I feel a bit sad.gif at the handling of this album era too. I think it's his best album, and there was great potential for a successful run of singles. Instead way too much time was spent on pushing In My Blood, then it took 6 months to finally move on to Lost in Japan and by then the era had lost steam. Nervous & Youth could easily have been big hits but the label wasted them during the lengthy unclear period of "what is the second single?".

I hope the May 4th slot on SNL is an indication of a new single for a repackaged album! Hopefully it'll be as strong as There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back and revitalise the era.

This would be great, although with Illuminate, There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back was already out there and being performed on tour, giving the album that extra push. Part of me feels like this album's dead in the water now unfortunately, although I'd love if they did re-release. Even for cash-in purposes, there's so much they can do with it. Tack on the remixes, put the studio version of Use Somebody, his Under Pressure cover, a couple of new songs?, and in a perfect world a full studio version of Fix You. wub.gif

On another note, I was at the Glasgow date of the tour on Saturday night and it was undeniably the best night. The whole show was incredible from start to finish. There was such an incredible atmosphere from the crowd, and he opened up explaining that it was his first show without medication to slow his heart rate / calm himself while on stage. The setlist was perfect. There were a couple of songs from the album I was sad to see snubbed initially, but when you see the show everything comes together and I can understand why some weren't included.

My camera roll now basically consists of close-ups of his biceps, crotch and body though. kink.gif

Saw Shawn on Tuesday (with Jahq!) and he was fantastic, he completely had the audience in the palm of his hands throughout the entire show. Great set list too, I think the only song I was a bit disappointed with being excluded was Queen.

I was curious about how many other male fans would be in the audience and there were actually quite a number of them, so I didn't feel out of place laugh.gif

Posting a full recount of my gig date, I've not spoiler tagged anything so BEWARE OF SETLIST SPOILERS!

I saw Shawn live on Tuesday night, and it was a night I had been looking forward to so badly. I bought gold meet and greet tickets for me and my friend for her 21st birthday last August, as she adores Shawn too. It feels strange to think it's in the past tense now but it really was amazing. However, it didn't all go quite to plan, though none of it was Shawn's own fault.

When we arrived at the check-in point for M&G at about 3:25 (we were told we had to check in between 3 and 3:30), I was told I was not allowed to bring my rucksack in - an average sized rucksack, not full up, easy to search through and see there's nothing untoward inside. I was told I had to rush halfway round the O2 back to the front entrance and outside to the "bag drop", and leave my bag there for a ridiculous fee of £10. I did so, knowing I was against the clock, and found out the bag drop was shut. Furious, I headed back, and was told I could leave my bag outside (supervised for safety). I was distressed by this point, particularly as it only seemed to be one member of staff (possibly Shawn's tour manager? or someone on his team at least) that had an issue, other O2 staff were a little baffled by it.

Weirdly, despite the check-in window, it didn't begin til after 4:30, but that was okay, I had calmed down by then :') We went inside through the "ShawnAccess Experience" first, where there were Shawn's outfits from his music videos this era, the awards he's won recently, etc. Pretty cool to look at! At the end of that was the photo op. Shawn was super lovely even though it was so quick and I barely had the chance to say anything (not that I was disappointed by this - it was expected, I've done enough M&Gs to know that by now...!), before following through to the Q&A room. It was pretty tight to fit everyone in, but we were all sat on cushions on the floor which was cute. Shawn answered my friend's question in the Q&A which was really amazing! Such a great experience.

I picked my bag up on the way out and we went to eat dinner (the M&G wasn't past the ticket barriers so we didn't have to go straight to the arena). Afterwards, we went to the queues, where I was once again told that I was not allowed to bring my rucksack in. A rucksack that has been allowed into the O2 Arena without question every single time in the past. I politely questioned one of the ladies managing the queues, because my bag fits the ADVERTISED restrictions (advertised on the website AND literally next to the quee we were in....) and she shouted at me in response - atrocious service which only made me more anxious. We tried speaking to some members of staff, one of whom gave us a contact card for customer support, but I called the number and lines were closed :') So ultimately I had to go and put my bag in the bag drop, spending £10 for my bag to sit in a room. I wasn't expecting this at all and I was totally thrown off track, and by this point, I had missed Alessia's set entirely. Not happy.

Finally, we got inside. I bought a brilliant t-shirt and a wristband, and we headed inside. Our tickets said Row B, so naturally I expected 2nd row - the best seats I've ever had at the O2 by MILES! - only to find we were the first row of seats and were actually allowed to stand up at the barrier!!!! We were floored and instantly we were both in a better mood after the kerfuffle before. Shawn himself was sensational. It's my fourth time seeing Shawn and his best show yet. The setlist felt varied in tempo and mood, and he never once lost the crowd. Songs like Mutual and Particular Taste really hit me live too heart.gif though Perfectly Wrong remains the most underrated song on the album.

To sum up, it was a mix of some really high highs and some really low lows. However, there was nothing I could have done to avoid to lows, so I'm focusing on the positives. That said, I've sent an email of complaint to the O2 for the awful organisation and horrific customer service from some staff members. All they needed to do was send an email to ticketholders to notify them of the new restrictions, and the problem is solved entirely as I'd have brought a smaller bag! Point taken for future gigs anyway lol, better to be safe than sorry.

It was all worth it in the end when I see this:

Brilliant read! Shawn seems like a great guy in real life, and the clips I've seen look fantastic - shame about the problems from the staff though.

Seems the tour's not going to be stretching beyond the end of 2019 then (unless of course he does more festival dates, etc like last time). Hopefully that paves the way for some new music in 2020 following a break of some sort *.*

Judging by the answers he's given at his tour Q&As, it didn't seem like a new album was on the cards just yet so I was kinda surprised when we got not just one but two new singles! Surprised they didn't actually tack these onto the album earlier.

Yeah I wasn’t expecting either of the singles to be from a new album tbh. At least this’ll hopefully give the album a small boost while he’s still out on tour!

There's Nothing Holding Me Back helped his last album return Top 40 and stay really consistent so hopefully two songs can help this one out a lot. Perhaps it could pass 200k in the end which would make it his third album to do so.

I wonder if they'll bother with a physical re-issue too?

Will be interesting to see how the inclusion of the two latest singles on streaming benefits the album in the UK, when you consider this rule: "The 2 album tracks attracting most streams are neutralised to the level of the average of the next 10 highest streamed tracks associated with the album (or all tracks where album has < 12 tracks).". I assume In My Blood and Lost in Japan were originally the Top 2, but now they'll be amongst "the next 10" which should improve the average nicely.

Would be good considering the mountains of releases we've had for If I Can't Have You and Señorita kink.gif (when are those getting shipped? cry.gif)
