So, the second half of S7 has been way better than the first and all of S6 I’d say - the Siddiquis have been great additions and Lauren has been great too!

I can't remember that much of later series 7 other than the gang stuff.

Yeah the gang stuff and the Hit and run, right now I’m at Josh’s mental health issues too!

So, I watched up until episode 2 of season 8, but the move to Scotland has definitely taken away any magic the show had for me so I think I’ll leave it at that!

Soz for the spam but I stuck with it and I’ve just finished Season 8, and it ended up being one of the better ones since 5 I thought- I really enjoyed the animal testing story with Lula, although I think I’d have preferred Grantlys exit to be from the coma!

I couldn’t stand Lorraine/Sonya etc and also Christine is possibly my least favourite character ever as she is so unlikable. Does anyone else feel sorry for Kyle in the last episode?

Wow you've powered through it! I've not watched it in a couple of weeks now. laugh.gif Surprised you dislike Christine, she was one of my few favourites from Series 8! I know she could be unlikable but I could sympathise with her and Laurie Brett did a fantastic job acting-wise. I wasn't particularly keen on her drippy son or his irritating girlfriend.

I've finished Season 9 now, I've been so obsessed!! I really like Christine now, although I think Laurie Brett has been disappointing - I know this is her real accent, but as a fellow Scot it sounds so forced and her pronunciation really distracts me! I was so sad when Lula left, that last wee scene between her and Harley was cute. Also, Gabriella is a bad bitch!

Nah I hated Lula too. All the kids were hideous tbh. The more I think about it, the more I'm shocked I actually managed to stick with Series 8 until the end! laugh.gif

You’ve gone past the point I stopped watching. I vaguely recall Lula but don’t remember her leaving.

I actually don’t think the move has been that bad, when you got adjust to all the new characters. There are some parts whicu are really repetitive of previous years but I don’t hate it.

How have I only just noticed the resurgence of conversation in this thread? *.*

Honestly I've never understood quite why the move to Scotland was such a turn-off for many people. When you move beyond the fact it's something that would never happen in the real world, it was actually pretty good when everybody had settled down and it was pretty much business-as-usual. The show was never the same, but it really did all go downhill the moment Eva Pope left (the real glory days of the show heart.gif). The Michael Byrne era will forever go down as the most annoying time to be a fan of the show for me - he just would not leave. laugh.gif (Karen's era wasn't much better though!)

Christine will forever remain iconic though wub.gif It baffles me that they decided to introduce yet another new headteacher for the final series instead of just sticking with Christine and seeing her really get her teeth into the job.

The only issue I had was that it really felt like a completely different show, and there was so much change in such a short space of time - in a season you lose all remaining original characters which I found quite difficult to engage with afterwards. Characters like Audrey and Maggie really saved the last few seasons for me though.

I've just watched the last ever episode and I'm so disappointed, there was literally no pay off for long serving viewers and everything surrounding the merger, Lorna, Sonia etc just felt so... flat?

I would've loved a cameo or two from some old school members of the cast who could pitch in with the merger (Kim, Andrew, Steph, Rachel) or a reformed pupil who could have pitched in too, rather than the insufferable Kenzie who had been there for half an hour - logistically I'd imagine a few would've turned it down at this point, but I think it definitely went out with a whimper.

I did however, love the development in George over the last few episodes - his relationship with Bonnie, and how it influenced him (saving the school in the process) was great to watch!

Yeah the biggest issue with moving to Scotland was that it effectively culled the cast. Most actors weren’t willing to move to Scotland in order to carry past a series or so.

I'm watching this just now!

Reece Douglas (Denzel) not even knowing he was being written out and only getting a phone call asking for a recent photo of him because they were 3 weeks into filming his funeral, i- DeadBanana.gif

Lmao! drama.gif I've only watched half so far so I've not seen this bit, but wow that's harsh. laugh.gif I really hated the fact they killed him off, especially when there was no consideration for the story surrounding his death. It added nothing to the show; it was barely given airtime in the one episode it was referred to and certainly affected no-one going forward.

Anyway, happy 15th birthday to Waterloo Road!
