I think Brighton getting rid of Cariff was the right call. He's done a great job, but let's be honest if VAR was implemented in this season they'd have been relegated. Graham Potter seems a strange choice as he's not pulled up strings at Swansea, but I also don't know how well he has been backed. Certianly he has a philosophy and he knows how he wants his team to play football. With Hughton still there I'd have put them as certs to be relegated next year.
I also think Benitez will leave Newcastle. |

Oh Potter is fantastic.
If Brighton's plan is to replace Hughton with a coach who will get more out of their expensive technical players then Graham Potter makes a lot of sense, he's a brilliant coach and had a fantastic season at Swansea who sold anyone worth any money and gave him virtually nothing to spend, started the season with one senior centre half in the squad. Second youngest side in the division this season, play fantastic football and he's really bought on a lot of academy players. If he gets a bit of backing this summer I think they've got an excellent chance of promotion if he stays, it's certainly a bet I'd be making. |

The last manager to finish 17th and not be sacked by the end of the following season was Roy Hodgson at Fulham. I think if Brighton didn't do it now, they'd be doing it some point before Bonfire Night, which would be much worse and more risky.

While I agree in the most sense, my point esentially was that Brighton in the end were really lucky to stay up. Cardiff could have quite easily survived had they had some luck in their latter games. I think the sacking is the right call. I didn't know that RFC - interesting. I knew Swansea sold their better players last summer, but he's a coach I've always looked out for since he became famous as he played for my team back in the day. I also think it's a fantastic story of a British coach really stepping out of their comfort zone. |

Yeh Potter has done well with the resources he has, if he stays at Swansea he could challenge for promotion next season - similar to Farke who finished 9th last year with Norwich and are now promoted as champions, will be interesting to see who Brighton go for!

Manchester City have been criticised over a video that appears to show players and staff joining in a song that celebrates Liverpool fans being "battered in the street".
The video is thought to have been captured on an aircraft as the club's travelling party returned from a 4-1 Premier League win at Brighton. That victory saw the Blues beat Liverpool to the title by one point. It is unclear which players and staff - if any - are joining in the singing. |

Does nothing to further my claim that everyone is obsessed with Liverpool. Imagine winning the Premier League and turning to sing a song about another team. It must be lifeless to be City fan lol. |

Kick It Out have "unreservedly apologised" to Brighton after comments made by its Head of Development Troy Townsend over the dismissal of Chris Hughton.
Hughton was sacked by Brighton on Monday after securing them a 17th-placed finish in the Premier League. Townsend then criticised the decision in a Daily Telegraph interview. Kick It Out said it apologised "for the impact the comments have had on the club's reputation". The anti-racism body added in a statement it was also sorry for any inference from Townsend's comments that Hughton's sacking was "linked in any way to his ethnicity". |

Rafael Benitez is holding sit-down talks with Newcastle in London today as they attempt to come to agreement on a new contract.
The Spaniard’s current deal ends on June 30, and there is willing on both sides to reach an agreement. It’s likely that talks between both parties will continue into tomorrow. |
