Stormzy only did it because Lewis did it first lol
I'm here for it, it's nice to see a legitimate chart battle between artists who actually care about the UK charts for once. |

Just adding more fuel to fire about this but looking at Gaga's chart history she is now only put down as having three no1 albums. Even looking at her and Brad's artist page on the OCC website they don't have a no1 album on there either. It looks as though they've been stripped of a no1 album unless they are updating stuff.
If that is the case The OCC really are making the chart an absolute joke. This post has been edited by Supercell: Jan 2 2020, 12:06 PM |

If that is the case The OCC really are making the chart an absolute joke. With that it was never credited to them for some reason. It never showed on Gaga’s page. But the singles from the era (or the tracks what charted) are on her history. |

Yeah the OCC have always credited to 'Motion Picture Cast Recording' for whatever reason, so it's always been an asterisk in the same way as
edit: remembered the wrong album, 'The Bodyguard' was on the compilations chart x |

actually the OCC credited the Evita soundtrack as a Madonna album
even though it's 100% a cast album, so back then, it shouldn't have been allowed there are many songs on the soundtrack not sung by Madonna but Banderas and the other cast members |

actually the OCC credited the Evita soundtrack as a Madonna album When 'Evita' first charted Alan Jones wrote "Evita qualifies for the artist chart rather than the compilation chart because it was put together for the purpose using the same backing musicians throughout, regardless of whether the vocalist was Madonna, which in most cases it was". It definitely should not be treated as a Madonna album though, the artist credit at the time was given as "Various - Original Cast Recording". I think it's just the passage of time and how the album is perceived (as largely a Madonna album) that has led to it being credited to Madonna.even though it's 100% a cast album, so back then, it shouldn't have been allowed there are many songs on the soundtrack not sung by Madonna but Banderas and the other cast members Bre mentioned 'The Bodyguard' but that really was a various artists album even though Whitney Houston is the vocalist on a number of the tracks. One of the tracks on that album ('Trust In Me' by Joe Cocker) dates back to 1987. This post has been edited by Robbie: Jan 2 2020, 07:50 PM |

If A Star Is Born ,Greatest Showman etc have been added to compilation chart, I guess that means streaming will no longer add to their total sales figures?

If A Star Is Born ,Greatest Showman etc have been added to compilation chart, I guess that means streaming will no longer add to their total sales figures? The rules changed a few weeks back. OST albums on the Compilation Albums chart now have streaming data included.Edit: OST albums that have been recorded as part of a movie project that is, rather than OST albums that are merely a collection of various tracks that may have been originally released years previously. Or at least that is my understanding of the new rule. This post has been edited by Robbie: Jan 2 2020, 10:34 PM |

Streaming is counted for compilations albums that comprise new material specifically for the album I believe (which will be mostly film soundtracks but there are others it applies to as well like The Plug's 'Plug Talk' album).
actually the OCC credited the Evita soundtrack as a Madonna album even though it's 100% a cast album, so back then, it shouldn't have been allowed there are many songs on the soundtrack not sung by Madonna but Banderas and the other cast members It's not credited to Madonna in the OCC's database. It's listed as a cast recording. |

it's on Madonna's album discography credited as Madonna
https://www.officialcharts.com/artist/28948/madonna/ I just checked my album and it's actually hard to tell cos it says "Music from the motion picture Evita" but does not say Madonna or Cast recording anywhere |
