I have decided that this week will be the final set of charts I compile.
 This isn't a decision I've made lightly!Unfortunately my passion for writing personal charts has rapidly faded over the past year... for the majority of the time it feels like a chore. Recently I've been feeling a lot less motivated to check out lots of brand new music/artists, and I barely keep up with the official UK chart any more (there's lots of big hits from this year that I haven't heard!). There have been weeks where I don't get around to hearing much music at all, which made it hard to try and get a chart together... and the end result just felt fake. I've always based my chart on personal feeling, rather than play counts. Prior to this year it always felt pretty easy to be able to write a list of songs that somehow always felt like the 'correct' order, truly reflecting how I felt about the songs every week. More recently though, my lists have felt increasingly meaningless. To the point that there's been occasions that I've had particular songs at #1 that I wouldn't say I liked any more or less than several of the songs I arbitrarily decided to place lower down. Although I began feeling this way months ago, I decided not to give up at that point. I really wanted to see 2019 through, mainly because I wanted to have a complete set of charts for the 2010s decade... but also to see whether over time I would change my mind. Evidently I haven't. I really do feel like this decade coming to a close is the right time for me to move on from this! I appreciate that this post is coming across as rather dramatic, but honestly, personal charts have been a big part of my online life... so to give it up feels like the end of an era! My interest in this hobby (and the charts in general) is what lead me to discovering BuzzJack, and importantly making some life long friends.  I first started writing charts in 2005 (originally on Chart Refugees forum - R.I.P.), when I was 17 years old. I'm almost 32, so I've been writing charts for 15 years! I'll always appreciate that I have an archive of charts that enables me to look back on the thousands of songs I adored throughout my youth. Honestly, from here on out I'm quite looking forward to simply listening to music for the sake of enjoyment, without having it in the back of my mind... "how will this do in my chart?"  ~~ So this is it, my final chart... and I'm fairly certain this is the highest number of Christmas songs I've ever included in my Top 40. 27 festive songs out of 40, including the entirety of the Top 10!  If you're wondering about the two random Kylie Minogue re-entries, they're back due to performances aired on 'Kylie's Secret Night' and her 'Golden Live' tour programmes on Christmas Day/Boxing Day.I'd say it's rather fitting that my final #1 is Mariah Carey - 'All I Want for Christmas Is You'. It's the only song that has entered my chart every single year since 2005. It was my Christmas #1 in 2005, and it took until this year to make it back to the top of the chart. It has achieved 77 weeks in my Top 40, far more than any other song in my chart history. It also has more chart points than any other song (2,532)! It's easily one of my favourite songs of all-time. ~~ I'd just like to thank everyone who has ever shown an interest in my charts, whether you have replied to them or read them. I always appreciated every comment, even though I was often incredibly lazy when it came to replying... sorry about that!  Although this will be my last weekly chart, I will endeavour to post my 2019 End of Year chart and 2010s Decade chart asap!

Great christmas chart Jay!
I also like the huge gain for "Everything I Wanted", as well as many christmas gains and re-entries. Alright, now I would like to be serious for a moment. So, this is your final chart ever. I feel very sad about it, considering I like reading a lot of charts from many sites including this one and from many people. And I feel that someone making their final chart and giving up making personal charts, for me it feels like losing a family member, sad, disappointed and leaving very crippled. But I'm glad that you stuck doing this for 15 years! It's your decision to give up your personal chart and if this is your final chart, at least you went out with a bang! So Jay, if you read this, from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for all the charts you given to us. And whatever the future might hold for you, hopefully it will be for the best. I'll make sure to check out your Year End lists very soon!If I had continued writing charts, my #1 for 3rd January would definitely have been Harry Styles - Adore You. It's kind of unfortunate that he's missed out on that for my chart history, but let's call it an honorary #1.
