BuzzJack Music Forum _ Kylie and Dannii Minogue _ 51 Top 40 Hits....

Posted by: ___∆___ 10th August 2018, 02:42 PM

But many gems never got their chance to have their moment of Top 40 glory - if you could chose one to have made the Top 40 which would you go with?

Keep On Pumpin’ It Up (#49)
GBI (With Towa Tei - #63)
Sometime Samurai (With Towa Tei - DNC)
Your Disco Needs You (#152)
Lhuna (With Coldplay - DNC)
Put Your Hands Up (#93)
Flower (#96)
I Was Gonna Cancel (#59)
Beautiful (With Enrique - DNC)
Crystallize (#60)
Only You (With James Corden - #155)
100 Degrees (With Dannii - DNC)
Every Days Like Christmas (DNC)
Whistle (With Múm - DNC)
Absolutely Anything & Anything At All (DNC)
This Wheels On Fire (DNC)
Right Here, Right Now (With Giorgio Moroder - #125)
The Other Boys (With Nervo - DNC)
Stop Me From Falling (#52)
Golden (DNC)

So many missed opportunities on that list - and some I can’t believe didn’t trouble the Top 100 (Right Here, Right Now, The Other Boys, 100 Degrees etc.,) nocheer.gif

Atleast I am not going with the list you have shared they are not in top 40 sad.gif

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 10th August 2018, 03:41 PM

Excluding Golden era singles, I would go with Flower.

Posted by: pippa 10th August 2018, 03:45 PM

Flower would be the first pick.
I would swap out a few Top 10 hits in place of Flower as i think it is a stunning heartfelt ballad.

Posted by: ___∆___ 10th August 2018, 03:50 PM

^^ The lack of success for ‘Flower’ still bothers me - even the Picture Disc and CD physicals couldn’t get it up the charts nocheer.gif

Posted by: pippa 10th August 2018, 03:53 PM

Yes, it truly should have achieved more success, it is the stand out on the Abbey Road Sessions album.
Its use on Emmerdale had my hopes high for chart glory which unfortunately never materialized.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 10th August 2018, 05:34 PM

I'd probably actually go with 'The Other Boys'. ohmy.gif

Three years on and it's one of my essential life anthems.

Posted by: pippa 10th August 2018, 05:42 PM

I have only recently got into The Other Boys, it is equally infectious and camp.

Posted by: Nick Jonas 10th August 2018, 06:09 PM

Crystallize!

Posted by: pippa 10th August 2018, 07:03 PM

Crystallize, like other tracks, very underrated.
It was a highlight from an overall disappointing Kylie era.

Posted by: Stuart25 10th August 2018, 07:57 PM

Stop Me From Falling, though its peak position, chart run, sales and impact is not to be sniffed at for a Kylie single in 2018!

Such a tune music.gif I still listen to it all the time and still can’t believe it didn’t manage to chart at all!

Posted by: pippa 10th August 2018, 08:07 PM

Stop Me From Falling has some higher sales than some of the Top 40 hits Kylie achieved.
I had thought The Other Boys would easily sneak into the lower end of the Top 100 but i don't believe it came anywhere close to it.

Posted by: Michael Andrew 10th August 2018, 09:26 PM

For me, 'The Other Boys' is the one that really deserved it. A high profile collaboration that was musically relevant at the time, and a great video too.

But I'd have liked 'Every Days Like Christmas' to have become a Christmas classic. If it was the lead single, maybe it would've got more radio play.

I love 'Flower', but it was old news by the time it saw a release. So I can understand why it under-performed.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 10th August 2018, 10:19 PM

Flower for me, it's no secret I'm a big fan of it and I do love a kylie ballad.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 10th August 2018, 10:34 PM

It felt a lot like 'Flower' was just randomly released one day as an afterthought. There wasn't any hype around it and it didn't really feel like a proper single.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 10th August 2018, 11:02 PM

Ya it didn't feel like it was a real single but I felt the same about the one. I had hoped kylie would have performed flower when she done promo for the abbey Road album.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 11th August 2018, 09:49 AM

Stop Me From Falling is one of Kylie's best tracks ever and the video too.

Her Giorgio Moroder anthem was brilliant too

Flower one of her best ballads

The Other Boys never promoted correctly

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 11th August 2018, 12:11 PM

I like stop me from falling a lot but dancing us way ahead of it and I'd also prefer flower. I would easily swap these out for where is the feeling and confide in me chart positions.

Posted by: Hide&Seek 23rd August 2018, 11:10 PM

The James Corden duet - I'd have expected that to chart a lot higher, and I'd have liked the Dannii duet to have done better too.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 24th August 2018, 12:07 AM

I was sure the duet with James would have easily made the top 75 on just names alone.

Yep I think they could have easily got a few chart entries out of Christmas - as you say ‘Only You’ on name and ‘Every Days Like Christmas’ due to it being a PWL throwback but they didn’t even try with any of them tbh.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 26th August 2018, 05:46 PM

The dannii duet should have been pushed and pushed as it could have done something.

Posted by: pippa 27th February 2019, 04:12 PM

With our belief a new Greatest Hits is coming, do you think a single released to sell the album could help Kylie achieve her 52nd Top 40 hit.
Additionally, how many more Top 40 hits do you think Kylie could achieve.
Realistically i cant see her achieving more than a total of 55 Top 40 hits by the time she hangs up her musical boots.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 27th February 2019, 04:48 PM

I'd be genuinely amazed if she gets another one unless...

A) She features on a single by a popular artist
B) One of the Christmas songs suddenly blows up one year

Posted by: tommie 27th February 2019, 05:14 PM

Why on earth would they do another greatest hits at this point?

Why wouldn’t they ?

She doesn’t have one out that casual buyers can purchase, we’ve not had a full comprehensive one since ultimate Kylie, it’s not like ABBA Gold where it’s is a consistent seller so one wouldn’t be needed.

And Spotify is irrelevant, Kylie is a physicals artist and the majority of Kylie fans would prefer a full physical version

I am in full agreeence with all of this.
The last Best Of was a disaster of a release as the track listing was badly selected and it felt a pointless release that Kylie herself was not behind.

Musics Too Sad Without You is now another one that unfortunately can be added to this list.
Flower and this would be the 2 i would easily swap.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 28th February 2019, 04:43 AM

Love those 2 songs myself and crystalize would be my third choice.

It's been rumoured to coincide with the summer shows. BMG will want to capitalise on that, plus all the reasons Danny gave too. There's no readily available greatest hits physically or on Spotify (aside her 1992 one) either which is quite shocking for an artist as big as Kylie. Definitely due to have a comprehensive compilation album, preferably with 1, 2 and 3 disc versions.

This. And ideally the different versions will have different artwork too and available on all formats!

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 28th February 2019, 12:00 PM

The 1, 2 ,3 disc format would be great if it happens.

Posted by: pippa 28th February 2019, 03:56 PM

I think that could potentially be a great sales and marketing tool that would help the album back up by cassette and vinyl releases with a working name of 30 years of Hits and counting.
They have huge potential to offer fans some great packages if Kylie no has the rights to all her singles.
The 3rd disc would have to focus on b sides or rarities as that is something her hardcore fans would thoroughly enjoy.
