Got burgled today, mine and my hubby's laptops have been stolen, PS3 gone, anything that's worth anything apart from the TV (presumably because it's HUGE) was pinched. Needless to say, I'm a bit pissed off. sad.gif My chart is now on HOLD. RedOne Rate is gonna be on HOLD. BJSC XLIII will NOT be happening for me either. Even my amazing Angry Birds iPhone dock was taken. sad.gif Was so scared when I got in, but have calmed down now...

Has anyone ever burgled YOU?
If you could get hold of them, what would YOU DO?

Wow that's terrible! Very sorry to hear that. As a matter of interest what did you type that post up on?

I've never been burgled but plenty of people I know have been. It's always small things that get taken though. Either that or they get caught somehow. I've never heard of a PROPER burglary like the one you've suffered.

Yes, I've been burgled. They took the usual things including a whole load of CDs (one of which was a rather valuable limited edition of PJ Harvey's first album).

I know it makes me sound like a typical Guardian reader but I really wish they had been caught just so that I could sit down with them and explain what it is like to be burgled.

Hope you're OK now.

Really sorry to hear that Juranamo. That sounds absolutely terrible. Probably my worst nightmare. Hope it works out well in the end.

Fortunately that has never happened to me yet, but I would be exacting in my revenge if I ever found them. I don't like this part of my personality, but I'm naturally materialistic, especially about things I care about, so I don't like losing stuff. I would probably snap, and I never snap. sad.gif

I'm the same, the person who stole my stuff would better hope they never got caught. God forbid if someone was to break into my car....

I'm on my phone Umi, that's where I do most of my posting anyway. To get really involved, it's much more convenient for me to use my laptop though. And yeah Silas, we've got contents insurance, so the stolen stuff an be replaced, but it's things like photos and my thousands of songs that are gonna be difficult to replace. sad.gif Not to mention my progress on PS3/Xbox games... (and the games themselves...) Our Blu-Ray collection completely stolen too... I just want to find these people so I can personally get them to see what they've done, and give back our photographic memories etc. sad.gif

They broke through the window when we were at work, I could understand if I lived in London or Manchester or something, but this is Suffolk. You don't expect things like this to happen here...

I went through one stage in my life where I'd pack all of my CDs (over a hundred) into carrier bags every night, so that if my house burnt down while I was asleep, I could grab them as I ran out of the house... sad.gif I'm a very materialistic person!

Awful to hear that Dan, hope you're ok sad.gif

Luckily we've never been burgled but we almost were back when I was about 10. Luckily we arrived home just in time and they ran off, they wouldn't have got far though if they'd got in, little did they know we had an alsatian at the time who LOVED eating strangers. Best security guard ever, but not great when we wanted to have friends stay over.

That is dedication! biggrin.gif (If my house did start to burn down, there is no way my iPod and laptop wouldn't make it out with me, along with as many books/CDs/games as I could safely grab laugh.gif)

I hate losing things, so to have that much stolen... I really feel your pain. sad.gif

Oh dear Juranamo I hope you're still ok. sad.gif I'm sure the initial shock was devastating but also one part of me is glad that at least you did not experience the burglary when you were present at home at that time as it would've made it so much worse.

I had my house in Hong Kong burgled several times and they stole our parents jewellery (even their wedding rings sad.gif) and XO wines that it got to the point we had to put wires on our windows. Not pleasant situation at all sad.gif.

Of course it sucks deeply that you have lost so much irreplaceable stuff that is absolutely priceless. The more heartless side of me is thinking at least the physical property can be replaced.

Our dog was awake, and they locked her in the back bedroom, poor thing. sad.gif She would have probably licked them and been friendly anyway! I think we need a proper guardian dog like a German Shephard though. laugh.gif

I re-displayed them everyday too because I loved them being in their racks. tongue.gif It seems CDs have been deemed invauable(?) now though, as all (despite being strewn across the room) seemed to be there! Even all my signed ones.

I'm so sorry, I hope everything turns out OK in the end sad.gif

My family are generally quite smart with burglars and I don't remember ever being robbed, I do somehow worry this may happen to me next year when I live in a student house, particularly one with no burglar alarm...

I probably would laugh.gif sad.gif

Although I have back-ups of most of my photo's and music.

This has inspired me to ensure I document literally every item I own that is of value (Inc serial numbers) in the event that I actually get this job in Southampton.

Luckily we kept the boxes, which for the Laptops and Mike's iPad included serial numbers on the boxes, which the Police Noted down. But in the future, I'm definitely gonna note down everything in the future!

At least they didn't take her I guess, I don't know what I'd do if I was burgled now and they stole my dog, I'd be absolutely distraught sad.gif

I have a near heart attack even if I can't find her around the house if she's hiding deep under a bed or something. I always fear that somebody's left doors open and that she's run off. When we moved house five years ago my sister came round to help and left the front door open and the dog that we had then ran out. Nobody noticed until 10 minutes later when I asked where she was. Needless to say I ran straight out to launch a full scale search for her, eventually finding her sniffing round a petrol station forecourt about five minutes away from the house. None of the staff or people pulling up to refill even seemed to bat an eyelid at her being there! I'd have not stopped searching until I found her though, I'm such a 'dog person' laugh.gif
