Not seen Gone Girl, it's been on my watchlist for ages now but just never got around to it sad.gif

This would be my ranking without Pike then:
1 Julianne Moore
2 Marion Cotillard
3 Reese Witherspoon
4 Felicity Jones

I don't really agree with the claims that Moore only won because she hadn't won before, it really discredits her emotional and powerful performance in Still Alice, so many scenes had my heart breaking. I wasn't expecting to be so enthralled in TD,ON but the story itself got me hooked and you're really rooting for Cotillard to keep her job, so glad she made it in despite hitting none of thr precursors (almost the opposite story for her in Rust & Bone laugh.gif). Reese Witherspoon was easily the best thing about Wild, the film was so dull imo but she was a fantastic lead character, first time I ever took her seriously as a dramatic actress. I don't really like Felicity Jones tbh anyway but she was nothing special this year, outshone in every scene by Eddie Redmayne tbh.

I'd have easily taken out Jones and put in Jennifer Aniston, I was gutted when she missed out, I thought it was finally her time! She'd easily be top 3 in my ranking for leading actress this year. sad.gif Amy Adams was solid in Big Eyes too but it's not one of her mosf exciting performancess though it would've been nice to see her get a sixth nomination. I'd probably put Emily Blunt in Into The Woods as my fifth spot, hilarious in places and a really competent singer too, she was better than Meryl imo!

I loved every performance in this category!
Julianne Moore really deserved it, even though her and Cotillard both had incredible, immersive performances.
Felicity Jones was actually excellent, I adored her performance. She had a though job opposite such a well known character as Hawking, but she totally held her own and was Redmayne's equal if you ask me!

(back on topic, will comment on this later but Moore/Pike/Witherspoon were such a killer trio! <3)

I never really found Jen Aniston to be Oscar worthy for Cake, so would have been annoyed if she ended up there. She's an average actress at best who gave an above
average performance.

Amy should have been there for Big Eyes but Julianne was the only winner that year.
