Welcome to the first ever edition of the Pop Forum Awards (as far as we know!) where we want to reward those that have made 2014 another fantastic (and not so fantastic) year of music!

We have 27 award categories for you all to get involved in. All you need to do is to submit up to 3 nominations for each category (or as many categories as you want to get involved in) and remember that this is 2014 so don't go submitting 'Once' by Diana Vickers as the best single even though I know you all desperately want to. In order to prevent us influencing each other with our nominations, you need to do this via PM to myself (Ryan.) but feel free to start hype campaigns for your favourites in this thread! Of course there are some blurred lines (featuring Pharrell) between what is 2014 and what is not, but we trust your instincts and if there is anything that is completely unacceptable then we'll let you know so you have the opportunity to make a replacement nominations.

So here are the categories for the 2014 Pop Forum Awards!

ARTIST AWARDS

• Best male solo artist
• Best group
• Social media icon
• Best emerging pop artist
• Most anticipated comeback for 2015
• Next artist to upgrade from indie to pop
• Best promotional team
• Pop villain of the year
• Pop saviour of the year

SONG AWARDS

• Best single
• Best single artwork
• Best debut single
• Most overrated single
• Most underrated single
• Best collaboration
• Surprise smash of the year
• Surprise flop of the year
• Song too good to just be an album track
• Best track to be relegated to a deluxe bonus

OTHER AWARDS

• Best album
• Best album artwork
• Best music video
• Best fanbase name
• Best live performance
• Worst live performance
• Ultimate pop music moment of 2014 (This can be absolutely anything!)

We've purposely not included too many negative awards as the main point of these awards are to celebrate the music of 2014, and we don't need endless categories being battles just between Jessie J and Pixie Lott (even though they don't deserve such negativity!).

Please remember that your nominees need to apply to singles and albums released in 2014 as well as what artists have done this year. So to summarise, nominate up to 3 for each of the categories above and send these nominations to me (Ryan.) via PM before 11pm UK time on December 26th. The final shortlist of nominees will then be revealed by Umi shortly afterwards which will contain the top 5 most nominated for or as close to as possible depending on ties!

This is the first time we've run something like this so I apologise in advance if this all goes wrong! Feel free to ask any questions in this thread.

Question - are nominees restricted to just pop artists or can people like Iggy or Nicki be nominated too?

I think Iggy and Nicki for example do have pop crossover so I'd say they would be fine. People like Jason Derulo, Sam Smith and Marina would all be fine as well as while they are not in the Pop forum, they definitely have that pop crossover.

I'd say FKA Twigs is quite pop-ey

This year has been a great year for pop as a whole tbh. Would Ariana Grande count as Pop cause she keeps changing from R&B to pop

There's an element of crossover between pop and dance for Kiesza's music I think so I'd say she counts.
