These "fans" are what I hate about this fanbase, UGH! I feel so sorry for Gagz if she has to deal with nonsense like this all the time. What is your thought on this? Do you feel Gaga is wrong for responding? Do you feel Cheek to Cheek is a mistake? Are you coincidentally the same prick that's tweeting this tripe? Let us know~

Artpop was the mistake tbf, the general public will never notice this even happening for it to cause her problems.

I like Artpop, it's a solid pop album. But she lost control of the project and moved on, which was the right thing to do. Though I'll be forever pressed that Gypsy wasn't the lead single, and that the single treatment for Venus was scrapped... But, I'd like to think that's why she scrapped her former management.

I don't blame her for responding. And I agree with what she said. She is an artist, and your not a true fan of an artist if you ever try to limit their artistic expression.

I'm sorry but she is completely in the wrong here, and I lose a ton of respect for her.

He didn't even @ that tweet to her, she actually went out of her way to search for mentions of her own name and then respond to it, knowing full well that some of the most psychotic little monsters would overload him with abuse.

I don't get why some celebrities search out mentions of themselves like that? I've had a couple do it to me without even @-ing them and it's so unbelievably sad, I certainly wouldn't do it if I were in the public eye.

Erm who the f*** cares if that 'fan' didn't @ her? It was a question for Gaga even without the @. That prick didn't @ Gaga because he didn't think she'd reply in a million years. He was also too cowardly, therefore resorting to passive/aggressive rhetoric question bitchiness was the only way. They are all prepared to spread bullshit and dish it out thinking no one will really comment or anything like that but as soon as they are being served some T back, most crawl back into their hole of arrogance, delusion and bitterness. Where was that 'constructive criticism' in that tweet of that prick??! I haven't seen any.

For huge celebrities like Gaga it's f***ing ESSENTIAL to keep track and google themselves and stuff. Especially around music release time. They hire PR consultants or something for that. But once again, WHO THE FUCK CARES. It's Gaga's NAME. It belongs to HER. She has a right to know about anything that is being said about her. Whether she does that or not is no one's business. Be less judgemental, you don't know how to be in the public eye. :/

Can I also mention that there's literally a function for verified twitters that show them all tweets about them, regardless if they were @ or not.

I would say she's in the right here. I think if she is just pouring through tweets that say "gaga" then yes you could say that's a bit obsessive of her *but* that aside, responding to that person is pretty fine and she kept it extremely classy. Agreed with most of the pro-Gaga messages here: nothing that person said was "constructive criticism", it was a passive-aggressive cheap dig at first and the middle finger picture on top of that was just beyond stupid. I think it's pretty understandable for her to get frustrated with supposed "fans" trying to force her into a box, then get so very rude about it with so little provocation.

Yes and the internet is full of people who are going to say something shady/bad/vile about you especially if you're a celebrity of that calibre. It doesn't mean you have to drag yourself down to their level, and you can't combat everybody. I just think it goes against her whole ethos of 'anti-bullying' to deliberately highlight somebody for her fans to string up, especially when she's renowned for having particularly loony fans who send death threats or anything equally as extreme.

What I meant by the last part is, if I were somebody in the public eye I'm not sure it'd be too healthy for my mindset or my confidence to sift through the awful bile on the internet random people say about you, especially as some of them can be nutters. Obviously everybody's different and maybe she can handle it (despite what she did here), and I'm not saying she doesn't have the right to read what is said about her on the internet. Of course she does, but by the same token I have the right to have an opinion on it too...

Really? I didn't actually know that! In some ways that makes part of my post a bit void.

You cannot label Gaga's response on the individual "bully-like" when the latter ignited this issue in the first place. It's not like she randomly went and threw a response in him for no particular reason just for the sake of it. If someone criticise your work, I believe you have the every right to defend yourself and in this case, it was done and not in an inappropriate manner. Also Gaga may not have been searching continuously about her name but it could well be one of these moments where "oh I'm bored let's see what people write about me" and this just came up.

As much as I LOVE Gaga doing pop anthems and the like, I can't really pass judgement on Cheek to Cheek until we get the full album! laugh.gif I'd love her to use this as a semi-recovery period after the dreadful performance of ARTPOP singles and go back to her pop roots, but that fan was wrong to imply that CTC wasn't a proper album when it clearly is going to be! tongue.gif

This is exactly what I thought. It most likely was one of those oh let's pick something on random and reply to that person situations.
