'You and I' [new entry] / #3: Jennifer Lopez - Jenny from the Block [new entry] / #4: Nelly feat. Kelly Rowland - 'Dilemma' [6th week in the chart])

S Club 7 #1s:

'Bring It All Back': Madonna - 'Beautiful Stranger' new in at #2!

'Never Had a Dream Come True': #2 and #3 in the charts that week were former #1 singles (Destiny's Child - 'Independent Women' and LeAnn Rimes - 'Can't Fight the Moonlight') however new in at #4... Madonna - 'Don't Tell Me'!

'Don't Stop Movin': The second occasion that S Club 7 knocked Destiny's Child off the top, this time with 'Survivor'. The second highest new entry was only at #6 (Depeche Mode - 'Dream On'). Geri Halliwell - 'It's Raining Men' was then #1 for 2 weeks, before S Club 7 reclaimed #1 in its fourth week!

'Have You Ever': Blue - 'If You Come Back' was #1 a week earlier and fell to #2. Riva/Dannii Minogue - 'Who Do You Love Now (Stringer)' the next highest new entry at #3. (The Top 3 all having 'You' in their titles!)

I think the reason why Natural didn't do so well was because 7 had already came out by then so people might have picked buying the album rather than buying a single.
