'Sweet Love 2K' really did feel quite big at the time, but yeah I haven't heard that anywhere in at least 15 years.

What was the story behind them never releasing anything again after getting by far their biggest hit?

Were they a casualty of the record label they were on, Wildstar? The offshoot of Telstar. Or was it a few years later that label had their issues. I guess for all of the money they pumped into the band, they weren’t happy with a 100k selling single as their biggest hit. But that’s all speculation on my part, Fierce deserved another single at the very least.

Their real gem for me was the excellent 1999 No.11 Dayz Like That. Such a good British R&B song.

———-

Obviously loving these Delta and Corrs songs that have been posted, shame they’ve been forgotten sad.gif love the Meatloaf and Marion track too <3 not so much Ronan, he had a lot of forgotten hits oops. All of his bland country covers like She Believes In Me.

Didn't Ronan have a top 10 in 2006 as well. That's very forgotten and I can't recall how it goes laugh.gif

The same era he covered 'Iris' but that charted further down.

Yes- 'All Over Again' with Kate Rusby, it reached #6.

'Lost For Words' (#9, 2003) is perhaps his most forgotten.

I couldn't hum you a bar of either of those. Him covering Iris deserves to be eternally forgotten!!

Agreed, loved both of them.

Marion Raven’s first album was pretty decent.

I didn’t mind either of those, especially the Kate Rusby song.

I do remember that at the time Lost For Words only reaching No.9 felt like a colossal and unexpected flop, it was hardly a career best song but a lead Ronan single could usually be counted on to do better than that, I’d have expected a top three. The album’s other singles did better for him at least, this one must just not have connected.

Makes me think of Five’s Don’t Wanna Let You Go and Whitney and George Michael’s If I Told You That - I honestly thought both of these were going to No.1 in 2000 and they both somehow stiffed at No.9. The Five song was in the middle of a run of three No.1 hits for them so retrospectively its low peak has always struck me as very bizarre.

Radio 1 just played 'Last Nite' by The Strokes, which I'd say is probably their most well known song? But it never went Top 10, however 12:51 went to #7 and Juicebox went to #5, both probably more forgettable tbh

This:

I still play this fairly regularly and it's so good, but I don't think I've heard it anywhere since it was out and I'd be surprised if many people who aren't avid chart followers even remember it.

It was. Reached 8. I don't even know it let alone remember. A lot of songs went past me whilst I was out of the charts for a couple of years lol.

Wonder what this is (Editing it in a quote so I can see what it is)

EDIT: Ohhh YESSS! What a BOP! Loooove this. I always used to think it was a girl group who performed this until a couple of years ago or so. Such a great song.

and @Yobnedor, yes Matinee peaked at #8!

I had a crush on Kaci back in the day blush.gif liked both of her singles too. Bought the latter too I believe. She released a song called 'Paradise' as well which didn't go top 10 iirc.

Also if Popchart browses this forum then he may or may not know that 'I Think I Love You' is a cover originally recorded by David Cassidy!

Kaci did also return with the completely mature sounding 'Crazy Possessive' which this time included her surname Battaglia, in 2010 which topped my chart as well.

Honestly, I'm surprised her second album Bring It On isn't a Buzzjack classic - it's deliciously and deliriously trashy. Body Shots is a tune and a half and perfect for that 'era' of pop music.
