Another slightly boring week in the singles chart will Shawn Mendes manage to dethrone Justin Bieber, or will Justin Bieber remain on top for another week (I've lost count), new entries from Little Mix feat. Jason Derulo 'Secret Love Song', Sia 'Reaper'. New chart peaks for Craig David with Big Narstie 'Drop The Bassline' along with Major Lazar feat. Nyla & Fuse ODG 'Light It Up', Snakehips feat. Tinashe & Chance The Rapper 'All My Friends' and Robin Schulz feat. Francesco Yates on 'Sugar'.

Will Adele remain at #1 with her album '25', David Bowie drops his new album release 'Blackstar' who is aiming to dethrone Adele from the top after her long run stint at #1. Other new album releases this week from, X Ambassadors 'VHS', Savage Garden 'The Singles', Stevie McCrorie (who) ah last year's The Voice winner with his debut album 'Big World' and the Villagers 'Where Have You Been All My Life'.

Breakdown of the week
- Saturday and Sunday: Information on Twitter from MintRoyale only. Please do not make requests, we do not have any information other than what's posted.
- Monday: OCC Top 100 + Radio 1 Chart Update 5:30pm to 5:45pm.
- Tuesday: Top 40 update as and when we receive them with requests, this is NOT 100% guaranteed however. The OCC may publish sales flashes of their own accord but likewise, this is not guaranteed. Twitter and social media is your friend for today. Please post any information you find with a source. Do not nag for updates, we will post a top 40 update if we receive one.
- Wednesday: Top 40 update from Music Week from 5:45, and potential top 5 sales but this is not guaranteed.
- Thursday: See Tuesday.

Other notes (please read)
- **NEW** You may make requests Tuesday to Thursday but outside the top 40, specific positions will not be revealed (unless deemed necessary by a mod).
- Please do not demand a midweek update, one will be posted as and when we receive the information. Patience is a virtue.
- Sales information will be given out as deemed necessary by a moderator, please bear this in mind when making requests. Most requests for sales will be ignored.
- To keep everyone in the loop of all chart action, please refer to the iTunes and Spotify threads.

Please make note of the new part added to post 1 guys - we're being careful of the information we give out from the non-OCC published updates. Obviously we don't want to stop getting them altogether!

I'm really losing interest in the singles chart right now. There is little new music that interests me and sick of Bieber dominating the top 10. The chart is quite stale and streaming has increased the length of songs hanging around.

There are a couple of songs coming around in the next few weeks that will make some chart impact (top 10 I assume), How Love Begins and Lush Life.

I miss the days when January produced all sorts of random and obscure dance/rock hits that would take advantage of low sales and chart brilliantly high. Like 1992 when 'The Bouncer' went top ten or 2005 with Erasure and Dana Rayne!

From the outside looking in, it seems as if Love Yourself is having multiple weeks at #1 by default. Its undeniably popular, but taking advantage of the time of year and lack of new releases too.

Probably still end up one of best selling songs of 2016 though.

I think it's an interesting week just to see how those climbers do (Secret love song, Craig David, Tinashe) and also how Bowie sells in albums... but not even Mint Royale has tweeted anything so maybe not interesting after all biggrin.gif

Looks like Snakehips could get top 10 if their sales improve, but I doubt Little Mix can this week sad.gif

Two January surprises spring to mind: Iron Maiden getting to No 1 in 1990 with Bring Your Daughter to The Slaughter and Manic Street Preachers Masses Against The Classes in 1999

I remember Basshunter grabbing that #1 in January, that was a choon dance.gif

If Shawn Mendes does get a week at #1 it be short lived, as Justin will take it again the following week until Tinie Tempah & High Contrast release. Zara Larsson could be another contender love to see it at #1, its quite a catchy pop dance track, somehow I can't see it happening though.

Why would Shawn's run be short lived? tongue.gif Not like it's a frontloaded fanbase release heehee.gif

Dizzee Rascal and High Contrast actually tongue.gif (with DJ Fresh as the lead artist)

So hoping it can get #1, Fresh and Diz are two of my old favourites yahoo.gif

No idea how long a run Shawn will have. But I expect it will only be #1 for a week should it knock Justin off.
