How Long Will I Love You and Move are both utterly fabulous tracks, both deserving of the top spot
My fave still in the running, hope it wins! |

2. I REALLY LIKE YOU- Carly Rae Jepsen (85,840) #3
No 1 in 22 weeks in 2015 If released just a fortnight later this would have become Jepsen’s second chart topper but it ran into Wiz Khalifa and Omi at their height so third place it was. Some were none too enamored with the rather “basic” lyrics in the chorus but in terms of earworm it certainly worked. |

1.LIVE WHILE WE’RE YOUNG- One Direction (87,008) #3
No 1 in 23 weeks in 2012 The Unluckiest record of the decade so far? Released as a first single from their second album “Take Me Home” there was so much pent up demand that the track took an early lead in the charts but had slipped to No 3 by Sunday. Facing criticism for the song’s theme (something to do with sex apparently) and it’s similarity to “Should I Stay Or Should I Go” didn’t appear to hamper sales, it also opened with the second biggest debut week sales by a UK artist on the US chart (after Elton’s “Candle In The Wind 97”). |

Well I suppose it's fitting that the "unluckiest" goes to a song that would have been a poor #1. 1D was always hit and miss for me and I'm glad Live While We're Young and Gotta Be You were both misses. Amazing to see any song get 80k+ at #3 though, and to think these weren't that long ago!!
Thanks as always for your heroic efforts Gezza. Looking forward to the next countdown, and I hope it's sooner rather than later! |
