The former Brighton,Liverpool and Republic Of Ireland striker Michael Robinson has died aged 61. He went on to be a presenter of football related programmes on Spanish TV. I was just about to post that news He was one of Brighton's best players in their First Division days in the early eighties and I saw him paly at the old Goldstone ground many times. This is desperately sad news for me. RIP to a Brighton great. |

Here's a lovely piece about Michael Robinson and how big a television star he became in Spain.
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/a...nish-tv-died-61 The Brighton Argus has a story about him walking back from a meal with Seve Ballesteros. Six people stopped him to ask for an autograph. Just one stopped Ballesteros. |

Former Hull KR and Warrington Wolves forward Jordan Cox has died at the age of 27.
The circumstances of his death are "believed to be non-suspicious and not related to the current public health situation", according to a statement issued on behalf of the Cox family. Cox, who started his career with Hull KR, also went on to play for Sheffield, Doncaster and York City Knights. Hull KR chairman Neil Hudgell described his death as a "terrible shock". He said: "Jordan always seemed so fully of life and spirit and his loss is so sad. I'd like to express my sincere condolences to his mum, girlfriend and family at this awful time." Cox returned to Hull KR in 2020 and was part of their reserve-team squad when he died. He made a total of 64 appearances for the club, scoring six tries. |

It’s not been a good year for the Leeds team of the 70s. Jack Charlton follows Norman Hunter and Trevor Cherry in dying this year.
The Charlton brothers provided a classic example of how the best players don’t necessarily make the best managers. Bobby was undoubtedly the better player of the two but Jack was the more successful manager by a long way. |

Jack Charlton was Ireland's favourite Englishman. He was given honorary Irish citizenship in 1996 and was often seen fishing on the River Moy in Ballina,County Mayo.
To be part of the greatest World Cup achievements for both England and Ireland makes him one of a kind. |

He started his sports broadcasting career in 1979 after winning a BBC Wales competition, becoming a full-time broadcaster five years later.
