The positions for these are official right? Following from my post in the certifications thread it's odd that the CoComelon album doesn't appear here, I'm guessing it must have had units that were counting towards its certification but not to the weekly or YTD charts up until about a month ago for some reason?

Following from my post in the certifications thread it's odd that the CoComelon album doesn't appear here, I'm guessing it must have had units that were counting towards its certification but not to the weekly or YTD charts up until about a month ago for some reason? The album was released in April 2021 and went silver in June 2023, so it seems plausible that it was over 80k by the end of 2023, and that in 2024 it hasn’t as it stands sold the 21k required for the YTD Top 100, and hadn’t done the 1.7k required for the weekly Top 100 in any week until recently? Ah, I didn't realise it came out that long ago, I guess that would make sense then if it had just previously been racking up sales without appearing in the chart. I find it hard to believe its sudden appearance in the chart was due to a genuine increase in consumption though, I think it must have just not had its numbers calculated correctly before that for some reason. I remember that happened with 'Baby Shark' too, its YouTube views didn't count to its chart sales for a few weeks.

Yeah the spike is strange unless the tracks have been used in a children’s TV series or something, but no individual track is doing enough to feature in the singles chart. An error seems more likely - in that case they can’t have retrospectively fixed the total sales as they sometimes do or it would be in the YTD.

It’ll be the biggest album of the year surely.
Wouldn’t be suprised if the weekend’s highlights begin to do more each week by July time but it won’t be able to catch up from the strong first two weeks of sales imo. Guess it’s only fair after Midnights was robbed of the 2023 feat due to compilation/hits albums getting ‘sales’ through Spotify playlists rather than it actually being a new album / people are listening to the body of work This post has been edited by BellyClarkson: 25th April 2024, 04:10 PM |
