Just imagine if Rihanna was still capable of making music this good.

Or at all, in fact.

I don't think you can objectively say that about someone who has had huge hits over so many years in so many genres. I know quality is subjective but even someone who doesn't like her must surely be able to see she must have made some great records to do what she has done.

I think you misunderstood what he said, to me it sounded like she's not making music at all i.e. the delay of her album.

Personally I've hated everything she's done in the past 4 years, but I did used to really like her.

Well there's certainly no doubt about who has the #1 album this week... some chance he'll have at least one more in the top 10 as well? This is probably the biggest musician death since Whitney if not since Michael Jackson. sad.gif

but will people rush to buy the new album? I'd say they'd rather buy a Greatest Hits/Best Of

But they'd probably already have a GH album - but not the new one.

This really is so sad to hear sad.gif

Kobbar-esque I know but has anyone ever died the week their new album is about to head to No.1? I hope the album's No.1 debut isn't attributed by the media to his death and is recognised as getting there on merit.

Both probably, I wouldn't be surprised if Greatest Hits knocked himself off #1 next week.

Awful news, I'd expect to see Heroes, Let's Dance and possibly Starman, Ashes to Ashes and Lazarus in the Top 40 on Friday.

When you hear the lyrics on Blackstar now it just sounds really depressing. The greatest musical post-mortem since Closer by Joy Division.

Really sad news re Bowie, bought his last Album on Friday (and it is a fitting tribute).

Looks like "Life On Mars?" may be the highest charting song this week - would also love "Where Are We Now?" as a poignant song to do well.
Both songs with a question in the title seem appropriate this morning.

R.I.P, a true legend.

Not to be too glib about it but Ashes to Ashes would be very fitting.

It depends on whether it's #1 on today's update or not.
