Biography
Fall Out Boy is an American rock band formed in Wilmette, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago in 2001. The band consists of vocalist/guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, guitarist Joe Trohman, and drummer Andy Hurley. The band originated from Chicago's hardcore punk scene, with which Wentz was heavily involved. The group was formed by Wentz and Trohman as a pop punk side project of their respective hardcore bands, and Stump joined shortly thereafter. The group went through a succession of drummers before landing Hurley and recording their debut album, Take This to Your Grave (2003), which became an underground success and helped the band gain a dedicated fanbase through heavy touring, as well as some moderate commercial success.
With Wentz as the band's lyricist and Stump as the primary composer, the band's 2005 major-label breakthrough, From Under the Cork Tree, produced two hit singles, "Sugar, We're Goin Down" and "Dance, Dance", and went double platinum, transforming the group into superstars and making Wentz a celebrity and tabloid fixture. Fall Out Boy received a Best New Artist nomination at the 2006 Grammy Awards. Their 2007 follow-up, Infinity on High, landed at number one on the Billboard 200 with 260,000 first week sales. It produced several worldwide hit singles, "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race" and "Thnks fr th Mmrs". Folie à Deux, the band's fourth album, created a mixed response from fans and commercially undersold expectations. Following the release of Believers Never Die - Greatest Hits, the band took a hiatus from 2009 to 2012 to "decompress", exploring various side projects. They regrouped and recorded Save Rock and Roll (2013), which gave the band their second career number one and produced the top 20 single "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)".
While Fall Out Boy's music has been typically described as pop punk and pop rock, the band were generally seen in the mid-2000s at the forefront of the "emo pop" explosion. Take This to Your Grave has often been cited as a vital blueprint for pop punk music in the 2000s. - Wikipedia

Shame, this looked like re-entering (again) but lucky for this 41 spot!
Alice you're wrong, Magic! were the first act to successfully defend their #41 position before Christmas.
this chart is gonna be so sad. Jameela gone before her time
retro chart highlights include Sub Focus, was so good to see Turn Back Time make the top 10
as for Elyar Fox, his song was quite awful oops, but still not half as bad as A Billion Girls lawl.
Lilly Wood defending the #41 spot
Having not looked at the chart show thread properly for a couple of weeks - Fireflies 5 years ago and Cotton Eye Joe 15 years ago? Aww man (more important with Fireflies as I was obviously actually paying attention to music then <3)
Prayer In C cheating more records with that (fake) #41 defending yay. And of course I'm here to listen to Jameela's last show, she has been a great presenter.
This week:
2
2
Alice Levene taking after Jameela re; making iconique mistakes
sad that Mr. Probz doesn't get a chart show play though
Hahaha Waves getting snubbed, was playing the wrong track just a reminder of what we'll be missing in the chart after this week?
Post replaced with Waves!
So we might get Prayer In C twice now? in 15 mins?
Im so confused was Prayer in C playing or was Waves playing so confused
Jameela's last show ?
So if Prayer In C is actually at 40 do they play it again?
It looks like two more songs have missed the top 40 that were initially in the top 40 in the midweeks. And they are:
...
Any reason why they're playing TOL in full?
#justiceforwaves
Assuming "Prayer In C" is at #40, I hope they play "Waves" instead.

Hozier was #3 in the mid chart update
If Prayer In C is in the top 40 hopefully they play Waves instead and explain their previous error. It wouldn't look good on them to play the same song twice in a 15 minute period
That's great that Hozier will debut in the top 3
They're not doing the midweek chart re-cap then? Just playing last week's Top 3 in full
Sounds like they are now playing last weeks top 3 at the start of the show instead of the midweek update!
God, I forgot how Loooooooooong that Ed Sheeran track is.
Very odd that they've suddenly switched to playing last week's top 3 instead of the mids again - they usually only do that when there isn't a midweek update (i.e. around Christmas/New Year)

Biography
Best known for her Tony-nominated performance in the Broadway smash Rent, singer/actress Idina Menzel made her solo debut in 1998 with the pop-soul effort Still I Can't Be Still. She joined the cast for Wicked in 2003 and appeared on the recording that same year, while 2004 saw her releasing the album Here. The following year, Menzel appeared on the soundtrack to the television show Desperate Housewives, and a duet with Ray Charles (which the pair had recorded back in 1998) found its way onto the tribute album Genius & Friends. In 2007, a dance version of Wicked's "Defying Gravity" became Menzel's first club hit. A year later she landed on the major label Warner Bros. and released a new album, I Stand. - iTunes

Idina Menzel just staying in the Top 40 for Jameela's last show
Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Poor Jameela having to play this abysmal screech-fest on her last show!
Looks like Idina actually is dying with Jameela then - this SURELY has to be its last week now.
What a way to kick off for her!
Hopefully this is 'Let It Go's last ever week so Jameela got to be the one to finally wave it off.
Seems fitting that Jameela & this are bowing out together.
Lol jk it'll get another random climb next week back into the top 30, wonder if Clara is a fan
Looks like we're gonna be mourning the end of Let It Go's top 40 run as well as Jameela this week
(Ha at it staying in for her last show though)
I'm actually glad to hear Let It Go, not cause the song's growing at all but more because it just HAD to be here for Jameela's last week! "YOU BROKE ME, UK!"
Ha! If "Let It Go" drops out next week after Jameela has left, that would be hilarious! Almost like it was stalking Jameela.
"Oh Jesus"
Haha Poor Jameela
poor Jameela's ears Why you do this, UK?
I'll miss the Jameela Jamil vocal edit of this!

Biography
Rather than the usual bombast or snooze-inducing "relaxation music," the U.K. six-piece known as Clean Bandit mash classical music and pop forms for an airy and dreamy yet driven sound that's like the chamber music version of house music. The core four-piece of the group were known as the Chatto Quartet, a classically trained string quartet that performed J.S. Bach and cited Jacqueline du Pré as an influence, but their post-show, wind-down music often consisted of garage, two-step, Craig David, and Arcade Fire tracks. The quartet members were aware of both producer Jon Wandeck and MC Ssegamic through the duo's work in photography, and when Wandeck suggested they play on one of his house music cuts, Clean Bandit were born. With MC Ssegamic on the mike, they released the classical-meets-house-meets-hip-hop-meets-heartbreak song "Telephone Banking" in the summer of 2011. Their Dance Armstrong mixtape followed in 2012, while 2013 saw the release of their Mozart's House EP. - iTunes

Hopefully "Let It Go" will be gone by next week
'Rather Be' Keeping things fresh and funky.
Totally hit that high note.
Saying goodbye to TWO mainstays of the Official Chart at the same time then. *bye bye*
'Rather Be' still sounds so good
Shame about 'Waves' just missing out btw
the last week of Let It Go/Jameela an iconique era!
Exactly a year for 'Rather Be'! Still sounding as fantastic as ever, as well.
Poor Jameela, the track broke her
I guess that means that "Prayer In C" landed at #42. #justiceforwaves [2]
Anyway, "Rather Be" still sounds good, but I can't say the same for "Let It Go" though.
This song's success is astounding, fair play CB!
the average age of a song in the top 40 so far is 55 weeks then. such freshness
It will be funny to see Rather Be in the 1 year retro next week!

HA Prayer In C again
But I don't mind it, I still like it. It remembers me of summer (when I went to Italy)
Oh gosh at this being played twice in 25 mins! Oh well, at least we got the two people/Parisian/met in a cafe facts again.
They likely played last week's top 3 in full so Prayer In C wasn't played again so soon.
My two favourite #1s of last year one after the other - this may not be fresh and new but it's wonderful all the same.
One last time of that Fascinating fact that we hear every week...thank you Jameela
Oh! "Prayer In C" again.
We don't need to hear "Prayer In C" twice in the space of half an hour

Biography
Favoring a naughty schoolboy look that makes him seem even younger than his already tender years (22 when his first major-label album was released), Scottish artist, producer, and remixer Calvin Harris has a similarly youthful and forward-looking approach to his music. Skipping the usual apprenticeship in the clubs or on indie labels, Harris went from posting his own D.I.Y. electroclash music online through MySpace and similar sites, to signing with the multinational giant EMI almost in a single step. A short time later, he was producing material for Kylie Minogue, Dizzee Rascal, and Rihanna.
Born on January 17, 1984, in the southern Scotland city of Dumfries, Harris was first attracted to electronic music in his teens and was recording bedroom demos by 1999. Two of these songs, "Da Bongos" and "Brighter Days," were released as a 12" club single and CD-EP by the Prima Facie label in early 2002 under the artist name Stouffer. With that single to his credit, the still teenaged Harris moved from Scotland to London, but as a very small fish in one of the world's largest and most competitive ponds, Harris floundered; only one of his songs was released during his time in London, "Let Me Know" with vocalist Ayah on the Unabombers' 2004 live-mix CD Electric Soul, Vol. 2.
Returning home to Dumfries, Harris began posting homemade solo recordings to his MySpace page. An A&R representative from EMI liked what he heard and signed Harris to the label in 2006. Following a pair of successful singles, Harris released his debut album, I Created Disco, in the summer of 2007. It featured two Top Ten hits ("Acceptable in the 80s" and "The Girls"), and climbed high in the album charts. Along with his work as a solo artist, including touring in front of a full live band, Harris quickly became an in-demand remixer — working on singles by Jamiroquai, Groove Armada, All Saints, and CSS. He also wrote and produced songs for Kylie Minogue's 2007 comeback album, and collaborated with Dizzee Rascal on "Dance wiv Me," which reached number one in the U.K.
"I'm Not Alone," the first single from his second album, also hit number one upon release in April 2009, as did the album when it appeared that August. That album, Ready for the Weekend, topped the U.K. album chart and peaked at number 12 on Billboard's U.S. dance/electronic chart. Through 2011, Harris took on production work for Example, Tinchy Stryder, and Rihanna ("We Found Love," a quadruple-platinum hit in the U.S.), while he also issued two more of his own singles (the Kelis collaboration "Bounce" and "Feel So Close"). Harris' third solo album, 18 Months, was a collaboration-filled affair that featured "We Found Love" and "Bounce" plus vocal spots from Ellie Goulding, Florence Welch, and Ne-Yo, among others. It was released in October of 2012. - iTunes

So many former no.1's at the lower region of the chart.
"Calvin Harris and John Newman, perfect EDM couple."
Stop the presses - Sigma finally have an album title!
There's still gonna be a (?) involved in the recaps though as I have no idea if 'Rudeboy' will be on the album or not. But at least it'll look SLIGHTLY more complete than 'TBA debut album'.
It's time for 'Blame' t go now I think.
Loving those award winning vocals from Sir Newman on 'Blame'
Switch 'Let It Go' with 'Waves' and we'd have the perfect start to the chart!
Brangelina of EDM!
Anyway, "Blame" sounds really good, as well as "Changing" before.

"The A Team" was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards and he performed the song in duet with Elton John during the ceremony. He spent much of 2013 touring North America as the opening act for Taylor Swift's Red Tour. His second studio album is titled x, read as "multiply", and is scheduled for worldwide release on 23 June 2014. He was nominated for Best New Artist at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. - Wikipedia

hanging round like a fart in a lift
First ever no.1 of course! This show is rightfully packed with Jameela-isms.
I'd have actually been quite sad if Jameela didn't mention this being Ed's first EVER #1
Ed's first ever #1 still sounds iconic. I'm going to miss that
So much EDM
Also, I'm starting to like "Sing" again Maybe things get better in moderation?
I think fart in a lift has been said enough times to be classed with Official Jameela Catchphrase status *_*
Will not miss Jameela at all.
Oh not the ghastly falsetto again ~ Justin Timberlake karaoke ~ DIRE
Jameela haters to the left please, let us have our moment

Biography
Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter (born September 4, 1981) (/biˈjɒnseɪ/ bee-YON-say) is an American singer and actress. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, she performed in various singing and dancing competitions as a child, and rose to fame in the late 1990s as lead singer of R&B girl-group Destiny's Child. Managed by her father Mathew Knowles, the group became one of the world's best-selling girl groups of all time. Their hiatus saw the release of Beyoncé's debut album, Dangerously in Love (2003), which established her as a solo artist worldwide; it sold 11 million copies, earned five Grammy Awards and featured the Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles "Crazy in Love" and "Baby Boy".
Following the disbandment of Destiny's Child in June 2005, she released her second solo album, B'Day (2006), which contained hits "Déjà Vu", "Irreplaceable", and "Beautiful Liar". Beyoncé also ventured into acting, with a Golden Globe-nominated performance in Dreamgirls (2006), and starring roles in The Pink Panther (2006) and Obsessed (2009). Her marriage to rapper Jay-Z and portrayal of Etta James in Cadillac Records (2008) influenced her third album, I Am... Sasha Fierce (2008), which saw the birth of her alter-ego Sasha Fierce and earned a record-setting six Grammy Awards in 2010, including Song of the Year for "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)". Beyoncé took a hiatus from music in 2010 and took over management of her career; her fourth album 4 (2011) was subsequently mellower in tone, exploring 1970s funk, 1980s pop, and 1990s soul. Her fifth studio album, Beyoncé (2013), was critically acclaimed and was distinguished from previous releases by its experimental production and exploration of darker themes.
A self-described "modern-day feminist", her songs are often characterized by themes of love, relationships, and monogamy, as well as female sexuality and empowerment. On stage, her dynamic, highly choreographed performances have led to critics hailing her as one of the best entertainers in contemporary popular music. Throughout a career spanning 17 years, she has won 17 Grammy Awards and sold over 75 million records as a solo artist, and a further 60 million with Destiny's Child, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time. The Recording Industry Association of America recognized Beyoncé as the Top Certified Artist in America during the 2000s decade. In 2009, Billboard named her the Top Radio Songs Artist of the Decade, the Top Female Artist of the 2000s and their Artist of the Millennium in 2011. In 2014, she ranked atop of Forbes ' Celebrity 100 and became the highest-paid black musician in history. Time listed her among the 100 most influential people in the world in 2013 and 2014. - Wikipedia

Prior to the release of his debut album, Legend's career gained momentum through a series of successful collaborations with multiple established artists. He lent his voice to Magnetic Man's "Getting Nowhere," Kanye West's "All of the Lights", on Slum Village's "Selfish" and Dilated Peoples' "This Way". Other artists included Jay-Z's "Encore", and he sang backing vocals on Alicia Keys' 2003 song "You Don't Know My Name", the Kanye West remix of Britney Spears' "Me Against the Music", and Fort Minor's "High Road". Boo hiss etc. In the chorus when the piano melody sounds like that of 'Clocks', I begin to tail off into that song now...
*and i'm still in love with it*

Who has a pizza or a cake to sing this to!?

It's so strange how you can know a song note for note despite never once listening to it out of choice. That says it all about the saturating overplay it's had.

Yay for James Bay holding up well from the mids!
Quesition why is Don't Tell em back in the chart? and Like that song and Hold back the River. So good
I don't know an awful lot about James Bay's music (although I'm sure this won't be the case in a couple of months!) but this is a very pleasant debut!
Will be popping in and out from time to time, got a bit of coursework to do
Hopefully All Of Me, Blame and Sing fall or even dropout of the top 40 next week in the proposed order: ALL OF ME -> BLAME -> SING
Shame Under The Shadows doesn't seem to be making the top 40 this week am getting quite into it
This is a pleasant track, but I fail to see what makes him different to any other generic singer-songwriter with a guitar.
Trying to do the US Airplay updates, and apparently James Bay actually has radio support in the US?
okay, i like that james bay style
Glad I chose not to listen. This chart is shockingly stale.

Biography
Following the success of JLS and the Wanted, X Factor contestants One Direction were the next group of heartthrobs to help revive the boy-band concept. The quintet outdid all of their predecessors, becoming the biggest boy band since Take That, selling millions of albums and singles, filling arenas and making movies, while hitting number one many times over across the world with undeniably hooky songs and plenty of boy next door charm.
The group was formed by Niall Horan from Mullingar, Ireland; Zayn Malik from Bradford; Harry Styles from Cheshire; Louis Tomlinson from Doncaster, and Liam Payne from Wolverhampton (the latter had previously reached the judge's house stages of The X Factor as a 14-year-old back in 2008). Each originally entered 2010's seventh series of X Factor as individuals, but following a suggestion from guest judge Nicole Scherzinger, they were grouped together to become One Direction. Mentored by Simon Cowell, they soon became one of the favorites to win the show, thanks to renditions of Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You," Elton John's "Something About the Way You Look Tonight," and Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart." However, despite receiving a standing ovation for their duet with Robbie Williams ("She's the One") in the live final, they eventually finished third behind Rebecca Ferguson and winner Matt Cardle.
Spotting the potential of five Justin Bieber-esque teen pinups, Cowell signed them to his Syco label in a two-million dollar deal, and after performing on the X Factor tour, the quintet began work on their debut album with Savan Kotecha (Britney Spears, Enrique Iglesias). Following a sponsorship deal with Nintendo DS and a book, Forever Young, named after their cover of the Alphaville classic that was intended to be their winner's song, they released their first single, "What Makes You Beautiful," in late 2011. The full-length album Up All Night followed soon after. In 2012, One Direction became the first British band to debut on top of the Billboard 200 list when Up All Night sold over 176,000 copies during its first week of release in America.
In late 2012, One Direction released their sophomore album, Take Me Home. Highlighting more of the band's melodic pop, Take Me Home featured songs and production via Sweden's Carl Falk, Rami Yacoub, and Savan Kotecha, who worked on Up All Night, as well as contributions from singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran. The album proved to be another smash and topped charts around the world, earning multi-platinum certification in half a dozen countries. The singles "Live While We're Young" and "Little Things" also hit number one across the globe, and "Kiss You" reached the Top Ten in the U.S.
One Direction then embarked on a globe-spanning tour in which the band played over 100 shows, including six sold-out nights at London's massive O2 Arena. At the same time, they were being filmed by director Morgan Spurlock for This Is Us, a mix of documentary and concert footage that proved to be successful at the box office when it was released in August of 2013. While they were touring, One Direction also began work on their third album, Midnight Memories. Released just in time for the 2013 holidays, the record featured songwriting input from all the members, a new production team, and some new folk and '80s hair metal influences. It nearly outdid Take Me Home and Up All Night, peaking at number one in seven countries and spawning the singles "Best Song Ever" and "Story of My Life." - iTunes

So strange to think this only peaked at #8
9 place drop? Unheard of for Ed...
Hate this song
Dat 9-place drop doe.
ooh a big drop for Don't
I actually like the song but its chart run is starting to get ridiculously long.
For a #8 peaking single its doing great sales wise well done Ed Sheeran!!
'Don't' ~ The vapid drivel just keeps coming
Big drops for some of the oldies is a start I guess. Loved this but far too omnipresent (as Ed has been in general).
Finally something fresh. I wonder how far this can climb. It's been abit of a slow burner.

On the fence with this one. I'm glad a new track is getting played but it's pretty lame.
'Don't' really feels like it's been massively overshadowed by the two #1s in the UK, very impressive that it's got to 30 weeks top 40 (albeit with 3 of those weeks gained by streaming... but on the flipside it lost a week due to the instant grats rule so overall I think this 'should' be its 28th week in the sales top 40 )
Texts being read out after 'Cool Kids' - please get mine Jameela. *fingers crossed*
Wow, "Cool Kids" really slipped from its mid-week position
It feels so good to hear Echosmith on the chart show. <3 And slightly weird because I was playing this song back in 2013. Looks like it's doing well in actually taking off then.
Cool Kids
I don't know why, but there's something really unlikable about this? I quite like the production but the vocalist sounds like a wannabe Hayley Williams and I'm not a fan of the chorus.
Its quite a nice track, I just find it more of a cheap pop track though
Some fresh blood~
FINALLY a fresh song (that isn't shit), this seems to be taking off a lot recently, could have a small chance of it going top 10 if it keeps climbing.
'Cool Kids' is an early contender for my least favourite song of 2015. Even though it's actually from 2013. Ugh at it still climbing.

Biography
Take That are a British pop group that formed in 1990 currently consisting of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, and Mark Owen. The original line-up also featured Jason Orange and Robbie Williams. Barlow acts as the group's lead singer and primary songwriter. Owen and Williams would provide backing vocals, with Donald and Orange serving primarily as dancers. In total, the group have had 27 top 40 singles and 16 top 5 singles in the United Kingdom alone, 11 of which have reached number 1, as well as having seven number 1 albums. Internationally the band have had 54 number one hits and 35 number-one albums. Robbie Williams left the band in 1995 while the four remaining members completed their world tour and released a final single before splitting up in 1996.
After filming a 2005 documentary about the group and releasing a new greatest hits album, a four-piece Take That without Williams officially announced a 2006 reunion tour around the UK, entitled The Ultimate Tour. On 9 May 2006, it was announced that the group were set to record new material together once again; their fourth studio album, Beautiful World, was released in 2006 and was followed up with The Circus, in 2008. The group achieved new success as a four-piece, scoring a string of chart hits across the UK and Europe while taking the number of records sold to 45 million worldwide. Williams rejoined Take That in 2010 for the band's sixth studio album, Progress. It was released on 15 November of that year and became the fastest selling album of the 21st century and the second fastest selling album in British history, whilst also making it the first album of new material to feature Take That's original line-up since their 1995 album, Nobody Else. Since 2011, Take That have set the new record for the fastest selling tour of all time in the UK with Progress Live, beating the previous record set by their Circus Live Tour in 2009, won the BRIT Award for Best British Group, and were named as Amazon's top-selling music artist of all time. In 2012, the band were announced by Forbes as the fifth highest-earning music stars in the world. In the same year, the Official Charts Company revealed the biggest selling singles artists in British music chart history with Take That currently placed at 15th overall, making them the most successful boy band in UK chart history. - Wikipedia

I hope Cool Kids stays around for a big longer
I think 'Cool Kids' will eventually peak top 15.
Ooh the quality going right back up! Take That still on top form, their album is actually worth a listen too.
This is plummeting now... shame as it's a good listen and doesn't feel overplayed at all.
Quite a drop for take that
take it to trash, please
Kind of a bad drop for them though I guess no longevity for this track?
ouch at Take That, its run started off decently too. They probably won't even get a post-album top 40 from this era either, flops.
Hefty drop for Take That
Mark Owen hasn't aged that well, has he?

Biography
Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13, 1989) is an American singer-songwriter. Raised in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, Swift moved to Nashville, Tennessee at the age of fourteen to pursue a career in country music. She signed with the independent label Big Machine Records and became the youngest songwriter ever hired by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house. The release of Swift's eponymous debut album in 2006 established her as a country music star. "Our Song", her third single, made her the youngest person to single-handedly write and perform a number one song on the country chart. She received a Best New Artist nomination at the 2008 Grammy Awards.
Swift's second album, Fearless, was released in 2008. Buoyed by the pop crossover success of the singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me", Fearless became the best-selling album of 2009 and was supported by an extensive concert tour. The record won four Grammy Awards, with Swift becoming the youngest ever Album of the Year winner. Swift's third album, 2010's Speak Now, sold over one million copies in its first week of US release and was supported by the Speak Now World Tour. The album's third single, "Mean", won two Grammy Awards. Swift's fourth album, Red, was released in 2012. Its opening US sales of 1.2 million were the highest recorded in a decade, with Swift becoming the only female artist to have two million-plus opening weeks. The singles "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and "I Knew You Were Trouble" were worldwide hits. The Red Tour is visiting worldwide venues in 2013 and 2014.
Swift is known for her narrative songs about her experiences as a teenager and young adult. As a songwriter, she has been honored by the Nashville Songwriters Association and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Swift's other achievements include seven Grammy Awards, twelve Billboard Music Awards, eleven American Music Awards, eleven Country Music Association Awards and six Academy of Country Music Awards. She has sold over 26 million albums and 75 million digital single downloads worldwide. Forbes estimates that she is worth over $220 million. In addition to her music career, Swift has appeared as an actress in the ensemble comedy Valentine's Day (2010) and the animated film The Lorax (2012). As a philanthropist, Swift supports arts education, children's literacy, natural disaster relief, LGBT anti-discrimination efforts, and charities for sick children. - Wikipedia

Biography
Although the first solo single from soul-inspired, London-born artist Sam Smith was issued in early 2013, it was his soaring vocal contribution to Disclosure's October 2012 U.K. garage track "Latch" which brought him to most people's attention. For most of his teens, Smith balanced study with music, soaking in the raw and passionate approach to performance exemplified by his favorite artists at that time such as Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Chaka Khan. "Latch" hit the upper reaches of the U.K. singles chart when Smith was 21, and many were surprised when his debut solo track took a more tempered path. The production on February 2013's "Lay Me Down" — also courtesy of the ordinarily dancefloor-focused duo Disclosure — recalled the stripped-back material that had proved successful for Adele in the preceding years. Next, Shahid Khan — aka Naughty Boy — decided to follow his Emeli Sandé-fronted U.K. Top Ten hit "Wonder" with the infectious, Bollywood sample-driven "La La La." Featuring Smith's powerful lead vocal, it became an instant May 2013 U.K. number one single following his spring tour in support of Sandé. - iTunes

Echo all said about Listen To The Man. Such a great track & by a mile his best. Needs to have a surge from somewhere (as mentioned The Brits would be ideal) - but I bet he'll just perform Budapest.

David Guetta has sold over six million albums and 15 million singles worldwide. In 2011 Guetta was voted as the #1 DJ in the 'DJ Mag Top 100 DJs' fan poll. - Wikipedia

A former Number 5
'Dangerous' now officially beating the top 40 weeks of 'Lovers On The Sun', and still as high as #22!
Finally a tune! 'Dangerous'

This is such a tune though, yessss Guetta.
"Dangerous" having a better run here than in the US, partially happy, partially gutted
Much more like it Good to see this sticking around!
Thank goodness Bang Bang took a big fall. It's climb to nearly top 10 threw me off
"David Guetta's like 75 years old, it's AMAZING that he's still in the chart!" !!
Love Dangerous hopefully What I did for love smashes
ok, it's all clear with this Guetta's track. Next single, por favor.

- iTunes

I'm really not keen on Sam Smiths voice. Boy can he drone on.
To be fair Paul McCartney was in the chart last week just 3 years shy of that age!

SO TIRED OF THIS SONG OMG UGH
I like I'm the Only One so much
I'll always have time for this one despite my dislike of 'Stay With Me'. A ballad that is more sultry than dull works for me.
Reading through some of the drivel in this thread, thank goodness Jameela is leaving.

Biography
With a "cheeky chappy" persona to match Robbie Williams and vocals reminiscent of original Pop Idol Will Young, former call-center worker Olly Murs was one of the success stories of the 2009 season of The X Factor, finishing runner-up to Joe McElderry in the hotly contested final. Born in Essex in 1984, Murs showed little interest in singing while at school, focusing his attention on football, where he played for the school team and later semi-professionally for local non-league team Witham Town. In 2007, he appeared on Deal or No Deal, where he won a lowly £10, but it was his performance of Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" on the sixth series of The X Factor that enabled him to show off his talents. Mentored by Simon Cowell in the live stages, he wowed judges with renditions of songs by the Beatles, Queen, and George Michael and soon became the favorite to win the show. However, despite a duet with musical hero Robbie Williams in the final, Murs finished a respectable second. In 2010, he signed a six-figure record deal with Epic/Syco Music and embarked on the sold-out X Factor arena tour. After being personally invited by Williams to play at the televised charity football event Soccer Aid, Murs released his first single, the Jason Mraz-inspired "Please Don't Let Me Go," in August. His debut album, featuring songs written by Eg White, Scouting for Girls' Roy Stride, and Wayne Hector, was released in 2010. The record produced three U.K. Top 20 singles, with "Thinking of Me" and "Heart on My Sleeve" racking up chart positions alongside the debut number one "Please Don't Let Me Go."
Murs took a short break from his musical career in late 2011 to present the eighth season of The Xtra Factor — a spinoff behind-the-scenes look at The X Factor — returning to the program that shot him to fame. His experience with the dynamics involved in the show and his upbeat character made him a firm favorite with the audience — as well as flirty co-presenter Caroline Flack. During the recording of each show, Murs was working on songs for his second album with writers Steve Robson (Lily Allen, James Morrison) and Claude Kelly (Kelly Clarkson, Backstreet Boys). The first single from his second record, "Heart Skips a Beat," featuring U.K. hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks, was released in summer 2011 and swiftly became a hit. The full release, In Case You Didn't Know, followed in November and secured his first U.K. number one album. The following year, Murs opened for sprightly boy band One Direction on their North American tour and re-released the "Heart Skips a Beat" single, replacing Rizzle Kicks with Philadelphia rap duo Chiddy Bang, to coincide with the shows. Also in 2012, Murs released his third studio album, Right Place Right Time, which included the single "Troublemaker," featuring rapper Flo Rida. ~ Jon O'Brien & Scott Kerr, Rovi / iTunes

Sexy times with Katy Perry. What has Jameela taken today?
"sexy times" with Katy Perry being the most important moment of Travie's career according to Jameela
I hope Olly releases 'Did You Miss Me' very soon, his second best behind 'Heart Skips A Beat' for me.
Still love this
And Up finally hit me recently, loving both his hits this era
Still waiting for "Elastic Heart". Hope "The Nights" makes it as well!
Phenomenal Travie McCoy intro there from Jameela !!
'Wrapped Up' is so wonderful, probably my second favourite Olly lead now after 'PDLMG' although I like all of them.
Suddenly Sam Smith sounds a lot better when Olly Murs follows him

'Chandelier' still smashing!
Oh, "Chandelier", that was a nice surprise
My fave Sia lookalike is the one in Eastenders.
'Chandelier' re-growing on me now that I don't hear it as often.
Can we just skip this one & play the MUCH superior Elastic Heart twice?
I've never once failed to get goosebumps when I've heard 'Chandelier'.
Still adore this, and don't think i'll ever stop doing so.
Excited for 'Elastic Heart'
Woah at how well 'Chandelier' is holding up!
Still not bored of Chandelier.
Back in the the top 20! Incredible.
I wasn't actually too keen on 'Elastic Heart' when I heard it on the chart update, hoping it'll grow on second listen.

"Night Changes" I'm pretty sure a Zayn gif from the video broke the 1D tag on Tumblr at one point
I now prefer this to Steal My Girl, bit of a grower.
So "Budapest" is on the rise again
Defo my fave One Direction song so far!
Yay! George Ezra back at Number 1 in the album chart

Ezra doing very well to upstage the 2 juggernauts once again!
George Ezra's album is nice but it is SO much weaker than Ed's and Sam's album so it's a shame to see it at #1 again really although I do like it.

George unexpectedly snatching from Ed at the last second AGAIN! Poor poor Ed, he's never going to get that 13th week at this rate
Budapest overstaying its welcome. If nothing else, it should be lower than Blame It On Me.
George's Album back on top
Excellent Stuff
George Ezra is number one again...Did not see that coming at all... So happy
Well done George. I expected Ed to be No.1 in the albums!
What was the Ed Sheeran played on the album chart recap?
Budapest doesn't seem to want to ever leave then. I just hope it doesn't get much of a boost from the BRITS
Budapest still >>> Blame It On Me so at least the chart's rightfully reflecting that.
What a surprising top 3 albums
Perhaps some time around 2016 we can look forward to the phrase 'George Ezra's FIRST EVER #1'

Biography
Cleverly using dance music blogs as the platform to launch his career, Tim Berg, aka Avicii, has since become one of the most prominent producers on the burgeoning Swedish house scene. Born in Stockholm in 1989, Berg only started making music at the age of 18, writing and remixing tracks in his bedroom and then leaking them onto various blogs. Influenced by Daft Punk and Steve Angello, his melodic house sound gained a huge following, and led to support from Tiësto, who invited him to perform a weekly residency at Privilege in Ibiza, and Pete Tong, who released first single "Manman" through his Bedroom Bedlam label. After he remixed tracks for Little Boots, Robyn, and Dizzee Rascal, Berg's first mainstream release, the Ministry of Sound instrumental "Seek Bromance," became a huge hit across Europe and later in the U.K., thanks to a vocal version featuring Amanda Wilson. In 2012 he released the song "2 Million" after reaching that number of followers on Facebook, while his single "Le7els" and its accompanying video were nominated at that year's MTV Music Video Awards. Towards the end of 2012 he released his highly-anticipated collaboration single with Nicky Romero. "I Could Be The One" was a smash hit and was featured heavily on reality TV shows and radio play across Europe. In 2013, Avicii teamed up with Ericsson and creates the first "crowdsourced" track which enabled the producer to connect to fans and promote his brand. The single "3 Million" was released to celebrate the 3 millionth fan on his Facebook page. "Le7els" was nominated for the Best Dance Recording at the 2013 Grammys but lost out to Skrillex & Sirah's "Bangarang". Ahead of his debut album #TRUE, he released the single "Wake Me Up" in June 2013. Featuring Aloe Blacc, it reached the top of the UK Charts and confidently showed off his new musical direction. ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi / iTunes

Good to finally hear a new entry.
I wasn't expected that goes and re-edits the sales prep
Avicii 'The Nights' to go top ten next Sunday plz~
Avicii! Saviour to the Top 40
This is great track
Lol "this is GOING TO appear on Fifa 15" - been out nearly 4 months.
This sounds so Scandinavian it hurts!
It sounds like Wake Me Up/Hey Brother/Timber/Counting Stars all mashed into one. Still, nice to hear a new entry.
This is so asking for a mash-up with "Timber".
Didn't like The Days at all so glad this is the one that got to chart!
This track is good not his best but still good
'The Nights' predictably just sounding like another dull retread of 'Wake Me Up' on first listen. Blah.
Avicii coming to SAVE the chart
Good to see this starting his 2015 off well, although it's one of my least favourites of his in its original form (go check out the Avicii By Avicii version, it's a lot better), really hoping Stories is another zomg amazing album
So happy to see Ezra's climbing
And, of course, shoutout to Avicii and Ras on the vocals! Nice start though!

This is such a mess but I like it (The Nights, I mean)
Blondie back in the Top 15.
It's really quite baffling how Avicii seems to be practically trying to deny The Days ever happened when The Nights is essentially exactly the same?! Strange how this went top 15 as well. Guess Robbie Williams' name isn't beneficial for songs becoming a hit/radio 1's attention these days
It's just standard Avicii anyway.
The Nights sounded like a huge mess to me sadly
YASS Melissa Steel still dominating *.*
'I Loved You' ~ what a immense jam
Always been a casual fan, but i am now very obsessed with this. I always hear it out and it's such a jam
Yes at this rebounding! WAY too good to drop out after a month.
Sounded sublime out last night.
YES at this being at the higher end of the chart again at the moment, so good!
The Nights sounded wonderful. I'm very much a fan of that kind of Avicii so it's not too surprising but I think I'm going to have to finally hear 'The Days' as well after that.
Oh and yay for I Loved You sticking around.
Love I loved You
Can't realize for sure WHY Blonde is still rolling... dull track imo.
"The Nights" is was better than "The Days" though
"I Loved You", so good and impressed that it's rebounding so much

Great start for 'Elastic Heart'.
TOO MUCH LOVE FOR THIS SONG AND HER AND THE ALBUM <3
double Sia in the top 20 *.* Elastic Heart doing extremely well off pretty much just the music video boost!
Brilliant track by Sia
btw I was in two minds whether I should credit The Weeknd and Diplo or not, what do you guys think? Should I credit them for next week?
It's great to see this finally smash here.
Seems weird though having heard it an awful lot when I was in NZ (where it charted quite highly if I recall).
The Weeknd sounding different today ~
Pleased to see Sia getting another hit from her '1000 Forms Of Fear.''
Can't believe it's finally charting! It is such a perfect song.
(another one to make this chart feel quite '2013')
Oh bloody hell, I wanted this top 10. This better not be its peak.
Great to see Avicii at #16!
One place out of the top 15 though
Will expect to see it number 1 top 10 next week
Elastic Heart. What a bizarre m'v
Oh my gosh this version of 'Elastic Heart' is AMAZE I checked out the music video for this song due to all the controversy surrounding it, but I prefer this version, the production definitely elevates it more!
Is this the Weeknd and Diplo version playing?
Oh the album version without. Hmmm.
I was hoping Elastic Heart would sneak into the top 10 after it was there on Friday's update.
Elastic Heart already?
BTW, i'm trying to know the salt of the track... but i can't.
Shame about the drop, never mind, I still prefer Chandelier over it
Oh, I loved this back in 2013 but I can't get used to the new version But more Sia in the chart is always a good thing.
Looks like we'll get to hear abit about Clara today.

- iTunes

A former #2 💩💩
Still loving 'Real Love'~
Official Charts saying only 400 copies between George and Ed on the albums
Loving Elastic Heart, really atmospheric song and brilliant video as well (which seems to be being horribly misinterpreted). Even if this release is really random seeing as it was on the soundtrack to a film two years ago!
Disappointed Sia didn't make the top 10 this week but #13 is still so much better than I ever imagined it would make so I'm still happy enough.
(Plus Real Love too )
'Elastic Heart' actually did sound a lot better on second listen - still not loving it as much as 'Chandelier' just yet but hopefully it should continue to grow.
Ben, whichever way you credit it, at least keep it consistent instead of putting just Sia at the top of the post and 'Sia Feat. The Weeknd & Diplo' in the chart history I'm keeping it credited to just Sia in chart recaps and spreadsheets and whatnot.
The Weeknd receiving credit from the OCC is doing my head in. The production is from Diplo, so at least that part makes sense. I guess they're just combining the sales to the Hunger Games version as it's already charted/therefore easier. Great to see it in the T40, let alone at #13 though - really hope it (and "Chandelier") can rack up some decent sales/boost '1000 Forms of Fear' at the same time.
Another track that sounded immense last night.
Love that bassy production.
'Real Love' still fairly high up and sounding huge. Band Aid who?
Love Clean Bandit
Can AATB done please? Fed up of it now!
