Discuss everything to do with the girls and BRIT Awards in this thread. Nominations, predictions, performance etc..

It's on tonight on at 5pm on ITV tonight.

TUNE IN to see the girls perform "something they've never done before" (according to Jade on Little Mix's twitter)

Posted by: UltraReputation Jan 12 2019, 05:35 PM

Yassss think about us *.* messT at them saying they haven't performed it before 😂

Posted by: jakewild Jan 12 2019, 05:36 PM

that was such an awkward introduction

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 12 2019, 06:07 PM

I imagine they’ll get British Video if it’s viewer voted.

Can’t see them winning Group but surprised and pleased they were nominated within that category.

Posted by: troylovesmusic Jan 12 2019, 06:28 PM

So nominated for Best Video and Best Group this year !

Best video is fan voted again so they should win most likely win that but Liam and Rita For You might challenge them as both have decent sized fanbases which will be working together .

Posted by: SweetButJonjo👻 Jan 12 2019, 07:24 PM

HOPEFULLY that tweet was referring to The BRITs main show performance 👀

But ecstatic with those noms. I'm so pleased they got a nom for Best Group again wub.gif Remember to start voting in Best Video from 4th Feb!

And here is the performance!

Posted by: SweetButJonjo👻 Jan 12 2019, 08:00 PM

THAT SCREENSHOT 😂😂😂😂

Poor Jesy! LMAO

Posted by: Joe. Jan 15 2019, 10:12 PM

Performance announced!

They’ve already confirmed it’s something they’ve never done before... I wonder what. At least it probably won’t be WLM!

Posted by: SweetButJonjo👻 Jan 15 2019, 10:17 PM

Brilliant!!! So, so, SO excited!

Why do I get the feeling it'll be a medley of every single song they've released from the era by that point? kink.gif

Edit: or acoustic WLM kink.gif

Posted by: Defaze Jan 15 2019, 10:19 PM

Thank God it won't be WLM. 'Think About Us' could really do with the promo (if it's even announced by then that is laugh.gif) but I wouldn't be opposed to them doing something that showcases their vocals. A 'Monster In Me' performance would be nice.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Jan 15 2019, 10:23 PM

This performance could set the era up again if they play it right.

I hope they do the opposite of what they’ve done at the BRITS in the past and just do a stunning ballad vocal like The Cure or Monster In Me something like that would turn things around and help the album out hugely.

Posted by: Joe. Jan 15 2019, 10:31 PM

I really want them to perform The Cure or Monster In Me.

Think About Us on Norton already proved it wasn’t an album seller so I really don’t want them performing that again but at the same time if it IS their next single, it would be the third Brits where they’ve not performed their current single which would be weird. One of the two ballads I mentioned INTO TAU would be perfect.

(Personally i think they should shelve the video for TAU, and release it as a third single in spring and release a ballad ASAP)

Posted by: Court Jan 15 2019, 10:35 PM

It’s too late to shelve anything. They need to push a single and they need to do it now.

Seeing as it’s something they’ve “never done before” i’m assuming it’s gonna be a medley, and hopefully a pretty nice one at that. Not just Woman Like Me into Think About Us or something like that.

I know they won’t, it’s hypothetical but why? All they’d need to do is announce tomororw another song as single 2 as they’ve not announced anything yet and send it to radio.

In theory, sure, but in actuality I’m sure it takes longer than a day to actually pick a new single and set up all the promotion, radio and playlisting. I’m not an expert on these things but I’m sure that this process has already been started for Think About Us so I think it’s be a waste of time for them to redo it.

Not to mention that with four members and the label to deal with, picking a new single at all could be difficult

But honestly I don’t work in the industry so maybe it is as simple as emailing the radio execs and saying “hey, play The Cure it’s the next single from LM5”. I don’t see the point in switching (especially when the Think About Us performances have been so stellar and a big one at the Brits could really cement the songs hit status) but as long as we get an announcement this week or next, I don’t really care that much.

I'm still salty that a 'Secret Love Song' performance never happened a few years ago to show off their vocals. So I also hope they perform something more heartfelt this time to make up for it. Everyone knows how amazing they are as performers but they're so underrated as vocalists!

Pretty much THIS.

Like, I won't be ungrateful for another big production performance, but I kinda want just a piano and them. A stripped live version of 'The Cure' would do wonders imo.

Posted by: Juliano Jan 16 2019, 04:42 AM

I would love it of it turned out they had videoed a Think About Us video for use later (ala That's My Girl/Love Me Like You) but also shot one for Monster In Me as their winter single and nailed a Brita performance of it then released the video for it the same day.

Edit: Also Strip would be awesome!!

That's why I think a medley would be great. It's not uncommon for artists to do 2 or even 3 songs in one performance (at least one artist does this every year), so I really think this could be the year for Little Mix! Rita got a performance that was over 5 minutes long last year. So I think a The Cure/Monster in Me into Think About Us could be perfect.

Posted by: TheGrinch Jan 16 2019, 11:39 AM

The Brits has started to lose it's impact, isn't it?

I can see them doing Monster In Me / Think About Us but I wouldn't mind a performance of 'Strip'.

Posted by: TheGrinch Jan 16 2019, 11:42 AM

HOW ON EARTH DID JORJA SMITH GET A PERFORMANCE SLOT?

That would be cool! However, imagine if The Brits did their unexpected collaborations again (ala Rihanna/Klaxons & Florence/Dizzee etc..) and we FINALLY got that LM & Ariana collab? *.*

YAAASSS please!! cool.gif

I know it’s so unlikely but I’d just love for them to win British Group this time round! And tbf none of the groups in the category had stellar sales behind them this year, and I think it’s high time a female band won this category! I can already see the social media backlash towards the brits if they don’t win.

Even if they don’t win this, I hope British video is on lock, and I really think we’ve got it this year!

The winner of that award typically tends to go to groups who solely write their own material and who play instruments. Don’t get me wrong Little Mix are definitely my personal favourite from the nominations but I predict the Arctic Monkeys to win.

Posted by: SweetButJonjo👻 Jan 17 2019, 06:52 AM

I feel like The 1975 are gonna win, especially as Arctic Monkeys didn't get a "Best Album" nomination.

It's just so infuriating that pop bands in general get ignored for that category sad.gif

Posted by: SweetButJonjo👻 Jan 31 2019, 09:35 AM

Apparently Perrie has said that they will be joined by a "special guest" and "to expect big things".

Me and Joe are in a bit of a disagreement as to who it could be. Joe seems to think it'll be as straight forward as Ty Dolla $ign.. I'm thinking why wouldn't they just announce him, I believe he's not that big of a name in the UK to keep as "special guest". So I hope it isn't.

I'm thinking it'll be someone bigger like Ariana but, what if it's The Spice Girls? That'd be pretty huge or what about BLACKPINK? *.* (unlikely, but I'm just speculating haha)

But speculate at this rumour!

Posted by: liamk97 Jan 31 2019, 09:49 AM

Assuming "expect big things" is referring to the special guest and not just the performance itself, I can't see it being Ty either. He's just not a big deal in the UK and is too obvious to be a 'special' guest.

Can't think of who it could be. Spice Girls would obiously be fantastic and probably more achievable than you might think. The BRITs are certainly fans of them.

Posted by: TheGrinch Jan 31 2019, 10:20 AM

Any previous era I would be excited and think something big is happening but I do think it will be Ty Dolla $ign now! A Little Mix & Spice Girls performance would be iconic though although none of the spice girls would be able to handle any of the notes of 'Think About Us'.

Posted by: SweetButJonjo👻 Jan 31 2019, 10:31 AM

Joe said the girls are working with Parras again for this performance!

Posted by: Joe. Jan 31 2019, 01:42 PM

I'd rather it was a Little Mix performance and not a Spice Girls performance as this album needs focus and I want a performance that will play to their strengths, but if Parras is choreographing I don't think it will include Spice Girls. I really think it'll probably just be Ty. I remember they teased a specail guest for their London O2 show and everyone was thinking it would be Sean Paul or Jason Derulo but it was Lethal Bizzle lol.

Posted by: Defaze Jan 31 2019, 02:20 PM

I’d honestly prefer Ty to the Spice Girls. I’m... really not a fan. Would the girls even want to collaborate after Mel C’s comments about them in the past?

Spice Girls have great pop songs to be fair (no rappers or cover versions either). tongue.gif

Little Mix and Spice Girls performing together would be an ICONIC BRITs moment! wub.gif

They're performing with Ms Banks (who was recently on the Gun Lean remix) which is pretty uninspiring.

I saw this. Homophobic tweets from 2013 have resurfaced following this announcement too. This isnt good

Posted by: tomwright123 Feb 5 2019, 05:42 PM

This just seems like the most random combination?? Like I really don’t see the point in it?

Posted by: Joe. Feb 5 2019, 05:49 PM

Their campaign has been about evelating women so they’re helping out a new and up and coming rapper. It could be cool, she’ll probably just do her own rap in the place or Ty Dolla’s. At least we don’t have Nicki stinking up the joint or them having to share focus with someone as big as Ariana or Spice Girls.

She's already apologised. Twitter fans are just being insufferable as usual.

I'm fine with the collab in all honesty, it's cute that they're giving her a platform and her Twitter response to the announcement was really sweet. And like Joe mentioned, it at least means no Nicki (and hopefully no WLM performance).

Agreed, it's definitely reaffirmed how integral they are to the music scene at the moment. I do feel like they've lost a lot of their casual fans this era, so hopefully this will help get them back on board.

That’s what I felt too, I feel like Think About Us will do absolutely fine now and hopefully the album stops lingering from the bottom of the top 40. (Up 41 places on iTunes so far)

Posted by: SweetButJonjo👻 Feb 20 2019, 10:38 PM

I'm so excited to see the performance (I was at work </3) but YEEESSSS at them winning an award. wub.gif

Their reactions are always so wonderful!

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Feb 21 2019, 08:50 AM

I was there, it was such an incredible performance.

When they first started doing 'Woman Like Me', I was like "what are you doing?" and then assumed they'd fit in 'Think About Us' somewhere in the performance but it never happened. laugh.gif

Posted by: ThePensmith Feb 21 2019, 02:34 PM

Genuinely thrilled to see they won another award. Stuff giving it to ungrateful 'underdogs', BRITs 'committee', I want to see popstars who'll react to winning awards that actually are grateful for it like they are.
