BuzzJack Music Forum _ Pop _ Olly Murs feat. Travie McCoy - Wrapped Up

Posted by: Ryan. Sep 29 2014, 08:35 PM

Olly Murs has announced on his Google Hangout that is happening right now that 'Wrapped Up' featuring Travie McCoy is the lead single from upcoming album 'Never Been Better' and will be released on November 16th, the week before the album.

Olly always has fabulous singles so very excited!

Posted by: DonaldDuck Sep 29 2014, 08:39 PM

Travie is a rather irrelevant artist right now! I'm rather surprised tbh.

Posted by: Liаm Sep 29 2014, 08:41 PM

Hmm I'd rather there was a better guest than Travie, but look how great Troublemaker was! I'm very excited regardless.

Posted by: Therm• Sep 29 2014, 09:03 PM

Travie McCoy? Is Olly Murs stuck in 2010 or what

let's hope it sounds good, I did like Troublemaker/Dear Darlin

Posted by: shadow2009 Sep 30 2014, 11:50 AM

He has a Demi Lovato feature and he releases a song with Travie McCoy?

Ugh. Another Thinking Of Me, please. biggrin.gif

Posted by: slowdown73 Sep 30 2014, 12:22 PM

Strange combination. I remember the Saturdays recently did a collaboration with Travie McCoy and it was awful.

Apparently gets its digital release in Australia 5:30pm tomorrow (Friday)

Posted by: J▲hq Oct 2 2014, 06:47 PM

Look forward to hearing it, each lead single has been better than the last!

Posted by: Liаm Oct 2 2014, 07:52 PM

There's a clip on his Facebook and Instagram now, very funky! Puts me in mind of Jamiriquai sort of. Sounds great anyway, I'm sure I'll love it.

Posted by: Ryan. Oct 2 2014, 09:39 PM

Sounds good, reminds me a lot of Bruno Mars' 'Treasure'!

Posted by: Cameron Oct 2 2014, 09:58 PM

Sounds like 'Treasure' mixed with 'Love Come Down'

Posted by: Dane Oct 3 2014, 08:31 AM

Really like this! Had it on repeat for the past hour, definitely one of his best singles for me! The Travie part is ok, little bit unnecessary but it's bearable. Can honestly see Olly getting another number one with this! smile.gif

Posted by: Mango Oct 3 2014, 08:36 AM

Agreed, it's a great little song, I really like the production on it. Should do well, depending on the competition that week of course, but then he'll probably get an X Factor slot too, so I see no reason why this can't get to Number 1.

Posted by: Cameron Oct 3 2014, 08:59 AM

I am so impressed! Olly is the best he has ever sounded, I would prefer it without Travie McCoy but oh well laugh.gif

Posted by: Rob S Oct 3 2014, 09:34 AM

Love it. He just gets better and better for me.

Posted by: Regina Oct 3 2014, 11:31 AM

His most instant lead single for me wub.gif

Wrapped Up >>> Heart Skips A Beat >>>> Troublemaker >>>>>>>> (X infinity) >>> Please Don't Let Me Go

Posted by: _Rosie_ Oct 3 2014, 11:32 AM

In love with this song!! Have had it on repeat!
Olly's done good here! Looking forward to see where it charts when it's released. I predict / hope for number 1. Really catchy! biggrin.gif

Posted by: mr_aly Oct 3 2014, 11:35 AM

This is fab! I can't believe how much he's improved since he started out, so catchy and instant.

I agree with the Jamiroquai comparison, it does have that sort of sound.

Posted by: -Jay- Oct 3 2014, 01:25 PM

Definitely agree that it's his most instant single so far! Loving it. biggrin.gif Also reminds me a bit of Bruno Mars in the chorus, like a couple have already mentioned.

I was a bit worried that Travie's rap would sound phoned in and unnecessary, but it's quite enjoyable too.

Posted by: { bré } Oct 3 2014, 01:38 PM

Really liking this, Olly can seemingly do no wrong with his lead singles - this has got to be another #1 surely? It is quite similar to 'Tresure' but better I think (and I do like 'Treasure' anyway). Travie's part is surprisingly decent as well.

Posted by: AdamAloud Oct 3 2014, 01:58 PM

I like this a lot but I *think* I still prefer 'Troublemaker', but I agree it's certainly instant!

So much new music being released in the past few days. drama.gif

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 4 2014, 01:24 AM

Loving this on first listen. But I seem to like his follow up singles more (ignoring 'Army Of Two') than his lead singles usually. But this is great!

Posted by: Conderella Oct 4 2014, 07:16 AM

Meh. What a boring song. The only good thing is the lyric video. Although Olly's FAKE ASS laughing grimace at the end is TERRIBLE even if it lasts like 1.5 seconds

Can Olly perhaps just stand there shirtless in the official video? DONE

Posted by: Liаm Oct 4 2014, 09:51 AM

This is really good! It's not exactly the same as his other singles so I feel enough of a progression without it being a random amd radical departure from the sound I love from him. It's so catchy and funky, I even like Travie's bit as it doesn't feel tacked on like some featured rappers' verses do.

Posted by: { bré } Oct 4 2014, 01:35 PM

Pavel the party poopa

Posted by: *Tim Oct 5 2014, 02:42 PM

This is decent, but I really don't get the hype behind him tbh.
He was good on Troublemaker, but this isn't as good imo

I like the verses, but the chorus somehow manages to ruin the song

Posted by: JohnnyCartersBoy Oct 7 2014, 09:57 PM

This song is DOPE!!!! It has converted me to being a full on Olly Murs fan!!! Well Done Olly!

Posted by: Acidburn Oct 8 2014, 03:47 AM

LOVE LOVE LOVE this..., another smash hit for him

Posted by: Liаm Oct 13 2014, 03:55 PM

Olly is performing on the X Factor final in Australia next Monday biggrin.gif Presumably it'll be this, quite a big gig for him over there! He has had a few really big hits though.

Posted by: Liаm Oct 19 2014, 10:42 AM

Olly sang Dear Darlin' with the favourite to win Dean Ray as well <3 He's performing Wrapped Up on the final results as well so hopefully a big Aussie itunes boost for both although DD was a huge hit already!

Posted by: slowdown73 Oct 19 2014, 10:49 AM

I don't think this is a great song for a comeback. Reminds me a bit of troublemaker but certainly not as good.

Looks like it will be Olly V Jessica Mauboy as she sang Never Be The Same Again with someone and will be performing Can I Get A Moment? tomorrow.

I really don't think CIGAM will be a hit sadly sad.gif Plus Dean is much more popular than Marlisa going off of itunes so I think he'd give DD a bigger boost than Marlisa would NBTS. But who knows, guest performers usually get big boosts anyway so I think both singers' new tracks will go top 10 on itunes, hopefully anyway. Two great tracks <3

If only we could have someone as amazing as Jess or Olly as the duets in our final instead of Robbie Williams or Michael Buble laugh.gif

Already #14 on UK airplay charts, A listed at Radio 2 and C listed at Radio 1!

Video finally premieres on Wednesday morning. We've been told to expect a LOT of dancing.

Posted by: ThePensmith Oct 29 2014, 12:22 AM

Video's here! And bloody brilliant it is too:

I love his outfit with the hat!

Posted by: Liаm Oct 29 2014, 12:34 AM

Great video, looking perfect as always.

Posted by: mr_aly Oct 29 2014, 01:57 AM

Cheap as hell video, and they couldn't even get Chavie to appear in it?!

At least he looks incredible though.

Posted by: Hayzayy Oct 30 2014, 01:35 PM

It feels so akward not to have Travie in the video and to have Olly miming the rap. laugh.gif

And the video is a cheap mess. I don't get how anyone can find it "bloody brillant" unless you have very low standards for videos and/or for Olly.

The performance really sold the song to me, very catchy and he sang it live extremely well.

Posted by: BuzzLightyear Nov 16 2014, 11:40 PM

should be able to get number 2. He's on the number 1 anyway so a good week for him overall.

Posted by: jase. Nov 16 2014, 11:43 PM

God this is awful

Posted by: Aphrodite Nov 17 2014, 01:04 AM

I would be happy with number 2 considering his feature on what will be the number 1.

Posted by: pippa Nov 17 2014, 11:57 AM

That X Factor performance was wonderfully enjoyable. He went on the show to sell the song and he nailed it.

Posted by: BuzzLightyear Nov 18 2014, 01:30 AM

A possible number 2 on the cards considering he has Graham Norton on Friday & some other stuff. Weirdly though Surprise Surprise is next week.

Posted by: ThePensmith Nov 19 2014, 11:34 PM

I have a feeling he'll be number 2 next week as well as the download from the album and cherry picks from Now 89 which I believe he's on will give him a good boost!

Can't wait for Graham Norton on Friday. And I LOVED the X Factor performance. He's got the moves!

Posted by: ThePensmith Nov 22 2014, 03:38 PM

Now #2 on iTunes following his (excellent) performance on Graham Norton last night!

Posted by: _Rosie_ Nov 22 2014, 04:38 PM

Just watched the performance on Graham Norton!
Thought it was excellent!

Glad the song is now at #2 on itunes! Hope it can stay high in the chart for next week.

Olly's back in America for a few weeks promo from tomorrow - and this has been confirmed as the first US single, set to be going to radio a week next Tuesday. Performance lined up on 'The Today Show' on NBC on Thursday too I believe.

Should be interesting to see how this gets on for him - fingers crossed it does well. No word on the US release of 'Never Been Better' but I'm told it's looking like a March release. The album's out in Japan in two weeks so he'll be over there again for promo soon.
