Some deserving nominations, some random as always. I wonder what decides whether there should be five or four nominations in each category? My guess is that if there's an ITV show in 5th place then there are five nominations (e.g. Cold Feet was probably 5th in drama) laugh.gif

Also LOL at Love Island being nominated in the CHALLENGE show category!!

Voted last night! My picks:

Challenge Show: The Apprentice (tough between this and I'm a Celeb but The Apprentice just has the edge for me this year)
TV Presenter: Ant and Dec
Talent Show: The X Factor
Serial Drama: Emmerdale
Comedy: Mrs Brown’s Boys
Drama: Cold Feet
Period Drama: n/a
Factual Entertainment: Gogglebox
Live Magazine Show: This Morning
Drama Performance: Jenna Coleman (Victoria) (didn't watch this but the Doctor Who fan in me is giving Jenna some love ph34r.gif)
Entertainment Programme: Celebrity Juice
Newcomer: Tilly Keeper (EastEnders)
Serial Drama Performance: Natalie J Robb (Emmerdale)
TV Judge: Simon Cowell
Daytime: The Chase

I'd agree there's some odd ones in there, and the serial drama performance/newcomer categories always feel a bit more about who has the biggest fanbase really, but I can't argue with most of them and I think the vast majority of my votes above were my #1 picks anyway.

The TV presenter category seems a lot more random than usual! No Dermot or Graham Norton? ohmy.gif

Posted by: Chez Wombat 3rd January 2017, 05:31 PM

Planet Earth II not up for Factual programme? blink.gif (Unless it doesn't fit the criteria/has to be a continuing series or something idk)

I didn't know international shows were now up for the same as British shows as well, not that I mind, GOT & Stranger Things add plenty of quality to those categories~ Ewww at the Jeremy Kyle Show up for something though.

Takeaway wins again. Groan.

Posted by: Count Olaf 25th January 2017, 07:44 PM

Ant & Dec are certain to win for the 100th time then laugh.gif

This Morning is another guaranteed win, they've been campaigning so hard as always from what I've seen, it gets quite embarrassing tbh.

Posted by: jase. 25th January 2017, 07:57 PM

Oh PISS off with Casualty winning over Happy Valley and GOT rolleyes.gif

Posted by: Mack 25th January 2017, 07:59 PM

A surprise there in Casualty winning Best Drama.

Posted by: jase. 25th January 2017, 08:12 PM

SUCH a hard category to pick but Lacey is a more than deserving winner wub.gif

Posted by: burbe 25th January 2017, 08:46 PM

Casualty winning over Happy Valley, The Night Manager and Game of Thrones?! laugh.gif What a farce.

Posted by: Mack 25th January 2017, 09:18 PM

After 16 times surely now they should make them exempt being nominated for the award, Ant + Dec

Posted by: Liаm 25th January 2017, 09:43 PM

God I hate Scarlett Moffatt

Posted by: Liаm 25th January 2017, 09:53 PM

Emmerdale YAAAAAAAAASS

Natalie J Robb deserved best actress really, Lacey is obviously amazing but she hasn't done much this year.

Posted by: jase. 25th January 2017, 09:55 PM

SO HAPPY that Emmerdale won!! wub.gif

I assume that voters may have been split between choosing Happy Valley and The Night Manager since they were both so successful at the same time, as well as Casualty also just has a higher than expected dedicated fanbase. That's the only thing I can think of really.

I think timespan that nominations can be eligible is something like late October to the following October, so Lacey's performance during the postpartum psychosis storyline will have been eligible for this year's NTAs, even though that storyline would have influenced the voters for last year's NTAs due when the ceremony falls, if that makes sense. It's also why Planet Earth II wasn't nominated this year.

Wonderful outcome for Emmerdale, but i am a bit shocked Coronation Street got the best newcomer award, i dont think the best nominee won.
