Okay so the EG4 era so far isn't quite setting the world on fire. Close to Me was a cute hit on both sides of the Atlantic and Sixteen was one here too, but I think it's fair to say Hate Me's been an underperformance. Ultimately, Ellie's lacking a monster smash hit this era; one that will shift album units.
So what does Ellie need to do now to regain momentum? A little bit of a break, or should she keep churning the singles out hoping one of them will be the big hit she needs? |

I think Ellie needs to take a few months to recalibrate and figure out exactly where she wants to go as an artist. Think about the album, the overall image she wants, and stick to something consistent. Find the balance between chart-worthy in 2019, and something unquestionably Ellie, because the balance hasn't quite been right this era.

Just let Hate Me ride the wave in the US in the hopes that it becomes a minor sleeper radio hit like Close To Me did. Then she comes back with a soundtrack song in January and tops the charts again. Although I fear that this scenario might be her make or break line bc if she doesn’t get a hit soon she might not be able to get one again

Ellie does do soundtracks well.
Agree with the consistency comments too. |
