SoSo makes Syndare's BJSC debut a top ten smash!

The magnificent final ceremony of BJSC XLI is over in Greenfroze, and Syndare's contest debut with SoSo and her dramatic 'Who's Gonna Love Me' has been announced as the ninth-place finisher - a fantastic result for a debuting country! Odds from across the globe had the Syndarian public buzzing with the possibility of a top five finish, but SoSo never let the pressure get to her and delivered a flawless performance that received solid support from many nations. The track has racked up three non-consecutive weeks at the top of the Syndarian weekly chart, selling over 1 million copies in just 9 weeks.

Speaking in the Nocturne Concert Hall after the results, Head of State Davide Furlong, who flew in specially to witness Syndare's initiation into the contest, spoke of his delight. "It's been a long wait for the Syndarian people to take part in this historic contest, and I'm glad to say SoSo has done every one of them proud tonight. A top ten finish on a country's debut is a very distinguished achievement and she should be very proud of herself. Many congratulations to Fljótavík on their deserved win, and many thanks to the Greenfroze organisers for putting on such a flawless show." When asked about the next contest, Davide refused to comment, but eventually relented to reveal that "we do have a song in mind for the next contest. I can't say any more because nothing's confirmed yet. But we promise it'll be another strong contender!"

Butterfly Boucher gets her wings as Syndare's sophomore entrant!

Fljótavík unveiled the competitors for BJSC XLII last night and Syndare's much anticipated sophomore entrant was revealed as none other than Butterfly Boucher! With her rousing track 'Not Fooling Around', Butterfly is hoping to follow SoSo's success and land Syndare a second top ten success in BJSC. The track has already been in the Syndarian top ten for four weeks, so far reaching a peak of #2 - an incredibly strong success story against the rash of hits from Melodifestivalen!

Syndare qualify in BJSC XLII!

The nation were on the edge of their seats earlier tonight as Fljótavík announced the results of the BJSC XLII semi finals. Thankfully, they weren't put through too much agony as Butterfly Boucher's qualification was announced midway through the evening, leading to SNN's impromptu schedule change to include a repeat of Butterfly's televised concert from two years ago. The broadcast received twice the amount of viewers as it had on original broadcast. When finally reached for comment, Boucher could only scream in delight and almost incapacitate the interviewer with the strength of her celebratory hug.

Initial estimates put SST's broadcast of the semi-final results at a massive 65% audience share - an unprecedented figure for the speciality network. Projections for SSN's broadcast of the final are currently over 80%. The SSSB has already mobilized plans to broadcast the show in several public outdoor spaces.

Butterfly Boucher breaks the top five for Syndare!

An astoundingly tense evening of voting came to a close earlier and Syndarian entrant Butterfly Boucher was beside herself with tears of joy as she finished in an unexpected fifth place! Odds across the Buzzjack world had suggested 'Not Fooling Around' would slid unnoticed into the middle of the table, so it was with breathless excitement that the nation watched as Boucher fluttered around the top ten for the entire evening, finally finishing just one point behind contest heavyweights Numayania. Botanikka's Emma Hewitt won the night with the gorgeous 'Colours', which received an impressed three points from the Syndarian televote. Boucher's final total of 127 was a solid advance on Soso's total of 97 in the previous event, and so the country marches forward into the next contest looking positively towards an even stronger result in BJSC XLIII.

Laura Welsh will haunt the competition at BJSC XLIII!

It was announced tonight that Syndare's third entrant would be another female singer going it alone. After much heated deliberation within the SSSB over several strong possibilities, a late audition from Britain's Laura Welsh blew any other questions away. 'Ghosts' was immediately offered the chance to compete in the 43rd Buzzjack Song Contest, and Welsh took less than five seconds to excitedly accept. Leaked reports from the audition led to the track charting at #4 in the national chart after just four days of sales, promising big things from Laura Welsh when she takes to the stage in Botanikka next week.

Details of the other songs considered as this month's entry can be found in the first post.

Laura Welsh brings home Syndare's first podium finish!

A brisk but tense ceremony unfolded in Botanikka tonight, and by its end, Laura Welsh had secured Syndare's best finish yet. Her third place, behind the tied entrants from Numayania and Elëdan (Numayania's Dragonette won the tie-break thanks to support from two more nations), had the nation enraptured as she led the leaderboard on more than one occasion. The medal proved slightly bittersweet when the semi final results revealed that the nation would have been projected as overall winners - but the third place finish was nevertheless declared "a brilliant triumph" by a spokesperson for President Davide Furlong. Welsh herself was unable for comment, but a member of the convoy was quoted as saying the singer was "overwhelmed". The track, 'Ghosts', has spent four weeks inside the national chart's top five and has sold over 80,000 copies in just one month.

Eyes now turn to preparations for next month's contest, where the pressure will be on the as-yet-undecided entrant to continue Syndare's rising fortunes in the contest.

First place becomes a glass slipper as Bluebell head to BJSC XLIV!

An agonising week of deliberation was put to rest tonight as the entrants for BJSC XLIV were unveiled and British duo Bluebell were revealed as Syndare's fourth entrant. The pair saw off fierce competition from Thomas Azier and Rose Cousins for the chance to compete in the 44th edition of the historic song contest, which is taking place in one of the Buzzjack world's most storied countries, Numayania. With 'Cinderella', a buoyant riposte to fairytale fantasies, Bluebell will be hoping to better the success of previous entrant Laura Welsh, the first Syndarian to bring the country home a podium finish. The track has already entered the nation's top ten during the busiest sales period of the year.

Details of the other songs considered as this month's entry can be found in the first post.

Midnight strikes and Bluebell come home in tatters...

Tragedy struck last night as the semi final results for BJSC XLIV were revealed in Numayania and Bluebell narrowly missed out on a fourth straight qualification for Syndare. Tensions had been high all week as odds across the Buzzjack world had promised mixed things for the nation, and so it was that Bluebell ended up a mere three points from qualifying. After last month's terse decision period, the SSSB hopes that this month's auditions will provide something as immediately stunning as former entrant Laura Welsh and return the country to top ten glory.

Audience projections for this month's BJSC final are a mere fifth of the record-breaking viewing figures recorded for Welsh's podium finish last month.

Shame you got a DNQ with such a good song (and given the DRECK that got through). Oh well, 'it will be okay'.

Bebe Black sends out a deathwish to all other nations as she hopes for Syndarian glory

A complicated month of auditions and deliberations came to a close tonight as the contestants for BJSC XLV were unveiled in Elëdan and Bebe Black stepped forward as Syndare's fifth entrant. A behind-the-scenes scandal involving an unnamed contestant overwhelmed several nations as the potential entrant auditioned for all of them and received a permanent ban from the contest when her machinations were uncovered. Days later, Bebe Black stepped into the SSSB's auditions rooms and blew the panel away with an acapella performance of 'Deathwish'. Combining gospel-like lyrics and vocals with powerful keyboard production, 'Deathwish' seems a strong candidate to return Syndare to the contest's top ten after last month's narrow failure in the semi finals.

Details of the other songs considered as this month's entry can be found in the first post.

Funny you should mention one of my favourite BJSC discoveries! laugh.gif And well, I'm not sure there's really any nice puns to be made out of 'Deathwish', is there?

Syndare trusts in duo Sin Cos Tan for BJSC's landmark fiftieth contest

It was a tough few weeks as the SSSB looked out for a suitably inspired choice to celebrate the fiftieth edition of BJSC. Several jury members fell under the spell of the hypnotic audition by Juho Paalosmaa and Jori Hulkkonen, the Finnish duo who have recently formed a new collaboration under the name of Sin Cos Tan. The ethereal synths of 'Trust' easily won the final vote and Sin Cos Tan happily accepted the honour of heading to Mílanó to compete against forty-seven other nations. After a tough few months in the contest, a return to the finals recently has seen hopes in the nation rise again, and hopes are high that this daring choice can put Syndare back on the map.

SSSB announces 'Best of' Collection in celebration of TBO V!

Echoing similar releases across the Buzzjack world, the SSSB has announced the release of a 'Best of' compilation in celebration of the upcoming TBO V, and a year of BJSC. The collection, decided by an online poll voted for by more than 10,000 members of the Syndarian public, features highlights from 2012's BJSC competitions. Three of Syndare's own entries made the two-disc compilation, including the success story of the country's first year in the competition, Laura Welsh's third-placed 'Ghosts'. Bluebell's 'Cinderella', which failed to make the final of XLIV, was bolstered by sales of the track in #00247E. Persephonia's 'Keep You', by Wild Belle, also scored enough votes despite its failure to make XLVI's final. January's winner 'Youth' and November's champion 'Indigo' bookend the compilation, which also includes winners from Aeroche and Ingermanlandia.

The compilation is on sale now for just €6.50 from SyTunes and all good record stores across the Buzzjack world. The full tracklisting can be found below.
