BuzzJack Music Forum _ Forum News and Help _ Removing forums

Posted by: Dannyboy 10th July 2016, 05:35 PM

Some of may know me, some don't, I have been gone a whoile but now back full time. Just been looking around buzzjack and I'm amazed at how many forums and sub forums are still here, some of them have hardly any activity in 3-6 months.

Are there plans to remove them ?

Surely doing that would mean that more of the genre forums would become busier with multiple topics and conversations.

Sorry if this has already been asked or addressed

Also the "teams" sub forums in he lounge are still there from 2014, are we not due a spring clean of buzzjack overall ?

Some artist forums really need to go, it was discussed months ago and generally agreed that some weren't needed but the admin is currently putting all his work into the new site so that won't happen for a while.

Yeah I heard about this new site, didn't know that was happening, when is it aimed for ?

I think get rid of all sub forums and jut make the genre forums busier and more mix for debates

there's currently no date set for the new site, it's been a work in progress for the past few years anyway so it could still be a while.

Few years ? Bloody hell ha ha

Obviously it's up to the powers that be but personally I think if the forums and site overall was condensed it would make it busier as more of the conversations would happen within just a few forums rather that 20-30 where only less than 10 are actually used

As others have stated, the new site has priority at the moment. There is no point in making significant changes to the site before then.

I think Phil only browses forums under Site Communications so it could be worth asking there.

Not as of yet but it's very much taking shape. We don't have an eta but we've been given updates as to how it's going and things are looking positive.

It's been coming for almost as long as I've been a member here and it's great to see the wheels firmly in motion and things happening.

It's a huge undertaking and that does take time unfortunately.

Oh yeah I agree and I'm sure it's gonna be much better, curious to know how much will go and how much will stay, personally I say get rid of all artist forums and use the genres but we shall see

On an interesting note, if all of the artist forums were removed and the pop forum was used instead, it could potentially rival the lounge for posts and activity.

I would say some do still get used. So are worth keeping. Despite the band being inactive The Saturdays forum is busy. Some however do go months without posts.

It's definitely going to be up for discussion once the new site is up and running. I've always been of the mind that we should have a number of AF's in the single figures.

12 posts this week is busy ? Ha ha

I would say that there are generally only 5 artist forums that are consistently busy and a lot of them are down to rates and general games which I enjoy but I just think to make the site more attractive to new members you want to see it busy, hence the pop forum being used more than the barely used artist forums.

I would say 5-10 but even then I think it's to much

Posted by: Qween 10th July 2016, 08:12 PM

I suppose trying to have an arbitrary number of them is rather pointless, it should be based on demand and activity.

Posted by: mdna. 10th July 2016, 08:19 PM

The forum's activity levels are high right now compared to a few years ago which is good - the level of conversation seems to be rising and has been since I joined so I don't think there's any need for too much change but some of the artist forums do need to go - obviously that isn't a priority but I think a lot of artist's conversations will be fine in the pop forum.

apart from artist forums I think the forum is fine as it is.

If its based on demand and activity then all of them should go

I completely agree, this site will work better once the artist forums go and everyone gets to mix together in the genre forums
rather than having to go into different artist forums just to post about them, prefer them all in one place

I can't wait for the new site to be up and running because then I can finally implement the review of the AFs I did for management a couple of YEARS ago that advised removing things like Glee and U2 back then. Obviously now it will have many more to add.

We are definitely seeing the light at the end of the tunnel though.

Simple idea, get rid of them all ha ha this is a music community so lets uses the genre forums to mix together rather than apart, lets mix it it and get imvolved in all things pop / dance / rnb etc

Posted by: Riser 11th July 2016, 02:19 AM

You've made your point loud and clear. laugh.gif I think very few would agree with removing them all, especially since so many members are moderators of those artist forums. It's a weird time where nearly all of the artists are between eras or just inactive, which makes it look worse than it is.

(Just wait until the Shaggy Forum finally opens *.*)
