SAM SMITH
6 mins ·
This is one of the highlights of my career. I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song. I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it. You can pre-order 'Writing’s On The Wall' on CD or vinyl here http://po.st/atniVf, or on iTunes from midnight.

Intrigued to hear this because I reckon he'll be really good if the song is good. But "Skyfall" was s*** so idk.

Naming it after a Destiny's Child album, how cute.
Not usually a fan of his music and was hoping it would be anyone but him...still, will listen with an open mind. Hope it's good!

So pleased another big name is doing the track, especially after how amazing Adele was with Skyfall!

Just ordered the CD single, buzzing to hear this!

I am hoping this will sound sufficiently Bond-y to overcome the Sam Smith-ness. Sam is tolerable when his songs are interesting enough. They just very rarely are.

I love Sam's music but I do agree with this. I think he has the voice for Bond but a radio-friendly piano ballad would really not suffice. Needs to be really orchestral and plenty of strings - like 'Skyfall' was really, but I'd prefer it being darker to match the seemingly deep feel of the film.

Skyfall did sound quite different to Adele's other singles so this is entirely possible biggrin.gif

Honestly his behaviour surrounding this song has been outrageous.

Is there a reason why this is in the Urban forum?

Hmm... The UKMix equivalent thread is also in their RNB Forum...
Can't find anything else on it though and I am not an expert on genres laugh.gif

Buzzjack protocol states an artists' entire discography/subject matter is confined to one of the genre forums for convenience/consistency's sakes and R&B has been selected for Sam Smith.

Well personally I don't think you can get any more pop than Sam Smith. But I'll stop now as it looks like I'm actually making a big deal out of it, while I really was just curious.
