BuzzJack Music Forum _ Pop _ Miley Cyrus - Younger Now // 4th album

Posted by: Jonjo 29th June 2017, 03:24 PM

Sorry if there's already thread (I genuinely couldn't see one!!)

But 'Down For It' is amazing. *_*

It's very 'Bangerz' era! wub.gif

(This is the part where you guys tell me it was recorded for that album and it didn't make the cut laugh.gif)

But yeah. We'll use this as the album thread anyway!

Posted by: WallIsSoGood 8th August 2017, 02:10 AM

It's looking likely that Miley will be debuting single two at the VMA.

Called Younger Now and coming out on September 29th!

Didn't expect it to be that soon <3

Posted by: Cremey 8th August 2017, 01:50 PM

Ah, glad we don't have long to wait!

Posted by: Davidson 8th August 2017, 02:36 PM

Bit of a meh title for an album I have to say. Excited to hear what she has come up with none the less.

Posted by: WallIsSoGood 8th August 2017, 02:43 PM

Apparently it was moved to 29th September so it's eligible to receive a Grammy nomination (29th September is the last date) She's going up against Shania Twain, which will be an interesting chart battle!

Posted by: Cucumberella 8th August 2017, 11:24 PM

love the title!

With the Dolly collab and the country vibe this is giving off, I'm drawing parallels with Rainbow!

Posted by: Jack 19th August 2017, 09:35 AM

That artwork is stunning wub.gif

Posted by: THEO. 15th September 2017, 10:59 AM

She's about to perform "Younger Now", "Malibu", "See You Again"
(Country version), "Party in the USA" and a cover of "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" on Live Lounge.

Posted by: leewallace 15th September 2017, 11:15 AM

Pretending the bangerz era didn't happen then!

Posted by: HarryEzra 15th September 2017, 11:29 AM

I just watched her LL and I always forgot how stunning her voice is laugh.gif

Posted by: MoistSummerFruit 15th September 2017, 11:38 AM

Younger Now is AMAZING - VERY Britpop meets 1990s Spice

It's real, non-trend-chasin music

Posted by: White Mustang 15th September 2017, 12:12 PM

Yeah, wow - she sounded amazing.

Not really - she performed at least one of her #1s in the Live Lounge in 2013 (I can't remember which) - I'd rather hear a song I'd forgotten about like "See You Again".

It was a great set! Her speaking voice really irritated me though. I'd love for "Younger Now" to smash, it's so much better than "Malibu" sad.gif

I'm not sure where this will peak in the UK - she may have enough fans to go top 10 in release week but I don't think it'll stick around long.

Can't Be Tamed-esque then?

(Still by far her best album, don't care what anyone says)

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE 16th September 2017, 06:29 AM

Yeah... she hasnt acknowledged SYA since 2011. Nice to have her acknowledge one of her bests.

Posted by: leewallace 16th September 2017, 05:01 PM

I can see this peaking at around #6, I'm very disappointed with the way 'Younger Now' has performed worldwide but it's been added into no Spotify playlists, 'Malibu' is still top 100 on iTunes but the biggest battle will be between Demi and Miley, it honestly could go either way.

UK iTunes
46. Younger Now
77. Malibu
256. Party In The USA
280. See You Again
359. Malibu
370. The Climb wub.gif
388. Wrecking Ball
565. Party In The USA
1112. We Can't Stop
1422. Malibu

Out today

Posted by: Davidson 22nd September 2017, 12:02 AM

Really enjoying 'Week Without You' too.

This is going to be by far and away my favourite Miley record, I can tell already.

Posted by: Josh! 22nd September 2017, 01:37 PM

New country style Miley sounds SO fresh in today's music climate and her vocals & personality completely pull it off! "Week Without You" is yet another lovely track and I'm absolutely hooked on "Younger Now" at the moment too. This album promises to be really amazing if these tracks are representative of the whole thing wub.gif

Posted by: UltraReputation 24th September 2017, 05:57 PM

Week Without You is fab <3

Posted by: THEO. 26th September 2017, 11:28 PM

The clips for the songs that we haven't heard in full sound absolutely awful, "Rainbowland" possibly being the worst yet. This is going to absolutely bomb in the charts and deservedly so. It's worse than Dead Petz laugh.gif

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE 28th September 2017, 08:40 PM

This is a cute album...

Posted by: Josh! 30th September 2017, 03:11 PM

Enjoying this album a lot so far, the new country sound definitely suits her! A bit of a shame they released the best four tracks on the entire album as singles (or promo singles), so nothing quite comes close to them in terms of quality, but "Thinkin'" definitely comes close and would make a great future single if she decides to push anything else.

It's been hard to see this album struggle commercially because I think she sounds so comfortable on these kind of tracks. Personally, I've loved country Miley, trashy pop Miley, teenage pop/rock Miley etc. so I am VERY excited to see what she does next heart.gif

Posted by: Martyn 30th September 2017, 04:35 PM

My problem is this is another dramatic shift in sound between albums, and once again this is the real her and how dare you question or think otherwise.

Posted by: Jonjo 30th September 2017, 06:29 PM

Really impressed with this album. It's so HER! I don't think this album will do too badly in the first week tbh. Killers, Shania, Foos, Wolf Alice and poss Ed and Rag will be above her, but I don't think that's bad at all to say she's only had a decent sized hit from the album to lead with.

'Thinkin'' is my fave. So good. I love how "real" and natural this sounds for her.

Posted by: cqmerqn 30th September 2017, 06:32 PM

Eek at predictions.

Predicted to sell 50k with SPS in america!

Demi is 78k

Shania Twain 124k

So should debut at 3

Posted by: Jonjo 30th September 2017, 06:33 PM

Oh and I forgot Michael too. He'll be above her. But honestly, over here I will be surprised if Demi beats her.

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE 30th September 2017, 07:17 PM

I’m shocked Demi’s doing better TBH. I know SNS is on the radio, but I didn’t think she had such consecutive fans.

Nah, Michael is only headed for 15K!

She performed the National Anthem at the boxing match in August which was huge for her, plus she's had a much bigger hit than Miley (but obviously Miley doesn't care about hits this era smile.gif )

Or did you mean UK (in which case ignore this lmao 🙃)

I disagree. All her albums have a grain of CountryISMs about them... “I get so scared” from her previous album, “4x4” etc

Posted by: UltraReputation 1st October 2017, 12:02 AM

This is really disappointing sad.gif It just feels 90% of the album blends into one and it's all just nice background music that you never really have any motivation to go back to again sad.gif Hopefully its an album that grows as I've been rly hyped for this!

Malibu, Week Without You & Bad Mood are my highlights!

Posted by: Spiceboy 1st October 2017, 10:45 PM

Miley is higher than Shania, Demi The killers and Michael on itunes in the UK.

She is at #3 (#2 if you don't count the NOW compilation album which is at #1 - they don't count towards UK album charts) with Wolfe Alice in front of her.

New predictions are in the United States, Demi is predicted 65k which is 13k lower than originally expected and Miley is expected to debut with 45-50k which is incredibly poor. I never expected 'Younger Now' to smash considering how badly 'Younger Now' performed as a single but I still thought Miley was a big enough name to at least go top two in the United States and top five in the UK. She's now expected to debut at #4 in the US with A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie predicted to sell around 55k. I'm now guessing Miley will end up at #5 considering Tom Petty has unfortunate passed away. I'm praying her promotion everynight on Jimmy Kimmel is enough to help her sell as close to Demi as possible but it's looking likely this album will struggle to sell much overall worldwide.

Posted by: Liаm 3rd October 2017, 11:36 AM

Omg that The Climb perf was SO good, nice to see her acknowledge it again, after 7 years twice in a week *.*

I just don't have the interest in this album, it's odd because for so long I was like "imagine if Miley did an album like this, it would slay" referring to the backyard sessions, I do think that her voice suits this best and Malibu was a tune but now it's here I just don't have the hype for this album. I'll probably listen Thursday when I have a day off.

Posted by: jjake 3rd October 2017, 11:39 AM

a pile of dry boring bollocks...it reminds me of gaga, following up good music with lightweight nothing because you get caught up in yourself and beyond self interested...nobody wants this

Posted by: Brokarucci 3rd October 2017, 07:04 PM

Seems like Miley totally reset herself. I've got a good feeling for that!

Posted by: THEO. 4th October 2017, 12:11 AM

OMG at "Bodak Yellow" *.* 😍

Posted by: cqmerqn 9th October 2017, 11:05 AM

Debuts at 5 in the US, selling 45k.

Posted by: THEO. 10th October 2017, 05:04 PM

She's starring on Carpool Karaoke tonight.

Posted by: leewallace 10th October 2017, 09:45 PM

Oh brilliant bit of promo!

Surprised how much this hasn’t been hyped up!

Posted by: Jonjo 11th October 2017, 12:32 AM

I think the novelty of Carpool Karaoke has gone completely, more so now that they've jumped the shark completely and done a series surrounding it. Barely any songs impact much anymore and they don't get the views they once did. sad.gif

It really should've just been a once every few months thing.

Posted by: leewallace 11th October 2017, 01:33 AM

The series was only on Apple Music though and they didn’t do their own songs!

I don’t think James Cordan has done one in a while

Posted by: Juliano 11th October 2017, 10:56 AM

Need that version of Bodak Yellow tbh.

Posted by: THEO. 7th November 2017, 08:11 PM

I think I've only listened to this album in full once or twice but I just watched her performances from SNL and "Bad Mood" sounds much better than I remembered. "I Would Die for You" is alright too but neither of them would make a good single; if they do go for one, it should be "Week without You".

The album is already out of the UK top 100 albums (8-28-58-x chart run) and is #175 currently in the US (5-36-79-133-175 chart run) which is really inexcusable - she's literally appeared on every programme going in the US including a full week of appearances on Fallon and she's on The Voice twice a week. She's only had two performances (I think) in the UK but as the follow-up to such a huge album, it should have sold itself a lot more than it has done.

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE 7th November 2017, 08:17 PM

Their literally the two worst singles on the album imo. ‘Week without you’ should be a single but I think she’s said the era is finished now.
