There's theories going round that 'The American' is actually Barb and that her body in the Upside Down back in season 1 was fake, like the one they pulled out the water for Will

It's been out for over 2 weeks so SPOILERS ARE ALLOWED
This was my favourite season I think, or at least definitely back on par with the first season! I loved that something was happening every single episode whereas I felt the previous season was a lot slower, and particularly wasn't helped by Eleven being apart for most of the series. This is probably why I liked this season more too as everyone felt involved (even poor Will managing to last the full season) and there's such a wealth of great characters there. It is a bit unfortunate though that the initial four boys friendship has never really had that much screentime together aside from the first episodes of each season. The Steve/Robin/Dustin/Erica storyline was probably my favourite and the most interesting (and funny!, Erica is brilliant nerd) but the threat of the monster was great. I would still kind of want to explore more of the actual Upside Down though and what it truly exactly is but I guess that may be more for the actual final season. I love that each season of this show feels like it's own separate story, with a start and end but also doesn't feel like it is returning for another season just for the sake of it. They're able to naturally create a new story so effectively which feels like such an achievement when compared to certain other shows and their diminishing returns, which feel like they're forcing out a story just for the sake of it. I guess the writers are also actually allowed time to develop each season without rushing them out. Such a great show, the characters are all so special, a perfect mix of adventure/threat/horror/humour/nostalgia/references/drama <3 |

Barb is clearly immortal so that would make a lot of sense

It reminds me a lot of the 80s in the way it's made ( and yes I know it's based on the 80s) even the soundtrack and the opening credits!

I've not given my thoughts yet but I finished season 3 about 2 weeks ago and I can comfortably say this is the season I've enjoyed the most. Season 1 took a few episodes to really get going for me (though I expect I'd enjoy it more on a rewatch) and season 2 notably had the clunker Eleven episode. Season 3 felt natural and was consistent throughout, and most characters proved their worth (though in a big cast, some did feel left out).
Scoops Ahoy were easily the best plot strand. Steve's progression from season 1 is much welcomed and he and Robyn make for such a natural, brilliant pairing, as do he and Dustin of course as we learnt in season 2 so I was pleased to see that built on. Robyn coming out to Steve was a fantastically touching moment, and it made for a great twist on what her and Steve's relationship ended up being - for the better. Moving Steve away from Nancy and Jonathan was the right decision for all characters. Erica remained iconic - "you can't spell America without Erica" is the best line in ALL THREE SEASONS. I stan so much. Speaking of Nancy and Jonathan, their strand was an interesting look into the sexism around at that time and I definitely felt for Nancy. Jonathan felt more like a spare part to keep Nancy company, he didn't have much to do of his own accord this time around, though I suppose with a cast so big it's hard to give every single person the spotlight. It would've been nicer if he had a "moment" though, because you could take him out and very little would change in season 3. There was definitely an underuse of both Lucas and Will too. I guess Lucas had his moments nearer the start when Max and Eleven ganged up against him and Mike, but he felt a little sidelined. Will less so, he seemed more like a plot device at times to know when the Mind Flayer was around but I liked the exploration of how he wasn't quite as developed as the others, partly due to his time in the Upside Down. I'm hoping we can see him blossom more in season 3! I rooted a bit less for Mike this season because he did act like a tool at moments and was a bit too possessive over El, though I enjoyed it from her POV because she gained some independence. El and Max are a fantastic pairing, and Max really shone in those scenes in particular. I enjoyed seeing a less frantic/crazed Joyce this season without the massive worry of her son looming over her. The comedy between her and Hopper was well played, especially with Alexei and Bauman thrown in. Hopper was hilarious throughout, though I didn't like how he spoke to Mike (even if that's what a stereotypical father is supposed to be like towards his daughter's boyfriend). I'm pretty convinced he's not dead, though I wonder if "the American" is too obvious to be him? I feel like the Duffers are more calculated than basically handing it to us on a plate. The redemption arc for Billy was mostly well done and Dacre did a superb job portraying the villainous Billy, though I'm not sure I'll miss him a great deal in season 4 - I'm more intrigued to see the impact on Max. The Mind Flayer was a brilliantly grotesque looking creature and I loved seeing it build up, though I definitely would've liked to see the army made use of before they dissolved into the bigger creature! The mall set was BRILLIANT too and I loved how colourful it felt this time round. Now I just need to track down a sailor outfit Steve funko pop |

I think this is my favourite season so far!
Erica is a fave for life. A queen! The relationships were beautifully developed and Steve and Robin in particular was something else. What a beautiful show :'( I think "the American" is Hopper! Did we actually see what happened to him? Could he have been captured by the Russians? Either way: bring on ST4!!!!! |

I’ve watched all 3 seasons in just over a week and the third was by far the best. Loved the Scoops Ahoy gang the most, especially Erica.
Cannot wait for season 4. |
